I’m not a Commander or anybody worth much of a crap in the military, but I’d be willing to be a part of that movement. I don’t think those actions are disloyal or anything like that. Hell, I’d say Lt Col Scheller’s actions epitomize the USAF’s core values in asking for integrity, putting the service before the individual, and a demand for excellence.

She may not have been Form 8 qualified, but test pilots periodically fly front or left seat in aircraft where they are doing all of the flying, to include ground ops. These flights are called qualitative evaluations. The IP, if there is even space for one, is only a safety observer, nothing more. Moreover, test pilots are allowed to log primary time on qualitative evaluations as they are performing the role of pilot-in-command and experimental test pilot, gathering data on handling, flying qualities, systems performance, etc. for later tests and evaluations. I do not take umbrage with her doing so as much as seeing a "run-of-the-mill" pilot turned general stating they flew aircraft in which they were really a passenger while in their commander role. Take, for instance many of the Nellis Wg/CCs. I doubt any of them have actually flown all of the aircraft listed or were qualified given their typical CAF background. Is it okay to state you flew the T-37, T-38, T-1, etc. while in UPT even though you lacked a Form 8 or had an IP onboard? Edited to add: The fighter-type aircraft she listed were syllabus aircraft at the TPS.

How many dead Americans does that equal if we allow everyone to be exposed to the virus organically? I don't know the answer, but in many communities even limited outbreaks have lead to morgues and hospitals being overwhelmed. So while the statistical odds of death and hospitalization may seem slim, letting the virus "run its course" will lead to many, many, otherwise preventable deaths. How many dead Americans are we willing to accept? A million? Two million? More? Are we willing to sacrifice the old and the overweight who would continue to live if not for COVID in the name of Darwinism? If so, why bother treating any disease? Those, combined with no long term data on the vaccine (the currently unmeasured, potential danger of the vaccine), is what makes it a rational decision for many to pause on the vaccine…for now anyways.

A small number of children were impacted in the U.S. by unregulated clinical trials of the drug, and following that, more restrictions were put on clinical testing to require FDA oversight so that it could be avoided in the future. Thalidomide was eventually approved by the FDA for treatment of serious ailments in adults that can consent to its use with full knowledge of its side effects. It was not approved when it caused widespread harm to unsuspecting mothers and their children. Your anecdote can only serve as evidence for why you should have great faith in something that has made it through the FDA approval process. Extended stay hotels work as well. I stayed 2 months at a pit pad before moving to an extended stay hotel. No more worrying about getting blocked in the driveway or fighting a bunch of other dudes for fridge space or the bathroom to get ready in the morning.

This is how I differentiate between what I accept and what I don’t choose to participate in. I’ve never preboarded, and when I go out to eat I make sure I tip the majority of the discount back to the wait staff on top of the 20% pre-discounted amount.

I see a difference between discounts that don’t affect anyone but the seller (Lowe’s, Epic Pass) and ones that allow me to gain an advantage over regular Joes (overhead bins and seat choice).

And Lowes...gents, Lowes is for housewives and people who don't know what they are doing. Find a local contractor, become friends, figure out where he shops for supplies and go there. It's usually better stuff, and beats the Lowes 10% off. Lastly, don't get me started on spouses and discounts....
