CAF argument and its surprising that the 2 people they mention have MAF backgrounds. Both seem to have legit credibility with TPS. Just curious on the opinions of the forum.

My wife and I are finally planning our honeymoon to Europe after putting it off for over 2 years. I have heard of hopping on a C17 out of charleston but but other options are there? What are the ins and outs of it? Our leave starts 9 Aug.. is it realistic that we would be able to hop on space a that day?

Gentlemen (and ladies). 13-13 drop just came out not too long ago and we've got 2 days to turn in dream sheets. I've done about as much online research as I can (including this site), as well as spoken to quite a few C-17/KC-10 pilots in my squadron (there are no FREDs in my drop). The general consensus I'm getting is that KC-10s are, overall, the way to go regardless of what base you go to. Right now my top 4 are: 1. KC-10 : Travis 2. KC-10 : McGuire 3. C-17 : Charleston 4. When moving from Vance to Altus for C17 school, is that a tdy move? How long will we be at the schoolhouse? If it's tdy, do you get any extra $$ for the time you're there? thanks

Anyone here have the pleasure of participating? IMHO it was more of a waste of time than the last one. I know AMC has an identity crisis - I'm sure we all know that. One can only hit the "I believe" button so many times...

I will be heading off to UPT in a few months but my wife will not join me until January. I have heard that I can live in the dorms and she will get BAH. Is there any truth to that rumor? Is that usually what guys do that go through UPT without their wives? Do I have any other options? Thanks.

I'm not one of those people who are 100% sure they want to fly for the next decade. Reading on this forum motivates me to fly though... other things don't, like being a left coast tree-hugger. Regardless: what are the consequences of SIE from UPT? $? Retrain? FWIW I start in January so I have time. I signed my assignment RIP a couple months ago now. (aslo, usafa '05 so the $ part might be different). Flame me through PM's. THey'll be more fun.

Curious to hear from all the AF aviators and such around here. Do you like/love your job? I'm going to assume most of you do, because you're on an online forum in your spare time talking about it. The "why" is the most important part. Also (to the pilots) are you happy with your airframe or do you wish you had something else?

I'm doing EWO training right now and it looks like I'm headed to Omaha for the RC-135. Anyone been there or know of the place to comfort the blow?

Is the AF getting the Harvest Hawk package like the USMC for their C-130s? It would be an added plus for the airlift fleet and bring more fight to the enemy. Tac Air isn't needed as much when the largest enemy vehicle is a Toyota 4x4 in Afgan. Let the C-130s drop the Candy and see who picks it up. If it's the bad guys, fire them up. Perhaps the CoS being an old AC-130 guy will find the funding. How much would one F-35 cost anyway? Bet you can get 5 Harvest Hawk packages for the price of one F-35. Are there any AF C-130 crews that would like to pickup that additional mission? Better than flying a RPV in getting kills.

I'm an ancient one having trained in T-37's, T-38s and instructed in both. I'm just trying to learn a little about the present syllabus at UPT. Question: Do T-6 students/instructors practice SFO's or forced landings or is it taught to take the silk highway in case of engine failure.

This has been a topic of late for some of the guys in the unit. 1.)What things can you get VA disability for that don’t hurt your FAA flying or medical? 2.) how do you know what you are eligible to get? 3.) some people have said that whatever you get from VA takes away from retirement pay. However that benefits divorced guys because for example if you are getting 1000 in retirement and 300 of it is considered VA then only 700 of it is able to be considered for divorce pay? Ok guys, serious post for once (yeah, shut-up haters; you loved it the past couple of years). Tony recently published an article on his site about dealing with toxic leaders to fix the Air Force. I look around my aviation community (remaining unnamed to protect the guilty), and I just don't see it. Guess I'm either lucky, clueless, or one of the culprits (again, shut up haters.
