  1. Trying to be a smartass, but stating the truth. FDR was a complete douchebag and a socialist to the hilt. Almost every policy that he advocated for and got passed by Congress was socialist in nature. He was the ultimate big government bureaucrat who didn't do anything but increase the size and reach of government. It took us years to roll back some of those taxes, but sadly, most of his programs are ingrained into our governmental fabric now.

  4. I have no idea if a B-52, F-22, or KC-135 crew would find it good training. But in doing flyovers with the T-38 (single-ship or formation), yes... it was excellent training. And if in formation, we often bring along someone that has never done a flyover before to get them to see another aspect of flying and flight planning.

  5. Uh, NPR is centered bias, especially when compared MSNBC/CNN. Just because you don’t like what they said doesn’t mean your opinion, or theirs, is codified as fact. https://www.allsides.com/news-source/npr-media-bias

  6. Don't have tons of time, but your idea of a personal attack is seemingly very broad... I say they're old because I know they're already retired. I'm almost there, but they went years ago, so at least older than me, and I'm older than a lot. I stand by my statement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. The general public has no idea how military aviation operates. They don’t understand the training crew gains by hitting a set TOT, they don’t recognize the work that goes into route study and all the coordination it entails. All they see, is the awesome jets flying over at the right time of the Anthem. Then make silly comments like “hard earned tax dollars at work”. Yeah Joe that’s exactly what we’re all paying for...letting aircrew execute their skill set #FlyEaglesFly

  8. The Germans also have had the benefit of a large portion of their national defense being provided directly by the United States and paid out of our taxpayers pockets. Spending little on defense and still living in a relatively secure environment probably frees up a lot of money to try and build a semi socialist paradise.

  9. Well, the PACER CRAG article for KC-135s in the late 90's said almost the same thing. We'll see if they mean actually re-trained through UPT as pilots or more of a long-term billet shuffle. I'm betting there will be less re-training than you think.

  10. I am officially a has-been. My fini flight was this morning, retirement ceremony this afternoon. Bittersweet to say the least. Getting out of that jet for the last time was a bigger deal than I was expecting. It's been a good ride - 21 years in and 18.5 of the last 19 flying the Mighty-Mighty (quick MC-12 stint in AFG back in '11). I haven't been posting much, but it's about to get a lot less. Thanks to all the warriors out there; keep fighting the good fight. Now I'm one of those guys that thank you for your service. I probably won't buy you lunch though - I'm still a cheap-ass airline pilot. Do your best to keep this place following it's roots - helping people in the fight (or trying to get there). Hasta-la-bye-bye. Evil

  12. Nah. The lesson was that a woman can definitely be a president and mess it up just as bad as a man. But no one wants a lying old bag who has a junk attitude to be that woman.

  13. That's all will and good, but your standard is one sided. If anyone had put that level of concern into allegations about Trump, there'd be no Mueller report. Hell, the story surrounding Flynn and the FBI is 100x more substantiated, a true conspiracy, and what you would think the press would go bananas over, the government going after a citizen. How's the coverage of that investigation compared to the non-stop Mueller coverage? It's not that I care that they suck, it's that they suck unequally.

  14. As of a few hours ago the NY Post validated at least some of the emails via someone who was also on the receiving end. I have also seen reports on NY Post and Foxnews (waiting for more), that the person who confirmed the emails also confirmed the "Big Guy" is Joe Biden. Numerous other reports note that hunter always referred to his father as the "Big Guy" or "His Chariman." Personally I believe the FBI has been purposely quiet because there is an ongoing investigation. If this is indeed validated and Joe was taking money...a FAR bigger story than Watergate.

  15. The problem I have is that they aren't doing much to push the world forward. If you look at where innovation comes from, it is vastly, vastly disproportionate. If you were to remove the United States from the equation, or cripple our output to look more like the European countries, the advancement of the planet as a whole would be handicapped. My political philosophy boils down to about 75% caring about what's going to make the world better in 50 years, and 25% making sure that the people who are here now are not suffering unnecessarily. I don't care how the German people are doing right now, my question is are there grandkids going to be better off because of the German way of life, or the American way of life? And yeah, the fact that no one on the left wants to acknowledge that all of these European countries are able to do what they're doing solely due to the largesse of American military spending is rather frustrating.

  16. Clapper/Brennan, et al, are not exactly unbiased observers. It is amusing how so many Trump-related stories have relied on anonymous sources - Steele Dossier/leaked tax returns/supposed disparaging of US war dead, etc, etc, etc - is perfectly valid and doesn't require confirmation even though on the record actors often times have refuted the allegations. Here, a physical laptop was dropped off by Hunter Biden for repair. There is a published work order receipt with Biden's signature on that work order. He failed to pick it up. His attorney, when this started to become a thing, called the shop to demand the laptop. For an unpaid $85, rocket scienctist Hunter opened up this whole can of stupidity. Which had already been subpeonaed by the FBI for a grand jury investigation. Those are on the record facts. Written and attested to by photographic evidence, FBI statements, court filings. The emails on that laptop, on the record verified by at least some of the to/from addressees, reveal a lot about Hunter Biden's means of wealth. Selling his name is an old tradition and not illegal. Where the questions arise are did anyone in the government, to include Joe, do illegal things for that money or the promise of more money? I hope that folks here can be intellectually honest to admit that A) if the name Trump were associated with any of these shenanigans, you'd be calling for more investigative journalism and B) that the same media that relied, literally for years, on anonymous sources that by definition can't verify anything, ran with the stories/issues above incessantly. Even back to the now infamous Dan Rather fakes of W. Bush's Guard letters for which Rather lost his job. Unverified but ran with the story anyway. Now they are not a thing unless the "right" news sources say it's a thing. Aided and abetted by Facebook and Twitter. It is completely an editorial decision to go with a story or not, so if the media accepted as the "only" acceptable media doesn't run it, it is dishonest at the least, but totally their call. For Facebook and Twitter, that is also an editorial decision. Not one of a neutral provider. In 2017, a PRC company deposited $5 million into a Delaware-based LLC listing it as an interest free loan. Which spent the next 12 months depositing that money directly into Hunter's account.

  17. It's decent training. What makes it challenging is that the TOT can shift, especially if you're trying to cross show center right at the end of the national anthem with a live performer that may go faster/slower than planned or rehearsed... Flyovers typically come out of the unit's flying hour program/local training fence, and are supposed to be "non-interference" with the unit's training objectives. So there's no additional cost to the taxpayer for the flyover, and it's usually good publicity for the military. A lot of flyover requests do go unfilled, as flying units are "paying" for them with a training sortie, or may have other operational commitments.

  19. Like they did Steele Dossier? Or Trump taxes? Or Ukraine lies? Anonymous intelligence leaks? There is a receipt with his signature, pictures of said person, emails that are confirmed by recipient of those emails, statements by people working with Biden, FBI investigation into CP and money laundering, FBI disposition with laptop serial number, FBI/DOJ saying it's not a Russian disinformation campaign. Left - "cannot authenticate"

  22. When I said do better, I was referring to a perceived tendency of yours to infer things from what people say, not just me. Then you proceed to “educate” people on what you erroneously attributed to them. What questions am I not answering? When I make a point to highlight yet again that I am not advocating for universal healthcare, and I also agreed with a lot of your points on why it wouldn’t work in our country, there is no longer really any valid questions coming from you that merit an answer. I don’t care what countries are socialist and what aren’t. Had nothing to do with the point I made. Go back and reread what I said (that’s also part of the “do better”. Read the words people say, not what you want it to say so you can then “educate” them again) because it’s pretty clear what I was saying. So, once again, my bad if I’ve skipped any questions. Hit me again, Ike, and this time put some stank on it. I’ll answer your questions. I brought those countries up because they have literally been mentioned in here a few times the last few days as examples of countries that do have systems closer to socialist programs with higher taxes and universal healthcare. The people living in said countries seem to be pretty dang happy with it, so I asked why there was a need to constantly belittle what is clearly working for, and making those people happy. It doesn’t mean that’s what I think we should be doing here. Let me make it painfully clear one more time: my bottom line is that our current system sucks. We can do better. I encourage the discussion in here because there are smart people on this subject that have brought up smart points. There’s a couple of old cranks in here that just refuse change because that’s in their nature. I’m not engaging with those people. I’m engaging with the people that bring something to the table even if we’re “just tilting at windmills...” Who knows, maybe someone in this forum will one day be instrumental in the future policy making of this awesome country. This “tilting” might just make a difference. I know I’ve learned from both sides of the conversation. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  27. How does my pointing out hat socialism and paradise don’t belong together allows you to assume I’m trying to act superior? Then you continue on and agree with me.....what? Now are you implying those countries are socialist? They aren’t. Like was previously pointed out if you want the government to run more aspects of citizens daily lives then they lose freedoms. And the government decides a lot of things for individuals in socialist countries. I like my freedoms. I seriously don’t get why people want our country to change into something it’s not because some other country may have it. Our country is amazing. Why wouldn’t you go there if you think it’s better instead of trying to change people and a system that doesn’t want to change? I don’t care if it hurts or helps as a whole in your opinion. That’s just it, I don’t want you or others deciding what’s best for me. Are their socialist countries in Europe? If so which ones? Also (for negatory) no system is free from infallible humans. It just happens to be a better system because for the most part it is founded upon consensual agreements and freedoms. Which is a large reason it is completely unique in the world and another reason we live in the best country in the world.

  29. An interesting day yesterday. I learned (no thanks to Facebook or Twitter which continue to either slow or completely block any info on this.): - That the now infamous Hunter laptop - public because he left it there and didn't pay an $85 repair bill - was subpoenaed for a grand jury by an FBI agent who specializes in child porn cases. - That Guiliani turned over to Delaware police photos of underage girls from the laptop. True, it is unknown to me if those images are of the gross, illegal kind. - Emails to/from Hunter about inappropriate situations regarding underage girls. - That a former business associate of Hunter's was removed from the general population of the prison he was incarcerated in yesterday. Same guy who is, apparently, providing information about Hunter and others regarding some Indian casino tax scam. The one where two of the three partners went to jail, but only Hunter wasn't charged. - That the pictures of Joe and Hunter with Kazakh business partners of Hunter's puts paid to the Joe claim "of I knew nothing of his business dealings." As did the numerous Air Force Two accompanied trips. As well as the numerous pay-offs to "The Big Guy." - That Joe Biden considers Poland and Hungary as "totalitarian regimes." As a double hypothetical, if Biden wins, does he immediately pardon Hunter or wait until his last day as other Presidents did before helping out family? It's certainly legal to do so, but I wonder if Kamala would like that? I admit I'm not contributing to the healthcare in America theme running, but I also try not to tilt at windmills. It has never ended well either in fiction or in real life.

  30. I lean conservative but I for one could care less about socialized health care, and I think, for the most part, a lot of Republicans wouldn't. This is a great example of a potential compromise. Make an agreement for a balanced budget going forward and get Democrats to cave on an issue Republicans really so care about. Dems always want to lump gun control with healthcare. (Under Obama, the Natl Center for Disease Control was responsible for researching gun violence) Tell Dems they can have health care full stop but most agree to reciprocity for concealed carry and certain types of fire arms owner ship nation wide. Now you have something. One thing I wish from the left on this topic is they need to be more honest on it. You will increase access to healthcare but you will 110% decrease quality. If you've never had premium, private health care, it's night and day compared to the goose shit we get from Tricare. (Which is honestly probably better than whatd a full public system would be) I played a lot of sports in highschool and also did MMA. Getting access to steroids, pain killers and rehabilitation therapies was 1000X easier than the cluster fuck I need to go through now. Fortunately, I can thank Tricare for a permanent shoulder injury now because I doctor didn't want to jump straight to doing a contrast dye MRI when I knew I had a rotator cuff tear and thought 4 months of physical therapy exercising the tear would just magically make it go away. Great thing I can't sue the government! Oh and I want nation wide PT testing. No way I want to pay higher taxes cause some lazy ass doesn't know how to say know to Nachos and sprints to pre Diabetes at the ripe old age of 40. Edit: Germany is another good example of public compromise. Hope you didn't want anastetic for that minor out patient surgery because there's a good chance the government might not pay for it. Better suck it up!

  31. I think anybody who lost a son, daughter, father, mother, brother, or sister for no purpose or benefit to national security would disagree. An Afghanistan presence isn’t even close to a deterrence for major powers in that part of the world, and certainly has no real quantifiable objective or reasoning behind it. People’s children who weren’t even born when this shit started are going off to get killed and kill people in Afghanistan who weren’t alive when it started either. We shouldn’t have a single American in that place.

  35. In one of my M9 classes there was an airman from services that was deploying to Kuwait to hand out towels at the gym and needed M9 for some reason. She had never handled a weapon outside of basic and never handled a pistol at all. I had to help her load her magazines. At the end of the qual she had one of the best groupings in the class and shot expert. She just listened to what the CATM instructors were saying and had no preconceived notions on how to fire a pistol. Damndest thing I ever saw.
