Too many people (including Biden) profit from high oil prices. None of those who work the oil fields here in Texas liked it when the price of a barrel dropped as far as it did, how are they expected to pay for their $85K pick-ups when gas is cheap?!?! Nsplayr, continue to support your boy Biden all you like; but the current economic crisis is all his fault. Your 'blame Trump' chant is old and always has been. I am sure you'll attack the sources as like Biden you've become a master of the "deny, deny, deny, counter accuse, demand an apology' response to any criticism; but the truth is his presidency is lining up to be an epic failure of biblical proportions, and no amount of propagandist BS from you is going to convince anyone otherwise! https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-says-inflation-putin-fault-not-democratic-spending https://www.breitbart.com/economy/2022/03/10/inflation-february/6 points

Oh supply vs demand always reigns supreme. But…it’s almost as if restrictive regulations also have a strong part in the game when it comes to production/prices. Hell, one of the leading contenders for the Dem’s 2020 nominee said he was against all new fracking and wanted to rapidly end existing fracking. Oh and he’s now the Transportation Secretary.3 points

Not long term. Demographics are still necessitating mass retirements, and airports are still packed. I think the larger inflation problems might lead to softer demand, but it’s a long way from that to appreciable drops in hiring.2 points

The entire discussion around EVs as a panacea for high oil prices seems a bit misguided. About 40% of the typical barrel of oil is turned into gasoline. The rest goes to jet fuel, diesel, resins, etc. If you waved a magic wand and turned every personal vehicle in the US into an EV overnight, you'd still have the same problems of securing a steady oil supply.1 point

No need to risk a B-2 - The Air Force wants $48 million to drop commandos into battle from orbit Anyone remember Col John Warden and his Five Rings...he was the architect of the first Gulf War Air Campaign and in follow on work advocated for food bombing.1 point

Teachers aren't the main problem with our education system from what I've seen. Teaching AFJROTC at a high school now and a heck of lot of parents don't care one iota about their kid's education or whether Sally studies or Johnny turns in his homework. There is only so much a teacher can do to make a student take the class seriously, take notes, study, do the homework, etc. The parents need to make Johnny or Sally do that. Rant switch off...1 point

Who is your boss? Why does he/she not know that you are entitled flight gear in the position you are in? With that being said, there are items essential for the execution of your flying duties (not Apple pens and watches) and then there are items that are purchased with excess funds throughout the year or during the typical, mindless government-end-of-fiscal-year spending frenzies (Apple pens and watches). I would talk to an FM supervisor to see if they know of an AFI/AFMAN the governs unit spending. A lot of items, such as Apple pens and watches probably fall into a gray area as long as the CC can justify they are being purchased for official duties and are essential to the mission.1 point

So your post was intentionally misleading. It’s almost as if the left is suddenly trying to make the argument that Biden and his policies are better for oil production than Trump was during his term. I guess that’s what happens when you have high inflation/gas soon to be over $5 a gallon and you’re trying to tell the American people that your policies are actually good for energy prices even though Biden and the left are literally on record saying how they want to drastically reduce fossil fuel production. I know you want to say this has nothing to do with politics, but the truth is that this has everything to do with politics. The high inflation wasn’t an accident…and originally the left was saying it was a good thing and not to worry because it was “transitory”. But hey, just go buy an electric car if you don’t like the high gas prices… https://nypost.com/2021/11/29/buttigieg-slammed-for-urging-electric-car-buying-to-counter-gas-prices/1 point

The latest from the nitwit in chief: "And, by the way, we can’t be — this is the United States of America. We can’t be the country where for a mom to get her kid on the Internet to be able to do their homework has to pull into a McDonald’s parking lot. I mean, for real, that’s what was happening. This law is going to put an end to all of that. It’s going to put people in a much different position to be able to determine their own — their own judgments about when to sell their cattle, when they should — I just — just — we’re going to change things." In case you think it is fake you can find the exact transcript here on Whitehouse.gov.1 point

A wag that I’ve heard folks in the extraction business use is $80 a barrel to produce from shale plays like the Permian (much of TX) and Bakken (Dakotas). When the price of oil is below that, producers in these areas can’t turn a profit; you’d expect production to decrease, even with an increase in price, until the price of crude stabilizes above that key number (+- an extraction operation’s comparative advantage and/or risk tolerance.) I’d expect the 2022 projection to increase, but only as fast as we can reopen the more advanced plays. [$$] It’s not intuitive when you’re paying $130 to fill the truck, but domestic production lags the price of oil and always will in a capitalist society. (Which everybody knows, but is easy to forget when there’s sport bitching to do.) Would be a great time to have an RV camp in Midland… as long as you don’t mind a gunfight here or there.1 point

Guess I picked a bad day to own a vehicle which only consumes premium fuel. $5.15/gal this morning. Did Joe do that, or was it Putin?1 point

Def interesting. One has to assume that if you have somebody in office whose going to push to keep doing things the way we've been doing them, oil producers will be more comfortable pushing investment toward future production. If you get somebody who wants to turn they way we power our world on its head, those investments are going to lag. Transitioning to different power sources, even if its only partially, isn't going to be seamless. CD players didn't disappear over night when the ipod was first released.1 point

All things end, if Putin doesn't go NBC with his army outnumbered since babushkas armed with lethal pickle jars now are also armed with AK-47s. Their budget most likely pocketed by Oligarchs and Generals instead of being spent on training and equipment, an NCO corps in name only is probably the reason why so many Russian Generals are being killed with nobody up front to maintain discipline and keep the troops on point. My question is what will happen to us when it is realized by voters in Peoria that the big bad bear is a paper tiger. Will DOD get smaller, and the budget goes to peaceful pursuits? Just think of the lower-class kids receiving a great education by well-paid and respected teachers, the horror.1 point

45-60 days prior is pretty standard per AFPC. There's a lot more inprocressing to do at formal training bases than a normal pcs additionally there's some required tasks (observe events) that CB requires prior to start unless you're guard/reserve or have previous experience (previous white jet IP time, etc). All single students are required to stay on base unless you're a Capt or higher. I would say stay on base for the ease of convenience to everywhere you'll go. At least that's what I'm doing but I'll be in family housing.1 point

Where are y'all seeing the end of the 2.5%? I plan to go with Fidelity's 2% if/when my 2.5% goes away. Edit: Nevermind, found it in my wife's documents. Card's in her name. Well I guess I'll join the ranks of moving my main bank from USAA.1 point

Yup! It was like the very first ils clearance in pilot training. You knew exactly what was coming, prepared for it, rehearsed it, then: ATC: Iron 73 fly heading 150, maintain 3000 feet until established, cleared the ILS runway 13 right. Me: Iron board 737, cleared to land 3000 feet, heading 13, good OBOGS. The other mind fuck is your first experience with ramp. Imagine trying to drive a 737 through a six-lane roundabout in Kabul during rush hour. That's pretty close to CLT ramp.1 point

You won't even know what you don't know with your contract until at least a year in. If you find the hustlers and pick their brains you might have a good hustle by your third year. I'm at 4 years now and I probably qualify as an expert in the contract (from the perspective of a line pilot, not a union negotiator). Top 5% for sure. You will be comfortable as an airline pilot quickly. Don't let your comfort in the cockpit translate to comfort with the work rules. The more effort you put into learning the game, the better the job will be.1 point
