So we can't discuss "that the Jan 6 violence was a result of FBI 'encouragement'" but instead we should readily believe that the the Jan 6 violence was a result of Trump, his sons, Rudy Giuliani, and all the Alex Jones type "media" figure's 'encouragement'? I'm literally no neither side of this argument, but what you just said doesn't pass any kind of logic test. That's literally a dressed up version of "Don't listen to them because they're wrong. Such as the fact that a man was recorded actively encouraging a mob...who then decried him as a fed btw...to go into the capitol building. The FBI put him on the watchlist...then promptly remove him from their watch list entirely, and then refuse to acknowledge who he is. Even if he is/was an FBI plant, what he was inciting the croud to do is illegal...and he was recorded...with his knowledge...inso doing. Yet no FBI pursuit. That doesn't sound suspicious to you? At all? More importantly, if you can't see the political benefit of encouraging a political opponent's base to riot and go into (can we call it invading?) government offices, I beg you to step back and see the forest for the trees. The benefits are incalculable. Why do you think they're bring it up again a year later? One person died, and then the capitol of our republic, by the people for the people, was shut off from the people through military means. Meanwhile, where is the outcry over the CHAZ? Where are the news stories commemorating how the federal, state, and local governments are helping the hundreds of citizens killed, injured, displaced, or otherwise negatively impacted by the events all across the west coast? Do you even know the death toll from the CHAZ? I'll spell it out: Getting your enemies to attack you and make you look like the victim when you are in power gives you more power. That's how bullies and thugs operate. They bully who they don't like until that person attacks them back, the bully times it so the response occurs in front of the principle or the police, so the bully looks like the victim. This is nothing new, and politicians are REALLY good at it. If you cannot objectively see how both sides of the political spectrum, especially the extremists in power seats right now, are crafting the narrative to sway your opinion, well, I politely ask you to stop watching CNN and/or Fox News for a minute and read a little more history about how countries collapse. We're showing all the symptoms friend. It's not good...and the current leaders are making it much, much worse.

Did any agents or confidential informants committed crimes of violence on Jan. 6? #3. Did any agents or confidential informants "actively encouraged" crimes of violence on Jan. 6? Exactly. We have only been at this for two years and in the grand scheme of things know very little about this virus still. Each variant has caught the country with our collective pants down, and spiked the cases, hospitalizations, and deaths each time. And right before each spike, far right pundits have been busy declaring the pandemic over. Meanwhile the left is busy turning everyone off to common sense prevention measures because they're in full retard panic mode determined to mandate absolutely everything. I'm afraid we might be stuck in this stupid cycle for a long time.

I don't give them the benefit of the doubt. They've overstepped bounds and done "shady stuff" too many times for me to trust them based on the FBI name. Additionally...if the FBI had folks in the crowd trying to get the crowd to storm the capitol, who will not face any charges...doesn't that diminish any rhetoric about trying president Trump for encouraging the crowd to storm the capitol? After all...he was the head of the executive branch. If we think people acting on his behalf were in bounds to exhort that sort of action, why would it be out of bounds if the president did it?

I'm starting drift towards her viewpoint (was honestly on the fence for a while, wasn't sure what I thought of the situation). Putin's list of demands for this latest round of "negotiations" read like something from the late 19th century, or maybe 1938-39. Either way most of those demands are non-starters. At a minimum, in addition to what you mentioned above, I think we should start providing additional heavy conventional armaments to Poland and the Baltic states. Army has reactivated its European long range artillery unit I believe. Maybe its time to station an armored division or two in Poland permanently as well. F-35s to Romania. Reactivate a NATO led Baltic Sea flotilla formed around small SAGs. I'm sure there's reasons why all this is a bad idea but letting Putin reestablish a new Russian empire at the expense of our allies and at least a semblance of the international order is horseshit.

I once attended a pre deployment brief he put on for a squadron going out the door. Figured it was going to be the standard “go get ‘em, be safe, and the country thanks you for service” type deal. Boy was I wrong. Story was basically he swapped out another deployed SQ CC back in the early 2000s right before the holidays, GO1 was in effect. Line dogs asked him if he was going to fly in booze for Christmas like the previous CC did the year before. He said no, started a CDI, and got the previous CC who was his “buddy” a Art 15. (I think, I don’t 100% remember the punishment) He concludes the story with his buddy ended up getting out and has had a successful airline career after the incident. it was the strangest pre deployment pep talk I’ve ever heard, and told me everything I need to know about my employment choices when my time is up.

This conversation should be near the end. Nothing has worked to prevent the spread. Not the vaccines, not the masks, not the closures, not the social distancing, not the bazillion dollars spent, not the fear tactics. Not anything. It’s here to stay and we will all get it. A few things here: Allowing military members to defy direct orders based on their religious beliefs will undoubtedly weaken, not strengthen our military. Another thing that will weaken, not strengthen our position in the world would be not being able to deploy forces at a moment’s notice due to host nation requirements. Yet another thing that weakens, not strengthens our military is having entire ships or combat units taken out of action due to mass illness. Suggest you check the mirror as it is you, not I who is supporting policies that will weaken our military.

I agree with you, but I do find it funny. You know the Spanish flu barely killed anyone in the beginning, then killed the vast majority after a major mutation? The truth is, we don’t know how this will go. For all we know, this could go the way of the bubonic plague and be endemic for decades and have a similar mortality rate throughout. Hope not, though.
