Light Fighters... interesting article and worth a read IMHO. https://warontherocks.com/2022/02/the-light-fighter-is-the-air-forces-manned-unmanned-team-solution/ Author leaves room for discussion for what I would call mission requirements vs platform requirements, that is what is the mission and then what is the platform required or capable of meeting those technical / performance requirements. How many UCAVs / UAVs would it need to control, at what distance, how resilient to EA to that supplied link, how much organic capability for offense/defense for this platform, etc... most of that I think would be a result of what the cognitive load is determined to …

So question... as BO dot net is a highly secure forum we'll be able to discuss technical details and numbers /s but... I saw this, historical photo of a RAF Canberra bomber with ASW missiles: and wondered what the 11F crowd thought of instead of a loyal wingman (unmanned) why not a manned high flyer (above 50K) with another fighter radar in its nose, node in the link, BLOS that data up and other data in and X-teen missiles to call on from the high ground? One platform, optionally manned, crewed not solo, that does high altitude ISR, C2, BACN, UCAV LOS C2 and arsenal missions. Too much for a community to do all those missions?

I had heard from a T-1 Bud who went to the retirement event at RND that the T-1 is gone from all UPT bases (not counting the CSO training) A few old friends don’t beleive this is the case.

So in the GA thread a tangent got started and a new thread I think is better Background: Accelerated Copilot Enrichment (ACE) was a program for tanker & bomber copilots to fly and develop Total Flight Time to get guys who sat a lot of Alpha Alert to Aircraft Commander upgrade in a reasonable timeframe, it ended in 91 when Strategic Air Command (SAC) was inactivated. 94/95 when Gen Loh of ACC ended the program It made dollars and sense as the T-37s and 38s were cost effective trainers to develop the aviation skills and airmanship you wanted in your future Aircrew Commanders. The flying was different, no autopilot in a fairly nimble aerobatic aircraft, bu…

This thread is in response to all the healthy discussion on an unrelated thread not about the RQ-4, so now there is a thread just for the GH. Hopefully this will help my community fight two battles, the battle to be embraced by big Air Force so we can showcase our capability and the battle to address concerns that we have no capability at all, aka U2 vs RQ-4. So, we would love to integrate in a more meaningful way at Red Flag and tap into our Intel Patch's talent...As it was explained to me, the billet for an organic intel officer was established within the last year. I assume there is an Patch wearer on base but there isn't one in our squadron after former SQ/CC …

Get your training manager to call the Guard Bureau and see if there are any other requests for Laughlin by students selected for Vance or Sheppard(doubtful), its worth a shot. One for one swaps are easier or getting early FY dates are easier to manipulate if your willing to wait a month or two if another student is willing to take Laughlin as a price to go earlier. My friend was working the slots when I worked up in D.C., so I've seen it done. One case of Heineken and I was off to CB instead of Laughlin...but that's a different case literally. Good luck!

So did she get the job because she's sh*t-hot or because she's got tits? Becoming Thunderbird is dream come true for Nevada native by Verla D. Davis 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs 7/6/2005 - ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England (AFPN) -- She was only 5 years old when she saw an F-4 Phantom fighter jet soar and maneuver through the clouds during an air show. It was then she knew she would someday do the same. Now, 26 years later, Capt. Nicole Malachowski is getting her chance to do just that and enter the history book at the same time. The 494th Fighter Squadron flight commander and F-15E Strike Eagle instructor pilot here was recently selected to be the fi…

I was heading to Moab Utah in my lifted jeep when I got pulled over by a Utah trooper coming the other direction. He told me I was doing 82. I laughed outloud because me jeep would fall apart if I was going that speed. He didn't believe me but gave me a ticket for doing 74 in a 65. That is still BS cause I never speed in my jeep as it kills my gas mileage. I was more likely doing 62 than 82. I am still waiting for an OTS date after being selected for a pilot slot on 0505. I had two speeding tickets at that time when I was selected, those I deserved. This one I didn't. I didn't stay in Moab to protest to the judge as I need to be at work on monday. Any advise, will…

Do strike eagle crews generally fly together or do different pilots fly with different WSOs all the time? How does CRM work in the jet? Is it always the pilot "just" flying and the WSO running the radar? Just trying to get an idea of how most sorties go.

So here is the deal. I know most people are highly against ERAU when it comes to their aero sci degree and all of the airline hopefulls, but what would you tell someone who is considering riddle for the purposes of trying to be in one of the best ROTC detachments in hopes of a UPT slot, and wants to be around aviation 24/7? Would you still advise against it. From searching it seems that the majority feel that it is a good school if you arn't in the riddle bubble of garunteed airline pilot after grad. Also, some argue that it is the best ROTC det. due to the number of UPT slots (due to the amount of people seeking them there), but others say the size is what makes it hard…

All-female -135 crew Sounds like 4 empty kitchens to me! Kidding, of course. Seriously though, Saudi controllers treat everyone that way...not just because you are a female.

Search didn't give me what I'm looking for. I'm about to PCS and own two cars both currently registered in different states. My current state (SC) treats cars as property and taxes them every year (which you don't pay if you're an out of state resident) so you pay only a small sales tax. When do we have to register cars in the new state we move to and do you end up having to pay some kind of sales tax (back taxes) when you do that? Or can we just leave cars registered wherever as long as we are AD. I care particularly since I'm about to buy a trailer to PCS (the dity rates are WAY up folks) and I'm trying to figure out if I should avoid paying sales tax on the traile…

Big picture, what are the physical differences between these two? I understand that the HC-130P and MC-130P both do helicopter refueling, but are the only major differences between the actual aircraft the MC's AR (receiver) capability? Other questions: -Any big differences in countermeasures? -Does the MC-P do CSAR at all? -What about infil/exfil? -Can any HC guys give me an idea of what to expect in the ops world (I'm headed to the 79th)? -Finally, what are the big differences in the syllabi for each aircraft Kirtland? I know, lots of questions so thanks for any help - I was search function complete prior to posting.

I started sport skydiving a couple of years ago after completing Freefall at USAFA. I know you can jump on active duty if you watch a hazardous activities brief or somethings like that, but does anyone know if it's allowed during UPT? Preciate it.

Hello, I did a search for pet information while in the military, and it pretty much came up dry for what I'm looking for. I was wondering how easy it is to have a pet while in the military, especially within the flying community. I am pretty much looking for any advice, as to when would be best in your career to deal with a new pet, how easy it is to PCS/TDY with pets, etc. Anything would be helpful. Also, please share what(if any) type of pet you have, and how well it works out for you, and any problems you have run into while on active duty. I am really wanting to buy a puppy right now, but don't want to regret it a few months from now when it becomes a head…
