  1. Couldn't find a relevant existing thread for this one: https://taskandpurpose.com/military-children-born-abroad-citizenship The part that seems confusing to me is making the child take the oath before the 18th birthday.... So, sometime after learning how to understand human speech and learning how to speak English but before 18th birthday. This would have been interesting for me since I had a kid in January 20XX and moved back to the States two months later. Would have had to apply for an immigrant visa or something?

We lost a legend in the aviation community on Sunday. I believe Captain Al Haynes was the last surviving member of the flight crew that was aboard United 232 on 19 July 1989. Check Airman Denny Fitch passed away in May 2012. Godspeed, Captain Haynes. https://siouxcityjournal.com/multimedia/photos-look-backs-at-flight-through-the-years/collection_b0edddae-5428-5eff-b3a9-e747a548ecc3.html#17 https://siouxcityjournal.com/news/local/three-decades-after-flight-spencer-bailey----the/article_3208f16f-f01e-5ab6-9969-5a872a10c4c8.html https://whotv.com/2019/08/26/hero-captain-of-united-airlines-flight-232-dies/

Did a search and all that came up was MC-12 info. I'm looking for current and specific info on C-12's. The following are my questions: 1) What's the ops tempo like? 2) Are they all short tours? 3) Where are they located and where do I find current locations that are open? 4) What are the pros and cons with this gig? 5) Does this assignment make you eligible for a non-vol MC-12 tour? Mobility dude here looking for some "change". Considering C-12 as an option for next assignment or short tour. Thanks!

For communities with EFBs, and who fly with them at night on NVGs: 1. Do you have an NVIS-compatible filter for your EFB? 2. If so, who made it/where was it procured? Looking for an NVIS filter film/glass of some sort for iPad minis that won't negate the touch screen capes. I assume there's already a govt-approved solution out there, so please share what you know.

Does anyone know of any documents that would explain (hopefully in layman's terms) how to read an OPR? Long story short, I switched over to the Navy Reserve and I'm going before an application board soon and I need to include some of my last OPRs from the AF. The board won't know how to tell a good OPR from a bad one. They won't understand things like stratifications, etc. Is there anything out there that would decipher OPR merits? Thanks!

  7. Hopefully, the Russians (long ago) removed all them nuke artillery projectiles/nuke warheads/etc that were stored at this site - back in the day. There's a potential for a wee bit of fallout from this accident if these nuke assets are still stored at this site and they were involved/damaged/consumed by the conventional explosions/fires/etc. Note; Once upon a time - this particular "Nuclear Weapon Storage Site was probably on our ICBM/Nuke Bomber hit list":<)

I’m an active duty Capt who managed to escape the MSG and about to start UPT at Columbus. I heard some gouge (from two Lt FAIPs) about late rated guys who end up tracking T-38s rarely end up in a fighter. Do they not like sending older folks to fighters (I’m 29)? Is there some truth here or is it just anecdotal Lt rumor? P.S I’m still very much a free agent on what I’d like to fly, I’m not a fighters or bust dude just after information

My wife and I are finally planning our honeymoon to Europe after putting it off for over 2 years. I have heard of hopping on a C17 out of charleston but but other options are there? What are the ins and outs of it? Our leave starts 9 Aug.. is it realistic that we would be able to hop on space a that day?

  10. I commission into the active duty Air Force via an interservice transfer in August. AFPC/DP2LT is saying I need to PCS to my gaining unit (OCONUS) to in-process and then proceed TDY for my initial -135 PIQ course. The MSgt at the AFPC office is concerned that I won’t get paid if I don’t in-process prior to going TDY. When I reached out to my gaining base finance, that MSgt was wondering why I needed to go there first and not just do a TDY enroute. I realize doing an interservice transfer is a rare occurrence, but would anyone know applicable AFIs or AFMANs that might apply? Or, just know the answer? For many reasons I’d rather go TDY enroute than PCS and I’m hoping I…

I am looking for some help on the TBAS flashcards. I understand the concept and am able to get the correct answers when it shows the direction I am heading on the compass, but when it shows it on the map like in these two images I cannot figure out what direction I am heading. Based on what I see, the top of the map is North, so the it looks I would be heading East and North in the two images respectively. However, I know this is wrong but I can't figure out why. What am I missing that shows I would be heading West and South?

I was referred to this forum by a current active duty AF pilot. I am currently in the end process of the AF Officer application process and currently have a scheduled start date for OTS. There are a couple of things that have come up in the last couple of weeks that have raised some red flags regarding the information I have been given by my recruiter versus what I have been told by several current AF pilots as well as a flight instructor. I am wanting to fly, however my overall GPA from college is just under the 3.00 requirement (2.75). What I was told by the recruiter that I have been dealing with is that if I want to apply for a pilot slot, I would have to get in…

We’re looking to change our squadron call sign to better align with our heritage, but the base call sign manager says our choice isn’t legal based on AFI 33-217. We want to use CHETR XX (pronounced Cheater). 33-217 has been rescinded according to the e-pubs website, but the call sign manager says that he has to still apply it because the Air Force level call sign manager still uses it. Anybody got experience dealing with this?

  22. I thought there was a general TDY thread but I can't find it (if it exists). Has anyone used Turo on a TDY instead of going through a traditional rental car company? If so, have you gotten reimbursed? If I can find a nice car on Turo for the same price as the shitbox Hertz is going to give me, why can't I use Turo instead? For those of you unfamiliar with Turo, it's basically AirBnB for cars.

I'm going to go to Kirtland AFB next month for the FSO course. It's about three weeks long. I'll probably be the oldest guy ever to go throught the damn thing, but it AFRC is willing to pay for it, I'm willing to put it on my resume. I heard it's a pretty cool school. Anyway...I haven't spent much time in Albuquergue over the years, just a bunch of gas-n-goes and the occasional RON. I'm going to fly my own small airplane out there for the TDY and have a rental car too. Couple questions for anyone in the know... What's a decent FBO, either on ABQ or any of the outlying airports, to park a small plane for a few weeks? For anyone who's gone through the course…
