Best advice I ever got was from an American captain at the hotel bar on a nice overnight.

”son go back to your room and strip naked and look at yourself in the mirror. Does she really want that? Or does she want what you can provide?”

never looked at it the same since

Got a similar talk from our Intel officer prior to a Red Flag.

"If she's a 10 and you're a 5, she wants something costly from you."

After 72 beers I'm pretty sure I'd be in the hospital, not a bonus hole 😂

Busch Lights are like drinking La Croixs.   Bubbly cold water with a hint of flavor.

This is why I loved the fact that my boss for a lot of my career (SQ/CC to OG/CC to WG/CC) married a 1CO from his squadron when he was on AD.  There's no top cover like a fellow player of the sport of kings.  That said, you got to be smart enough to keep it out of their face so you don't force their hand.  Maybe I should write a book for the 2Lt single guys...could save a career lol.

New #2 Comm Priority.

1.  Lead's on Fire

True story.   On a Nellis trip, a new OG (from off station) was standing in the lobby of the casino/hotel, when two girls walk past with lots of skin showing.  He says to the D.O., "Oh look, the working girls are out already."   D.O. says, uh sir, that's two of your 1CO's... 🤣.

Two things can be true at the same time.

1Cs are awesome!   The weird part is seeing them on a random Tuesday in the squadron, in uniform.

"Hey Sugar Tits, I mean SrA Sugar Tits.   I need to do a records reveiw."

1. Sex with the wrong person.

2. Money

3. Offended the wrong person.

It's usually #1.

I've long thought that Big Blue should publish leadership mishaps like we do for aviation, with the same level of privilege protections and the overall intent that we can learn from the mistakes of others.

You don't have time to make them all yourself, so might as well learn from others.

One could make the argument that the information eventually comes out, but I'd counter with the same "links in the chain" that safety discovers. How many times in a leader's past did we have a chance to avoid the catastrophe  waiting in the wings? How can we learn to break that chain earlier in the sequence?

If you fire someone, I think you should have to write that report. Might keep a Bob busy enough to cancel one of the BS meetings that we love so much.

Lotta good words here.  Last couple CCs  and SELs I’ve seen get canned in AFSOC have come with zero explanation from the higher ups.  It would kill the gossip chain quite a bit and possibly let people learn from other’s mistakes if we implemented the recs above.  Not to mention maybe giving the rank and file a little restored trust in the system.

If it's a fireable offense, then it should've run afoul of at least one AFI and/or an article of the UCMJ. Though publicly listing which ones would amount to a public accusation and could drive a lot of legal ramifications including calls to prove it. The frag pattern could catch a lot of people guilty or innocent that would like this to go away quietly.

I think Big Blue cares a lot more about how this would play in the press and by extension Congress/public opinion than what the rank-and-file think.

Effectively Big Blue is exercising the "right" against self-incrimination. Not saying I necessarily agree that it's right but the way it is.

Damn, fired to be retired in a rank that most officers never reach. Thoughts and prayers.

If you receive anything other than an LOC, you record is reviewed to set one your rank at retirement.  I’ve personally known commanders who were fired, given paperwork, and retired with a lesser rank.

I have also seen the same thing happen via a board of inquiry. However, said BOIs were assembled due to a court-martial or NJP while at said senior rank. If the dipshit who was the 19 AF/CC is acquitted of the serious charges in his GCM, but found guilty of the minor infractions, he won't be retiring a two-star. However, I've seen that the odds of a BOI being assembled only go up depending on how public the accusations become.

Negative—if I remember correctly from the lead JA from my base several years ago.  Anything higher than an LOC in a UIF has to go up.

That process is one of the most painful processes ever, especially when it happens during a pandemic!  In the case I dealt with, it was a complete waste of everyone's time.  But it "had to be done," because reasons (regs with not even an ounce of leeway).  His packet was sent up with every CC on base recommending he be retired in his current rank...and over 2 years later we got the response agreeing with the recommendation. I would love to know how many man-hours were blown on something we all knew would happen.  So fucking stupid.

The one that really seems weird to me is the Cannon OG. Scuttlebutt was that was a lot of processes not being followed, poor admin for flying ops (DNIF flyers, etc), and things of that nature. Not personal conduct. If that’s true, that should really be a case study at PME of how that happens.
