https://patch.com/pennsylvania/horsham/horsham-military-pilot-injured-daughter-killed-plane-crash I’ve know Deane for a long time. I first got to know him when he was flying F-16s in the Fort Smith, AR guard. Terrible news to say the least. Many thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family for the loss of their daughter.

Keep an eye-- 47th FS A-10s are making their way to Randolph today, and Vance tomorrow. A few of us will be around to show off the Hog and tell some lies about things we've done over the last decade to 1/4 century. On the official note, and the reason this didn't go straight to the Squadron Bar forum, a handful of us FTU IPs were invited to take a roadshow of UPT by MGEN Wills. One of our IPs is heavily involved in some online forums, and his continued commentary (always constructive... mostly) generated the all-expenses paid trip to see what all this hullabaloo is all about first-hand. We've got questions from our perspective as the next in-line to the UPT/IFF p…

I was scrolling through my MP3s and found an old forgotten favorite of mine from college. Its an Irish folk song by a guy named Christy Moore. Its called Lisdoonvarna, and I can attest that its a great drinking song especially when all in the place of drink is singing and there is someone playing a spoon and a cookiesheet. Great times. What are your favorite drinking songs?

Long story short, I incurred another 4 year commitment because I failed to transfer my GI-Bill benefits in time. I would like to retire ASAP, and I was wondering if anyone has had luck with any kind of waiver to avoid the additional commitment? Is there a precedent for such a thing?

Good day all, Hope the experts on here can chime in. AFI 36-2501 has me all spun around. I know its a long post, but thanks in advance for those that take the time to read! My updated info: 1) ADSC 1: 30 Apr 2023 (Bonus) 2) ADSC 2: 31 Jul 2022 (PCS) 3) TAFMS: May 2000 (21+ years) I meet my 2nd look for O-5 in March 2022 (LAF-A). Following standard timeline, I should expect the results roughly 1 Jul 2022. Im looking at multiple options and cant get any answers from MPF, and trying to decide if I should write a letter to the board to not consider. If for some miracle I was promoted, I wouldn’t pin on til after im on terminal o…

As the title says I accepted a bonus and now I want to pay it back and get out. I love the Air Force, but I’ve come into some money and want to pursue other goals in life. I recall the bonus paperwork going pretty high up if I decide to pay it back and get out, but was curious if any of you have any experience or know anyone that has done this? I want to have all my ducks in a row before I start anything formal so any recommendations you all have would be appreciated. if anyone is curious I’ve made this money in investments and now I’m being recruited into some cool startups. I am not joking when I say I love the Air Force, but we only have so much time on this earth…

Question. If someone were out on a weekend cross country in a white jet and actually overflying home station when a generator fails, and that pilot elects to land at the airfield even though it is closed and uncontrolled for the weekend, is that a Q3’able event? Anyone see anything right or wrong with this? (It’s something that actually happened at a training base recently to a reservist by an OG) Withholding my thoughts

What are my fellow PCS'ers doing in this market? I recently PCSed and home prices like much of the nation are wild around here. I keep trying to wrap my head around buying a house that appreciated 80k in 2 years and its tough. A house that sold in 2019 on zillow for 270 is now 350! On one hand, if I stay renting I am paying ~17-20K to someone else. On the other, if I buy even at these prices and stay for 2-3 years, that's equity I could be pocketing (even assuming a 10% market drop).

Word is a hydraulic malfunction, crew declared an IFE, and upon landing one of the main gear collapsed and the aircraft ran off the runway. No injuries, thank God! https://www.kmbc.com/amp/article/b-2-bomber-sustains-damage-emergency-landing-whiteman-air-force-base/37599054

https://www.dodbuzz.com/2015/01/16/general-praising-the-a-10-to-lawmakers-is-treason/ General: Praising the A-10 to Lawmakers is ‘Treason’ By Brendan McGarry Friday, January 16th, 2015 2:13 pm Posted in Air, Policy A top U.S. Air Force general warned officers that praising the A-10 attack plane to lawmakers amounts to “treason,” according to a news report. Maj. Gen. James Post, vice commander of Air Combat Command, was quoted as saying, “If anyone accuses me of saying this, I will deny it … anyone who is passing information to Congress about A-10 capabilities is committing treason,” in a report published Thursday on The Arizona Daily Independent. In a response to…

I am an enlisted Marine Corps C-130 Nav. I have a couple (not excessive) tattoos. One is prominent on my forearm. I am a couple of months shy of my B.S. and working on my private pilots license. Would this prohibit me from becoming an Officer or of getting a pilot slot in the ANG, AFRES, or as an Army reserve WO? Any thoughts on which would be the best route to take? Appreciate any help. *BTW wutz up Riddler

We have been ramping up our DTOC CT program and wondering if there are other units outside of F35 and MQ9 that are linking up and doing virtual exercises. It’s a good way to dry run dissimilar CT before we go out and burn the JP8 for real. Looking to add more friends to the party. HMU por favor.

A piggyback of sorts...as far as IPs, are they qual'd to teach all the stuff, or just the stuff from the jet they came from? Would a C-model guy IP for a SA ride? Also, little bit of a thread hijack, but if you're not already an IP and you go back to the schoolhouse to be an IP, do you have to go to PIT? [ 26. July 2005, 16:06: Message edited by: NSFW ]

Wondering if there is time on the weekends during UPT to fly my own plane? I would prefer it not sit in storage for a whole year so trying to figure out what to do with it. Also would flying General Aviation at the same time hinder training in any way?

What's something you've experienced recently from the Air Force that's been positive? Doesn't matter if it's something the Air Force officially is doing, did for you, or something good you got from it. Let's get some enlightening posts shared around here!

So, there i was for the 10th plus time at finance, its 1 day before i am supposed to pick up my rental truck and other equipment before i PCS 2 days from now. I go to the counter like i always do, sign in, sit down and wait..... I consider myself fairly up-to-speed on things like filling out forms, following up, getting as much info as possibe, and looking up the regs to educate myself on how the world goes around at finance but, with all these precautinary steps, and my prior reserve/enlisted experience I still am amazed how unreliable finance is. I turned in my paperwork early like i always do, and of course for my DITY move advance (60% upfront), and all other pay allo…

Should I receive DLA as a single guard guy with no dependents that PCS'd to UPT then PCS'd home afterwards? If it matters I lived in the duplexs at DLF. I read the DLA facts that is linked from the baseops homepage and I couldn't determine if I was eligible or not. Finance back home is giving me the runaround as well by saying they aren't sure if I should receive it either. [ 05. February 2007, 11:14: Message edited by: pcgoeken ]
