I think I read in another thread you are going through MC-J transition training; when you get to your unit, look into getting the Lockheed test pilots to come out to your Sq and give a presentation and Q&A. I’ve been to two or three of their roadshows and they were well worth the time. They did some TOLD presentations, cleared up some myths about the J and answered a ton of questions for us. I don’t have a POC, but I’d bet OGV does.

Just read the Israeli study, convincing enough to me that natural immunity should be treated similarly to vaccination if you have the antibodies. If the antibodies were permanent (which they are not) I would support an exemption for mandatory vaccination in the military if you have natural immunity. Though as this transitions to an endemic there will likely be an annual vax requirement similar to the flu.

The BUFF isn’t ever thrust limited; it doesn’t need more. It’s stopping limited (old steel brakes suck), directional control limited, and mx/fuel limited. Same thrust engines let you minimize change to controllability and structural problems, not exacerbate directional control problems, and keep the engines on the wing longer while increasing un-refueled range. I think a lot of people fail to look at the idea of a reduction in maintenance tasks and how much that multiplies when you are talking about a plane with 8 god damned motors to do oil checks and service inspections on much less fix. What I’ve read says same thrust class, better fuel efficiency and less maintenance intensive. I think they wanted to keep it to the same thrust to not have to completely redo the TOLD, as well as not having to do too much work to strengthen the engine pylons.

Let me ask the mods directly: Why have my posts taking issue with another member’s use of a racial slur been removed? I see the post with the slur is still up. Please don’t tell me you are ok with a post using the word “ch**k” but not with posts questioning whether we want that here. I have enjoyed the banter here for many years. It gets spicy at times & is definitely not constrained by political correctness. That said, I believe racial slurs cross a line & that said line exists on this forum. I’d really like to continue to believe that is true.

And it's not about my promotion...it's about caring for the people I've been entrusted with, cadets who are smarter, more motivated, in better shape, and more creative than I ever was. Watching those people get punted before their career even starts, while watching a bunch of grown ass men weep about a vaccine that both my elderly step dad and my teenager took without bitching...well, that's what makes me upset. I don’t have enough words to describe the amount of disgust I feel for you if you look at your fellow squadron members who are making the hardest decision of their life as a promotion opportunity for yourself. Your brain is broken for even thinking that way. As a senior leader, I have had grown men come to my office and completely break down. It’s heartbreaking to watch some of the most competent and loved informal leaders describe their position on these mandates. They have legitimate concerns based on personal factors.

I can remember a time when I held a very firm belief that our government wouldn’t actually make a run on our right to own guns. This was largely due to the fact that I didn’t think there were enough members of our military or police force that would salute smartly and do the work necessary to remove guns from law abiding citizens. I’m clearly wrong. Hell, I’m convinced that there are folks on these very threads that would gladly get behind gun confiscation efforts.

But now it's good? 34 deaths out of 222k cases is what I'm tracking for the military (5). If I do the very rough math as an 11F, getting COVID is about the same mortality risk as flying 100 fighter hours. (1 is public, but your safety office has the same data if you're interested for your MWS) No one has any idea what the risk is of the mRNA gene therapy. I mean if I drink alcohol or smoke cigars I know there is a risk with that and alcohol and tobacco have been around along enough that people have been able to figure that out. Same with riding a motorcycle or flying jets. Those stats exist. I remember when I was in high school the human genome was finally sequenced and academics thought it was going to be a boon for medicine. And here we are 20 years or so later and we really don't know how it works. BUT we can manipulate it a little and get a first order effect. Progress. In the 20th century radium powered glow in the dark watches and then factory workers died of cancer. I'm not saying that this is that. But I am saying that no one knows that it isn't that. Like if it takes a year off your life should you take it? Five years? Ten? What's the metric? If my odds of dying of COVID are 1:1000 and I think I'll live to 80 I should take it if (statistically) I think it's going to take leas than a month off my life. That's like zero biological long term impact. I hope that's the case btw for everyone who's gotten it. As far as the transmission aspect. A study in the Lancet (2) set the reduction in risk from getting COVID from .8% with the Pfizer shots (worst) to 1.3% Astra Zenica (best). This doesn't address the mortality, just the transmission. But those numbers are terrible. My main issue is that there is no long term data set on mRNA gene therapy. There will be in 10 or 20 years but there isn't now. And this isn't something I am willing to bet my personal health on. And this is for a disease that has a 99.9X survival rate for me? Something that studies have shown that if you've had it, the vaccine provides no statistically relevant benefit (Pfizer study - still tracking down link but reference 3 for now, same conclusion). A disease that natural immunity provides longer and 6-7x more immunity than the vaccine (Israel study - 3) The drug companies are making BILLIONS and good for them, but the for sure have their lobbyists and what is in Pfizer's best interest is not NECESSARILY in my best interest. If this is so safe, why are they IMMUNE from liability under federal law? Now that it's "FDA approved" do you really think that will change? (6) I like to read a lot and from what I've read about risk (Nassim Taleb anyone? "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence") getting these shots seems to be a lot like investing in something with a very small probable very large return (not dying from COVID) but can absolutely blow up (you dying much younger). Why are medical doctors and PHDs being silenced on social media? Is it for public health? Would we want to hear all professional opinions of people who spend their whole lives studying these subjects? Here is what gets me. The Trump supporters were so proud and quick to tout him for operation Warp Speed...he actually got the vaccine done in record time. Now that Biden is in power and asking people to get vaccinated the same Trump supporters think the vaccine is the equivalent to getting a chip implanted in their brain. Even though there is case law that supports mandatory vaccines for all (Jacobson v. Massachusetts), I am all about free will and choice. There is a difference for the military...Ironically taking that oath to serve and protect the Constitution gave up all sorts of Constitutional rights. If the vaccine is legally approved there is little resistance ground to stand on. I think there most certainly should be further discussion and research on those who have already had COVID. Having had a nasty fight with COVID....vaccinated or non-vaccinated, I hope you don't get it.
