  1. Can you imagine if an active duty member was not at work, in the hospital for a few days and didn't notify their supervisor/commander. Yet another double standard by Fat Albert...he was the WRONG choice for so many reasons. Biden and the elitist Dems don't care, maintain power at all costs.

  2. Best upgrade for an M9: Sell it, buy a Springfield, and take your wife on a fancy hotel date with the extra money.

  3. To be fair, I don't think Biden knows where he's at the vast majority of the time! On the other hand, it shows how (un)important Austin is in the current administration!

  4. Golf courses should have been closed long before they waged a jihad on the aero clubs.

  6. I think it was the 2018 NDAA that forced those sorts of activities to become self-funded/sustainable versus being subsidized by NAF. Shortly thereafter, several smaller bases closed their lodging because they couldn’t afford to keep them open. I don’t know what all activities were covered by that NDAA but I believe golf courses was one of them. Now, underutilized activities on base are closing. It’s also why some Wg/CCs have tried to mandate TDY travelers stay in base lodging. I understand the reasoning but that’s in violation of the JTR and the mandate usually goes away quietly. It’s the ultimate catch-22. Lodging jacked up prices to offset expenses but now the normal traveler that would go on base to save money (retiree, PCS folks, etc) go off base for the same cost and better facilities. The on base activities can’t fund themselves and usually can’t get funding to upgrade to match off base activities. Not sure why Congress felt it was a good idea but it really screwed a lot of smaller bases and their ability to have services and infrastructure available all the time.

  7. Makes you wonder about the competence of a person that can be missing without informing his boss and nobody seems to care.

  8. Sounds like the trend of Air Force golf courses closing has been going on for the past couple years. Relevant Reddit thread here. I know golf in general as a sport has declined in a lot of places around the country, due to the usual suspects (lack of free time, shrinking middle class, changes in people's interests, etc). The fact that the AF golf courses have to be self-funded just make it that much more difficult. Interesting to see "inclusivity and diversity" weaved into the official press release. It seems like people in command get extra points anytime they can invoke the holy trinity of DEI. Perhaps this is just the Barksdale Wing CC being savvy and tacking on "inclusivity and diversity" to anything and everything. Need to repave the main road? It's going to be the most inclusive and diverse pavement we can get, utilizing asphalt from underprivileged areas. Need to replace a snowplow? We're going to ensure the new plow implements the highest standards of equity, and drive it around in the summer and winter.

  9. How about the fact there are active hostilities going on involving our deployed troops as well as the Russo-Ukrainian war and yet the SECDEF can go a week without talking to the boss. Guess we know which cabinet members don’t mean that much. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  10. Pretty sure it was the return of that Shazam Martian. Weird, non-sensical self-aggrandizing posts followed by family insults when people called him on his bullshit. Looks like the mods already cleaned it up.

  11. Not DEI. Just spin after the fact of it closing. Base golf courses are beyond dead when they made the funding changes a few years ago.

  14. I didn't see a spot on the AF215 that declared gender or race. Not that they couldn't get that from their sources, and while I understand the "diversity" argument, I truly hope they aren't reverting to choosing a member over someone else to satisfy the "diversity" conversation instead of the "merit" conversation. 15. I'm sure I will regret weighing in on this, but do you seriously believe this? Like actually think people "punish women for existing" and hate them? Based on the stance on abortion, they hate women?

  18. Downvote all you want. The timing stinks to high heaven of political opportunism. If this dude cared so much about abortion policy he'd resign over it, he 100% knew about the policy when it was enacted. Assumes command anyway, only to resign months later, waiting just long enough for the election year to roll around, with the governors PR team in tow.

  19. Good riddance. If you're going to make your airmens' travel for abortion/reproductive medical care the hill you die on, your priorities are clearly f-ed up. There is a time and place for the abortion debate and it is not denying your airmen the care they are entitled to by federal policy. The dude assumes command in June 2023.. 4 months AFTER the policy was already in effect.. then resigns over that same policy 6 months later. I'd bet my house this is a political move to gain local/state recognition as the guy who fought the libs. Hell, he's already got huckabee-sanders out there grandstanding for him. O-6 wing kings in the guard don't have much road left ahead of them, so a career pivot to politics makes perfect sense.

  20. I’ve always hated the weaponized Q3 thing but the one I really don’t get is the Q3/Q1 or whatever it’s called. I’d never heard of it until I went to AIS and a bunch of AMC guys had horror stories of busting a level off by 100’ and immediately correcting or other minor things and getting Q-3 then immediately Q1 with no further action. Total lunacy.

  21. Quick thread off-ramp: SAC gave us a patch to wear on our jackets. When the staffing was done, it was given to Gen Chain for final approval. He ticked a checkmark on the drawing to signify he approved it. His staff saw the check and figured it was something he wanted added... and so they did. He had a reputation for being pretty gruff and supposedly none of his staff wanted to ask him about it.

  22. Glad to know you’ve got such a good grasp on ground truth. I make no claims on understanding the root cause of the invasion…and there likely isn’t one such singularly cause. NATO expansion, demographics, a weak US president, rising US isolationism, EUROPEAN UNION SPINELESSNESS, good timing with Ukraine internal politics, Putin being megalomaniac, Russians being Russians? All of the above? But sure, go ahead and believe you’ve got it sorted. When you make claims like that, does it strike you at all as melodramatically black or white? Or do you genuinely believe it was solely ‘NATO expansion’? If so, why? *Side bar: NATO didn’t go out looking for new members. New members saw Russian aggression starting in Georgia during the GW era and started asking for membership. I know this because I worked in NATO, and membership was a hot topic. “NATO Expansion” is a known misnomer propagated by Russian media and intelligence agencies. Call it whatever, NATO expanded due to Russia invading its neighbors over the past 30 years.

  23. The P1 will be yet another range toy. The only time I have a manual safety on a carry pistol is when I'm in true Texan mode and wearing a M1911! As for the M9, in my opinion it's a brick of a handgun with poor ergonomics, which is why I hesitate buying a P1! You can really see the similarities in the stills from this video comparing the the Beretta with a P38...
