Does anyone know where I can find the reg that states when TDY to a location and staying less than 24 hrs, you do not require a Letter of Non-A if staying at other than gov't quarters? I am contantly battling our finance office on getting paid when RON somewhere for one night and I stay offbase with no Non-A letter. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

So the new USAF captain board just posted their results and many of us believe there were some mistakes made. There are people who were wash backs in flight school who got promoted and others who graduated in the top half of their flight school class and top of their FTU class who were nonselected. There is a certain airframe in which everyone at that schoolhouse when the packages were sent in was nonselected. My understanding is that a promotion board cannot discriminate based on the job. A promotion board has to select based on job performance while a retention board can discriminate based on the job. Maybe there was a paperwork issue out of that FTU? Has anyone had exp…

I did a search but there wasn't any new info. What is the manning situation like in the Bone now? Are Co's flying more then once or twice a month? Also are they still deploying to Guam and the Desert for 4 months? [ 02. May 2006, 05:40: Message edited by: Toro ]

Apparently some Danish F-16s recorded this damage to the Nordstream pipeline after three underwater explosions were detected: https://www.forsvaret.dk/da/nyheder/2022/gaslakage-i-ostersoen/?fbclid=IwAR3c3zuQW7yg8FfkE4sq4HMsOT1DW-CZec4zGmOTA4ba0LCa9YAlYVKQOuE

First time poster and I know it's a stupid question but had to ask. I'll explain. I'm a Navy pilot and mod over at airwarriors. Lately we've had a rash of posers pretending to be aviators. They've been exposed, much to their chagrin. To think, people pretending to be something they are not on the net . Anyway, on another forum a guy claims to be an F-16 pilot and AF lawyer, a major select at age 26. He might very well be, I don't really know but he does call it the Fighting Falcon and makes some other strange claims. Anyway, it has become an issue of discussion. So I told him I would ask about it both here and F16.net. Obviously I have way to much time on my han…

If anyone has any experience or knows of anyone with any experience in dealing with a FEB please post here or contact me. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything new on this topic? Rumor mill says that the avionics upgrade package got declined (which will lead into the KC-10 not being able to fly in Europe past 2015), so I did not know if that was the nail in the coffin, or if that was just bullshit. No offense to -135's, but the -10 is WAY better in terms of multi-role tanker / cargo jet. It'd be retarded for them to cut the -10, AND the -46 won't be able to the same amount of work as one -10 can. Thoughts / opinions / comments? Thanks

Alright guys, it's 1 week from 05-14's assignment night at CAFB and I've got a question. I'm looking at either C-17's to Charleston or C-130's to Little Rock as my number one choice but I can't get an up to date answer out of our IP's here. All of them have been out of the loop to long to really know what the current deployments are like. I've heard for the C-130's that you'll go four months to the sand and then four months home with the occasional 2-3 day trips while you're home but I've heard nothing about the C-17. Also how is the job market for spouses at both locations. Anything about either plane or location would be appreciated.

  17. Surprised this hasn't been posted yet. Axle is a great dude and this is unfortunate. https://www.airforcetimes.com/prime/2012/07/air-force-c17-pilot-charged-jump -death-071812/ A C-17 pilot is facing a court-martial after the death of a National Guard paratrooper, who was killed during a training jump last year. Capt. Jared S. Foley, of the 7th Airlift Squadron, 62nd Airlift Wing, is charged with three specifications of dereliction of duty in connection with the July 10, 2011, incident, said Maj Michael J. Meridith, a spokesman for 18th Air Force. Foley was the aircraft commander when Army Sgt. Francis Campion jumped over Marshall Field at Fort Ha…

Okay, looks like we are ready to pull the trigger if we get enough people. Cost will be 1500 for a titanium bracelet or 1300 for the kevlar bracelet. If you are interested, PM me. we are about 6 people short of getting the required 15. Tentative engraving will be wings on the back with your name/callsign, whichever you prefer. I can also provide more details for those interested.

  22. https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2012/01/air-force-suicides-rise-lead-to-standdown-013012w/ January 2012 has seen a record number of suicides across the Air Force. What does the Air Force do? Why, they schedule a 1 day stand down for additional resiliency training. How idiotic. This mindset that you can just brief away problems only causes more problems. So we have a one day standdown. During that we are reminded just how "important" we are. The Air Force can't afford to lose any one of its airmen (well, aside from the thousands they fired last year, and the additional ten thousand they are seeking to get rid of). Instead of a day off, we get another day of …

I realize I am sacrificing some anonymity here, but I feel it's worth it if it helps one person. I was the co-pilot on the C-17 4-engine flameout on 17 Sept 2010 in Pakistan. An SIB was conducted (anything privileged won't be discussed here), a CDI was ordered, and I went to an FEB. The board decided I should return to flying the C-17. AMC/CC non-concurred and disqualified me from aviation service. I then got a referral OPR D2 that decision, which limited the AFSCs I could crosstrain to (Acft mx). I applied for to get my SUPT ADSC waived...it was approved, and yesterday was my last day on active duty. I am disgusted by the way AMC shared any lessons learned from o…

I know that a PPL is not necessary, but most people say that it is very beneficial to increasing your chances of getting a pilot's slot in the Air Force. I am thinking about taking the Air Force ROTC route and attempting to get a slot that way. Has anybody else here got their PPL before trying to get a pilot's slot? If so, how much did it help you? Is a PPL enough, or should a person also get an Instrument rating (which usually takes longer than getting a PPL and is very expensive)? I have talked to many people involved in Air Force ROTC and they say that the major you take is not a force at all, just as long as you get a bachelors and a good grade. Considering thi…
