Squadron Bar
Off-topic discussion. Keep it civil, don't abuse this forum.
1 – Keep it civil
If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed. If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.
2 - Listen before you speak
A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."
Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force. Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.
3 – UTFSF
Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.
4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.
After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"
5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense
This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".
6 – No unpaid advertisements
Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed. Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum. For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

New thread for Iranian happenings. Just tasked with planning the squadron holiday party (standard). So this party doesn't suck, I'm looking for any ideas or suggestions that would make this shindig an enjoyable experience.

Because... airplanes. Saw this concept... ...and wondered with the advantages of V-tails for speed/drag, why not in airliners (yet)?

The dude is 7-1 since taking over and all but one of those wins have been in dramatic fashion. No doubt the Denver defense is playing great and their special teams play has been lights out, but what is your opinion on Tebow?

https://www.businessinsider.com/cbs-explains-nfl-ratings-2016-10 Wow... such a surprise. Maybe people are beginning to have enough of the NFL, and their uneducated, prima donna asshats. Including Goodell.

THIS THREAD HAS BEEN MOVED FROM THE IT'S STAYING INTACT SO THERE WILL ALWAYS BE PROOF THAT CCP/PYB IS A SOCIOPATH AND REMOVING HIM FROM THE FORUMS - WHILE THE WORK OF ONE MODERATOR - WAS AN ACTION SUPPORTED BY A MAJORITY OF THE FORUM MEMBERS. - TORO When this story first broke, I thought it was likely nonsense that the verdict of the high ranking jury was reversed by a general. Just from knowing the moral character of most of the bros, and especially those who make rank, I figured the guy probably did it. Of course I don't know, nor was I on the jury so that doesn't really matter. But after hearing a rumor of this guy looking over a stall to see some chick pi…

Story here. To me this reads like politicians trying to intimidate the appellate process... I remember reading about this case in the Stars and Stripes when the trial was happening and thinking the evidence sounded weak. I have a hard time imagining in the current environment that the NAF would overturn the conviction without good reason.

I am sitting in Atlanta-Hartsfield during a six-hour layover, and I am amazed at all the Army bubbas running around here in their ACUs. There has to be at least a dozen of them in the food court where I am sitting. I know the USAF policy was blues-only if flying commercially, with exceptions of course. But if I had to guess I would say the Army seems to be encouraging its troops to travel on commercial air in ACUs. Is this the result of yet another clever Army recruiting campaign? Or is the Army so anal that it doesn’t allow its troops one set of civilian clothes to wear while traveling on commercial flights? To be honest, it reeks of that beer commercial a whil…

This morning, I was reading an interesting Kellogg study on military service and its influence on CEOs (https://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/faculty/benmelech/html/BenmelechPapers/MilitaryCEOs.pdf). As I start planning for my enroute descent to retirement (it's inevitable at some point), I'm wondering what experiences and advice the grey beards have for the transition. The airlines thread is awesome, but that's not the life for everyone. What other options are out there for a pilot with some staff stink, a TS, and an online MBA?

I got this ink right after I got back from FIELD TRAINING to symbolize that, as a POC, I'm now part of the WORLD'S GREATEST AIR FORCE. The POWERFUL Asian owl symbolizes the AIRPOWER that my service can unleash upon our enemies, all across the world, the AIR FORCE symbol is self explanatory and CHARLIE - MIKE symbolizes CONTINUE MISSION, because that's what I'm going to do from the cockpit of my F-22, regardless of any obstacle that I may run into. A few individuals have construed that "Charlie - Mike" is an allusion to the two male models who showed me a great night in South Beach last Spring Break. They just don't understand AIR FORCE vocabulary, though, and I'm sure…

As a female , I take exception to the sexually suggestive mini-movies that some member users are using on this forum- especially the "boob" ones! Why are these allowed?; I bet if I had a guy doing similar things with his private area on mine, it would be taken off...? Sure, some will say, if you don't like it don't participate in this forum. It's not just for horny guys is it???

Split from the thread. Yeager spoke last night at the theater in the woods. Apparently he's not afraid to speak his mind in front of a crowd. Don't know if he's got the scoop on what happened, but he bashed the viper driver in front of the crowd. Basically said he has no respect for a Guy who lacks basic airmanship. I thought was pretty bold. But then again, I have no idea what happened.

I felt a thread all about beer would compliment the gun thread. The premise is simple: drink a beer and rate it based on your own criteria. Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier Rating: 6.9 Reason: It was very easy to drink. Smooth, delicious, and pairs well with a variety of food. It starts with a lot of head and it takes awhile to go down (so to speak) . It kind of had an after taste akin to apple sauce and was a little too light for my palette. I recommend it to any fan of IPAs.

In the May/June issue of Airman magazine (pg 13), Capt Malinda Hammond, a Reservist with the 136 AW currently assigned to the 455 AEW, is pictured in a sanitized flightsuit with only a US flag and small 'FUBAR' morale patch on! (this is the scanned pic from the magazine) Now the question is, did she know she had it on or was she the victim of some shenanigans? By the way, in the online version of that pic, the morale patch was Photoshopped out! Also, it really shows the professionalism of the USAF/PA in that the "current" issue of Airman on their official web site is from March/April, and it is mid-July! And before anyone screams about my publishi…
