One that doesn't require you to wear a face mask to protect you from the virus that you just got 3 inoculations against? I mean, really think about that. They're telling people with 3 shots over 7 months to wear a mask and social distance. That's insane. They're saying the vaccines are great and provide amazing protection, but also that vaccinated people have to keep following the emergency public health protocols that were being stressed before a vaccine was avaliable. How could a reasonable person not see the disconnect there? I know we've become inured and desensitized to mask wearing, but imagine telling your 2019 self that there's a pandemic on the way, and you'll soon be told to take 3 vaccinations and still mandated to wear a face mask. Hearing that, your 2019 self would assume that the vaccination had extremely low efficacy and/or the pathogen must be like the ones portrayed in the movies Outbreak or Contagion, where the premise was that exposure to the virus was a death sentence (involving pustulating sores, convulsions, foaming at the mouth, and death within 48 hours). But neither of those is true of Covid. The vaccines are highly efficacious and Covid is highly survivable. Any reasonably intelligent person in 2019, shown the data we have now, and told about that messaging disconnect, would be thoroughly confused about the ongoing farce. As others have said, get as many shots as you want. Tripple mask, ...and don't forget the face shield. Celebrate the holidays with family via Zoom chat. Go nuts. After all, the hardest part of 14 days to flatten the curve is the first 2 years. My family and I will pass, thanks.

My understanding is that Federal courts don't allow cameras, while some State courts do. Hence, we got cameras in the Wisconsin court that Rittenhouse was tried in, but not the Federal court that Maxwell is being tried in.

You seem to be incapable of fathoming a simple fact for many who are hesitant to get the Kung flu prophylaxis. I will spell it out for you: The vaccine, for a virus that isn't species-threatening, is inefficient at best. It hasn't been tested rigourisly (sp?) and the data can only capture in the short-term at present. It is a literal unknown of any long-term effects these shots will have. The variety of, and number of, side-effects are larger than they should be for a well-tested and deployed vaccine. For me, having had Covid, the natural anti-bodies produced suffice for my risk mitigation assessment. You may not like my decision, but that's on you. I'm not against you getting as many 'vaccines' and boosters as you desire. Same thing for any children you may have. You knock yourself out. Leave me the fcuk alone. I am quite capable of making my own decisions. And Trump didn't institute mandates that have cost people their jobs. Imagine the sturm and drang if he had've. But dementia Joe, with his "I've got a plan to stop the virus," can't seem to do much at all. Even his kindly, knows what's best for me get a inefficient vaccine is getting slammed in multiple levels of courts and states that aren't cowering seem to be doing pretty well. Color me shocked. As for a military order, it is supposed to be lawful. Takes a lot of courage to fight an order that one considers unlawful so most don't - lack of financial resources to survive, to fight, etc. But some do. If they lose, those folks will face administrative and judicial punishment. Again, takes a lot of guts to push back. They should've never been put in that position. The pool of eligibles isn't that big. Despite the diversity push, this order probably discourages a not insignificant number of people to not raise their right hand. It will be interesting to see how many currently serving, but refusing this order, are actually punished/discharged.

The ATF is finally going to eForms supposedly by the end of the month. This means far easier filing and should result in much shorter wait times. If you’re thinking about buying an NFA item, Jan should be a good month to do it!

We should stay in NATO, let’s just not confuse it with some awesome military alliance. It’s a bureaucratic means to influence where 90% of the combat capability is provided by one member.

Getting into the landing configuration is typically a bit of a disturbance for the students as the aerodynamics change and they get back to position and then, the airplane does behave more mushy once configured for landing. Throw in a big power change for something like a go-around, and sometimes there are deviations. What makes it potentially more dangerous in the T-38 is that in addition to the ground proximity you mentioned the rudder gives you full authority in landing configuration, and that can go south very quickly. One or two considerations.

You can make that case for every flu shot every year since it’s always new. If everyone had been up on arms about having to take an unproven vaccine every year since they joined the military for a low success vaccine against a disease that doesn’t kill lots of people of military age this would all make more sense to me. And this is because republicans are for pro liberty and individual rights like allowing families to personally make the call on abortion?To be clear, I’m against mandates and abortion personally I just understand how politics help form our opinions and make us all slight hypocrites, good or bad. I’m for your choice to do what you want. It just seems like some people, not everyone, are only against the vaccine to prove they can be. I got the vaccine not for me but because I hoped to limit the spread so I didn’t accidentally kill someone’s grandma. Part of this is from knowing a few people, some our age that weren’t fat, that died of COVID. Finally, I don’t think there is anything illegal about the military making you get a vaccine. Tons of precedent for it. Even if the virus doesn’t kill you, keeping whole units from going down at the same time from an illness I think is a reasonable argument for readiness whether you agree or not, IE the flu shot. Yep. The legal filings are totally in good faith, and not a litigious stall tactic that skirts the actual issue. And since they imply that even the plaintiffs agree the order is lawful in principle, as long as Comirnaty labeled doses are offered, I would pay large money to see the government show up to court with nurses ready to administer shots to the plaintiffs out of vials with that divine piece of paper stuck to them that makes all the difference. It'd be a sight to see that courtroom clear as if somebody fumbled a live grenade onto the floor. Mere seconds before nothing but the dignity of the plaintiffs was left behind. Outside of stating that I oppose public mandates, I've made no mention of the vaccine. This has nothing to do with a vaccine and everything to do with a group of people that has made clear they only follow orders when it serves them personally. That's a cancerous thing in military command structure, and if they don't have the integrity to self-eliminate from the service, then they should be forcibly removed. In todays climate that’s the key point. Look at what China is trying to (and somewhat accomplishing) in Africa. If the US was to exit NATO you can guarantee that the Chinese would be all over it trying to push their influence.

I don't have much faith that DoD will follow through without exception after injunctions are lifted and religious exemption requests are denied, but hopefully they do, and the U.S. military will be stronger for having purged those that self-identified as having joined under false pretense and having served their entire career only where doing so aligned with their own selfish desires. Then a decade from now we'll have to endure a few Timothy McVeigh Jr.'s, and after they've offed themselves over delusions of grandeur we can all get on with life.

I wouldn't expect you to have questions. I made it clear which group I belonged to in the first word of my first post. Is this Bizarro World? A lot of people disagree? Do any of them have CSAF appended to their name? I wasn't aware that mliitary command structure had shifted to anarchism where everybody just issues their own personal orders based on what they think is prudent. A person with the authority to determine military necessity has made that call. Opinions on the validity of that determination from subordinates are meaningless. I am not, and would not, call anyone a snowflake over a difference of opinion. Feel free to think whatever you'd like about the order. I actually hold a person in higher regard who disagrees with an order and carries it out faithfully in service to their duty anyway. It's when someone disobeys an order based on selfish motives because they think they're entitled to not experience psycological discomfort that they become a snowflake. I assume that you've told all the E-3s under your command that since you don't understand the nuance of their perspective on showing up to work on a daily basis, that if they personally disagree with the expectation of a 5 day work week, they can just work a few hours here or there as they see fit?

I think you really only need to look at the USS Theodore Roosevelt to invalidate almost all of these arguments. They can just apply the lessons learned from that experience to basically any potential combat scenario and, bam, everyone in the military must be vaccinated. In this case, does nuance of one's opinion really matter?

The mil members in your example are concerned about their personal health and not trying to tell anyone else how to conduct their personal health decisions/force an opinion on others. The other side of the argument are trying to force their will on others. Different situations/approaches and not comparable…one side is filled with moral high ground pricks and the other just wants liberty for everyone.

Honorable = Normal General Under Honorable Conditions = You had honorable service, but you fucked up in a severe way (e.g., guilty at a courts martial with no punitive discharge given). Other Than Honorable Discharge = Normally only given at a administrative discharge board where discharge is given, which for officers is known as a Board of Inquiry. Dismissal (officer version of a dishonorable) = Only given at a General Court Martial Note: Officers don’t receive Bad Conduct Discharges. For VA benefit purposes, the entire period of service is determined by the VA. For example, I got court martialed in 2017. My enlistment during that court martial started in 2013. I joined in 2001 and had multiple enlistments before then of “honorable” service before 2013. The VA gave me all benefits because of my multiple honorable enlistments due to my General Under Honorable discharge. I don’t know how they would do that with officers with periods of ADSCs? The only show stopper with VA benefits is getting a dismissal, which would prevent you from getting any VA benefits. The VA does their own determination of character of service if you were to get a General Under Honorable or in some extreme cases, an Other Than Honorable discharge. Two boom operator Chief friends of mine are retiring in the next few months and they got Art 15s as TSgts. My brother has one as well and he made TSgt pretty early. As an officer if they don’t kick you out after one, you’re probably not going to go anywhere, career wise, and they’re just waiting for you to separate on your own.

Remember when you are talking about NATO military actions, you are really referring to US military actions. NATO is a joke. I spent ~5 years seeing that anything not US led in NATO was essentially a worthless only-for-show effort. Hell, usually NATO actually gets in the way of decent COAs

Before I give COAs (and not sure there are any good ones at this point), I have to wax philosophic for a moment. One of our biggest faults as Americans and with our foreign policy is our attention span. Unlike our adversaries we suffer from ADHD and Alzheimer’s, we quickly lose focus and absolutely refuse to play long ball. We have the world's most powerful and capable military but we want quick victories with few casualties so we can get home as and back to Facebook/Twitter. We constantly change our goals, shift our expectations and completely revamp our strategy as often as we change a roll of toilet paper. Our adversaries may adjust their approach for the current environment but ultimately, they play chess while we play checkers. China wants Taiwan and has been steadily marching towards that goal since they lost it shortly after WW II. Scholars have openly noted they were employing a 100-year strategy towards reunification. Our tragic flaw has manifest in every conflict since WW II. How many times did we change our Afghanistan strategy (if we ever had one), finally signally to the Taliban (and every other threat), if you wait, we will tire and go home. I think my theory is easily proven when looking at the situation with Ukraine. When the former Soviet Union collapsed and the wall fell, we went to great lengths to sway Ukraine in hopes they would lean to the west. At the time they had a significant stockpile of nuclear weapons which WE convinced them to destroy in return for a paper promise that we would provide security. While we did not offer full-fledged NATO membership, we certainly led them to believe we would be there when they needed us. Flash forward to 2014 when Russia invaded the Crimea and what did we do? Barack Obama suggested that defending Ukraine against Russia wasn’t a core U.S. national-security concern…sorry you gave up your nukes, you are on your own. Obama and his minions finally provided aid, but it was all humanitarian. In total since 2014 we have provided $1.6B in aide but we have mostly stood by and watched them struggle. That strategy came to full fruition in 2017 when Ukraine was forces to sign the annexation of the Crimea to Russia. The Trump administration did change the game in some regards when they agreed to give Ukraine lethal “defensive aide.” Philosophically I wonder, would Ukraine still have the Crimea if Ukraine still had their nukes? Putin immediately tested Biden when he took office, the buildup of troops and equipment along the border has taken time. The fiasco in Afghanistan sent a very clear commitment about our resolve. If Putin does move against Ukraine, you can bet your paycheck that will signal China to speed the clock against Taiwan. As far as COAs, there are only a few and the only palatable one I can see would be to act now at N minus to bolster Ukraine and deter Putin. It is one thing to give Ukraine more lethal aide, it is another to place U.S. forces in Ukraine. Perhaps a game of chicken but it would drastically complicate Putin’s calculus. Barring that COA we will likely melt like butter and Russia will steamroll Ukraine.

So basically, you think you know what is best for my kids and anything that doesn't agree with your opinion is "poor risk decisions". No wonder this country is on the path it is on.

Wow. I'm hesitant to believe the 'posed for a picture, thus good friends' argument, just consider how many people a politician is photographed with on a daily basis. But at his daughter's wedding is clearly an entirely different level.

But, they were good friends. He called him a “terrific guy” and talked about his love of “young women” while partying with him and taking rides on his plane. And Clinton was a good friend. And Bill Gates. And Stephen Hawking. And Prince Andrew. And… Instead of trying to turn this into a partisan issue, maybe we should keep focusing in on how a lot of wealthy people, whatever their political affiliation, seemed to spend a lot of time with a guy who preyed on and abused underage girls? All while having a couple decades of allegations, investigations, and convictions, yet seemingly minimal repercussions. The fact people like this existed out there for years and got away with all they did due to money/privilege/connections makes me seethe with anger at the injustice. I hope she burns for her (alleged…for now) role in this mess and I hope even more that she spills the beans on the high profile people that were a part of it and enabled it, regardless of their political party. I was just browsing the 2022 tax brackets and found it terrible that in the 35% and 37% bracket married couples are taxed far more harshly than those who are single. Bracket / Single / Married Filing Jointly 35% $215,950 to $539,900 $431,900 to $647,850 37% $539,900 or more $647,850 or more So two people who live together and share a life together, but are not married can make $1,079,7999 together and not enter the 37% tax bracket. Yet at $647,850 a married couple enters the 37% tax bracket? Is that correct? What does that say about this administration and the democratic party? Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Taking Hamburger Hill was a threat to personal health. Landing at Normandy was a threat to personal health. Helicopter infil onto Takur Ghar to recover Neil Roberts was a threat to personal health. Stepping outside the wire for a routine low-risk patrol is a threat to personal health. Spending countless hours breathing aircraft exhaust, exposed to loud noises and high speed heavy machinery that could end you at any moment, is a threat to personal health. You mean to tell me every individual military member is empowered to refuse to do all of those things (and literally every other fucking thing the military does) because they might get hurt? Shit, I must have missed that memo. The foundation of military service is literally a concept of sacrificing personal well-being for a collective good. As I said...snowflakes.
