Here is the question : Two aircraft, one heavier than the other, descending at the same airspeed. Which aircraft will have the greater VVI and why? The question came up today in a conversation with some friends and most agreed the lighter acft would have the greater VVI but couldn't agree on why. Excuse my ignorance on the subject. Thanks in advance for your input

I am surprised that this hasn't come up on here yet. Kosovo has declared it's freedom from Serbia. Russia has denounced the action and the US is calling for calm in the region and there are still 16,000 peacekeepers in-country. Thoughts? https://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,330951,00.html Kosovo Declares Independence From Serbia Sunday , February 17, 2008 ADVERTISEMENT PRISTINA, Serbia — Revelers fired guns into the air and fireworks lit up the skies over Kosovo on Sunday after parliament proclaimed independence, defying Serbia and Russia with a historic declaration as the world's newest nation. A decade after a bloody separatist war with Serbian forc…

Or is it just WRI that can't seem to figure out how to properly get our computers to mesh with another USAF network??? We haven't been able to get into AMCART reliably since November, and the civilian fuels dude (who AMCART was supposed to replace... yet he's still in the same job) insists we're the stupid ones, and AMCART works just fine.

WASHINGTON — U.S. fighter planes intercepted two Russian bombers flying unusually close to an American aircraft carrier in the western Pacific during the weekend, The Associated Press has learned. A U.S. military official says that one Russian Tupolev 95 buzzed the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz twice, at a low altitude of about 2,000 feet, while another bomber circled about 50 nautical miles out. The official was speaking on condition of anonymity because the reports on the flights were classified as secret. The Saturday incident, which never escalated beyond the flyover, comes amid heightened tensions between the United States and Russia over U.S. plans for a missil…

I am currently a senior cadet in AFROTC, however my girlfriend is a sophomore cadet. I have been warned time and time again by ROTC folks that as soon as I commission, I have to break it off. Personally, I think that is standard ROTC over protective parenting. My question is: Has anyone seen married officers that weren't the same rank? It is only a 2 year difference, but I don't have much knowledge of the real Air Force, so I don't know how that works. Also, if we are both going to be pilots, will the Air Force allow us to be stationed together? I have tons of questions along these lines, but if anyone has some guidance or personal experience on the issue, I woul…

I am one of the guys going to Creech because of the miserable wench that is called TAMI. Me and the other bros that are getting screwed over have talked over beers about drones and the moral questions that they bring up, the main one being "Is killing without any risk to yourself honorable?" I'm not talking about lobbing a JDAM from the bozosphere. I mean no risk at all. None. Or are drones just a part of the natural progression of warfare? i.e. fists-rocks-spears-arrows-guns-etc. I realize this is a pretty deep topic for this forum, but I'm curious what you guys think, specifically the old skulls who've been shot at and dropped in anger before. Discuss... P.S…

The rudder thread somewhat reminded me of this from another board. I read it on a car message board sparked from another message board.. Anyway, it made about 400 replies (some of which were absolutely clueless), almost all were from those without a background in aviation, but some were from engineers / physics nerds. So here's the question: I believe this was the original thread: https://community.discovery.com/groupee/for.../7451937218/p/1 This is the thread I'm referring to, but I believe you have to register to post: https://www.ls2.com/forums/showthread.php?s...ll&pagenumber=1 They're basically the same discussion though. I had a couple of questions for guys/gals at Corpus or who have been through their before. 1. How many T-44's and how many TC-12's are in the two units there? 2. Does the TC-12 have any type of glass cockpit? 3. How many T-44C's does VT-31 have at this point?

Anybody else have their Services Squadron merging with the Mission Support Squadron into "Force Support Squadron" "The new squadron will have five flights: Force Development, Manpower and Personnel, Airmen and Family Services, Sustainment Services and Community Services." Great, so now we can have the limited hours of the MSS combined with the daily e-mail spam of the Services squadron. It's the best of both worlds!

what exactly does AFPC mean when they say I cannot be released? do they mean I can never leave my current airframe, or that right now I can't leave the airframe and i should ask again later? I have another unit that i want to go to and they want me, and despite having 3.5 years time on station, AFPC won't let me go. so i don't know if i should try again, or if this is a permanent thing; anyone else face a similar situation?

A good friend of mine (seriously) recently suffered a Q3 in the heavy world. First ops assignment type, young and with an otherwise clean FEF. Sounds like a 1 item bust with a ding or two tossed in for good measure. I've been trying to give some advice and all but I really don't know what the short or long term effects are, and I imagine they are different than they would be for me in the fighter world. It sounds like it happens a little more in the heavy world than the fighter world from what I've heard from people already (not talking any sh!t, just a no kidding observation from those I've talked to). Assuming the re-check and everything is fine, what are the ramif…

I was recently looking at an article about a unit in MN flying a Homeland Defense Mission in Hawaii (Hawaii Newspaper). The picture clearly showed a F-16 pilot standing in front of what I assume was his aircraft with his name in the caption(actually they put the wrong officers name in the first time but corrected it the next day). Is this an OPSEC violation? If I was a bad guy downrange who had been on the business end of ordanance from one of these jets he (and his family) would be high on MY target list. I wouldn't think it was smart but that's just my opinion.

I’m looking for some instrument approach procedures that are difficult or challenging or unique so we can needlessly beat ourselves up. Take a look at the approach I attached, for example. The TACAN Y 13R at KNGP is much more complicated than it needs to be, just so they can use it to teach their students. Have any of you come across any interesting approaches in your career? ngp_vor_dme_y_or_tacan_y_rwy_13r.pdf

This is a question that I do not have the experience to answer and I was wondering what other people thought about it. As far as demonstrations teams go, are the Blue Angels more skilled than the Thunderbirds or the other way around? I've seen the Thunderbirds perform a couple of times and I got to say they are pretty tight
