I just got Mountain Home as my casual base and I was hoping people who are or were stationed there could tell me what its like, if they enjoy(ed) it, if the O-club is fun and all that. Also If anyone knows the rules for grabbing a backseat ride in a 15, please post! I dont know any of the requried medical, safety, whatever rules!

Fellow pilots, Cranium's up & FYI: New charting specification should appear in the NTAP soon: Here's a sneak peak (attachment). Also, "Taxi into Position and Hold" is going away, to be replaced by "Line up and Wait" even here in the CONUS. Link below to new rules on use of LUAW. FAA Notice Fly safe! Multicam is obviously worn by the Army and those going outside the wire downrange. In AFSOC, though we go outside the wire and have purchased a ton of the 2 piece multicam flightsuits, we are not allowed to give them out yet. This is mainly because we do have written guidance on proper wear. I am trying to run down who has the authority to ram this thru, and who is the person I should speak to about writing a reg that lets us wrap this up.

Good day all, Hope the experts on here can chime in. AFI 36-2501 has me all spun around. I know its a long post, but thanks in advance for those that take the time to read! My updated info: 1) ADSC 1: 30 Apr 2023 (Bonus) 2) ADSC 2: 31 Jul 2022 (PCS) 3) TAFMS: May 2000 (21+ years) I meet my 2nd look for O-5 in March 2022 (LAF-A). Following standard timeline, I should expect the results roughly 1 Jul 2022. Im looking at multiple options and cant get any answers from MPF, and trying to decide if I should write a letter to the board to not consider. If for some miracle I was promoted, I wouldn’t pin on til after im on terminal o…

Not being an A$$, but what is with the fighter guys looking like child molesters when they get deployed? Just curious with the background of growing a mustache and looking like you want to touch little kids. I am joking about most of this but curious on the history and it would be a little strange to actually ask someone why they look like that. [ 22. May 2006, 04:04: Message edited by: RedDog ]

Not much has been said on the matter outside the local Las Vegas news. Sounds like everyone got out just fine though the rumor mill has it the aircraft is VERY badly damaged ("burnt to the ground" was the exact phrasing). Just hope that everyone is indeed alright. https://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/aug/27/nv-marine-osprey-crash/

Anybody think its a ironic that the day the gov shuts down is the same day that our W-2's are available and myPay is currently unavailable? Or did we just simply overload the system with us all trying to get our W-2's so we can get our money back?

Hey, just found out I'm going to Whiting, anyone have any good links for gouge, local housing, general hookups? I have horrible study habits, so that place is going to be the death of me.

Just wondering if any AF guys on the board went through primary at Whiting w/ the Navy. One of my buds back from ROTC just got his orders today that he's going to start pilot training there. He was curious as to how easily you adapt to the AF way during phase 3, and how the track select works and what planes usually come out of a Whiting drop (specifically how many T-1s and -38s). Thanks for your help.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/07/05/nasa-chief-frontier-better-relations-muslims/ NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in a recent interview that his "foremost" mission as the head of America's space exploration agency is to improve relations with the Muslim world. Though international diplomacy would seem well outside NASA's orbit, Bolden said in an interview with Al Jazeera that strengthening those ties was among the top tasks President Obama assigned him. He said better interaction with the Muslim world would ultimately advance space travel. "When I became the NASA administrator -- or before I became the NASA administrator -- he charged me with thr…

Unfortunately, that wraps up the SOFIA Program. Two of my friends flew it. There are only 2 or 3 other 747SP aircraft still flying. https://simpleflying.com/nasa-sofia-boeing-747-final-flight/

Just watched the Shuttle Shuttle (NASA911) take off from KSKF on its way to KCBM. This is the first time I've seen it, quite impressive. Here's a pic (not mine) of its approach earlier this morning... And more pics from its blog... It was in El Paso earlier today... Cheers! M2

I saw Hueypilot's post about this in the MC-12 thread, but in the interest of separating the two incidents I'm starting a new thread. Crash: National Air Cargo B744 at Bagram on April 29, 2013, aircraft lost height shortly after takeoff... Godspeed brothers.

https://www.defenseone.com/business/2020/07/us-may-need-nationalize-military-aircraft-industry-usaf-says/166894/ Interesting proposal, or more so, the problem set. The F-15EX was highly argued for on grounds to keep Boeing in the fighter game but what happens if they drop out an LM becomes the only supplier?
