Can anyone point to a specific audio cable to record ics/radios for GoPro video? Specifically looking for the C17. I’ve found a few “military/helo” cables, but not sure if those are synonymous with high impedance of the C17. Cheers

Not a very exciting thread I'm sure! What do folks get their family members when they retire? Everyone does flowers at the ceremony and I'm guessing it is like a funeral at the house with many sets of flowers for all the woman-folk... I know it is not typically a time to celebrate them, but I'd like to make this as much of a day for at least my immediate family as I feel they have put up with a lot of sacrifices along the way. Thoughts? Obviously jewelry, but is there something that is a bit unique? Anything besides jewelry? Kids are nearing or in teenage years. Thanks!

For those of you who train, I am curious if there are any good places that some folks may recommend to train at during UPT? Or are there any academies/training facilities on the bases?

Which of the single-pilot airframes have ADS-B now? T-38C? T-6? Any fighters? If not, what are the plans? Separate question: If the T-6 doesn't have ADS-B, does it have some sort system to identify squawking traffic?

Hello, I fly a jet equipped with an ejection seat. During a deployment, I started developing neck, back, and hamstring pain. I notified my flight doc and she attributed my pain to muscle soreness and suggested I wait to see if it heals on its own. Two months later, I woke up with excruciating pain. MRI results concluded that a cervical disc tore and my nerves are being “severely” pinched (annular tear, spinal stenosis, cervical radiculopathy are the medical terms). My lumbar spine has the same condition at a “moderate” level (which explains the hamstring pain). In addition, my pectoral and tricep muscles are not responding and are atrophying. Hello friends. 6 to 9 month ago, I retired as a T-38 IP reservist. Talking to friends that are still hacking the mish (cool pilot talk 🙂 ), they are seeing numerous problems in T-38 land. 1st, the reduction in T-6 syllabus flying time is noticeable in newbie skill level and SA. 2nd, flight room daily morning briefs and daily stand-up are a thing of the past due to.... 3rd, IP manning is terrible. Supposedly AETC needed 249 IPs in FY 2019, they got 150 - everyone is separating. 4th, there are not enough civilian simulator instructors. Anyone else seeing the same stuff? Hopefully, the Russians (long ago) removed all them nuke artillery projectiles/nuke warheads/etc that were stored at this site - back in the day. There's a potential for a wee bit of fallout from this accident if these nuke assets are still stored at this site and they were involved/damaged/consumed by the conventional explosions/fires/etc. Note; Once upon a time - this particular "Nuclear Weapon Storage Site was probably on our ICBM/Nuke Bomber hit list":<)

I’m an active duty Capt who managed to escape the MSG and about to start UPT at Columbus. I heard some gouge (from two Lt FAIPs) about late rated guys who end up tracking T-38s rarely end up in a fighter. Do they not like sending older folks to fighters (I’m 29)? I commission into the active duty Air Force via an interservice transfer in August. AFPC/DP2LT is saying I need to PCS to my gaining unit (OCONUS) to in-process and then proceed TDY for my initial -135 PIQ course. The MSgt at the AFPC office is concerned that I won’t get paid if I don’t in-process prior to going TDY. When I reached out to my gaining base finance, that MSgt was wondering why I needed to go there first and not just do a TDY enroute. I realize doing an interservice transfer is a rare occurrence, but would anyone know applicable AFIs or AFMANs that might apply? Or, just know the answer? I am looking for some help on the TBAS flashcards. I understand the concept and am able to get the correct answers when it shows the direction I am heading on the compass, but when it shows it on the map like in these two images I cannot figure out what direction I am heading. Based on what I see, the top of the map is North, so the it looks I would be heading East and North in the two images respectively. However, I know this is wrong but I can't figure out why. What am I missing that shows I would be heading West and South?

I was referred to this forum by a current active duty AF pilot. I am currently in the end process of the AF Officer application process and currently have a scheduled start date for OTS. There are a couple of things that have come up in the last couple of weeks that have raised some red flags regarding the information I have been given by my recruiter versus what I have been told by several current AF pilots as well as a flight instructor. I am wanting to fly, however my overall GPA from college is just under the 3.00 requirement (2.75).
