  1. I guess the Army was feeling left out on all the publicity the AF has been getting... This will only make the media frenzy 10x worse. http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/14/us/army-sexual-assault-investigation/index.html
  2. You joke about the beach part. But in all seriousiness I can see big blue issuing a ridiculous order that individuals can't travel to area's where sexuality might be exposed heavily (i,e. a party beach area, mardi gras, etc) in fear it might negatively influence individuals to commit a sexual assualt.
  3. Didn't see this topic started anywhere else, if so I apologize. Looks like their getting rid of the Captains board, first intelligent thing ive seen done in a while. http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123347382
  4. I've known of several dudes to 'intentional' wash out to avoid declaring SIE on the paperwork.
  5. It also depends on what board you are meeting. Typically there are only 4 reclass boards a year, one every quarter. If you are hitting it at the end of the fiscal year and there are fewer AFSC's to fill (which is typically the case) and a bunch of dudes trying to reclass then it is bad timing and luck and there will be a substantially larger group getting the cut. I remember a board in 2011 that was at the end of the fiscal year and a lot of guys did not get reclassed even though they had legitment reasons for washing out.
  6. Damn shame. Thats a terrible area at night. Between having to worry about all the deer on the right side of the road you have to worry about shitheads like this trucker too.
  7. Couple of things to keep in mind. 1. AFROTC is the "easiest" way to get a pilot slot short of the academy. 2. Most people who actually do get aviation slots in the Navy, a large majority will end up in helicopters. 3. More importantly, you need to realize no matter which way you go you are not eliminating the "risk", either way you will be committed before you even know if you'll be flying an aircraft or doing intel or whatever career field you end up in. 4. If you have your heart set on one particular airframe or destination, spare yourself, a lot of that can come down to timing etc and is out of your control. Its good your trying to get advice/info, but honestly, you seem pretty naive in your comments and perception on how the military actually works. Back to what this board was intended for: Its because we have the best bands .
  8. Dude, isn't it clear why? Its because of our wicked sense of humor. Maybe you should stick with the Navy route, eh, on second thought, maybe you should just avoid both all together.
  9. You all are missing the point. At the crust of the matter is the classic american dream argument. There's not a "proper" cut off rank where an individual should pay for his own lawn care, it comes down to this: You bust your ass in your early years (whether it be in the military or private sector) so that you can hopefully get to a high enough pay level where you can make the individual choice on whether to pay the yard boy to rake your lawn or keep doing it yourself on a Sunday morning. What pisses people off is that their hard work and tax money is going to pay for some other persons (who happens to have a more elite status) non-work neccessities. Take this into the broader concept and people are not all enviness (some are though) their just pissed off at the elite when they see billions of dollars going to bail outs, shaddy government contracts, and programs (f-35) who constantly fail to perform or look out for the little guy. All the while elites suffer no consequences and live like kings.
  10. I have to respectfully disagree, while even though he isn't going to be reinstated he still has to go through the CR process. Its the same as if you wash out for failing to adapt for air sickness. The whole point of the CR process is to generate a re-class package to go before the board with your commanders inputs. I could be wrong, and the process could have changed since the last time I had to process a few of these. But this is generally how I know it to be.
  11. Couple of pieces of advice on how the process will work. 1) Your CR process will require multiple interviews with various levels of leadership, if you are in UPT this will conclude with an interview with the Wing CC. 2) You will have an opportunity to write a one page memo stating what happened, what you would like to do, and why the AF should keep you. This along with your commanders CR conclusion are what matter most. 3) Your pick of possible AFSC changes depends on what reclassification board you hit. Generally speaking there are 4-5 boards a year. If the board is late in the fiscal year your options of potential AFSC's will be extremely limited, if its at the beginning you will have the most options. That aspect just comes down to timing and luck. They will provide you a list with AFSC's available and how many slots their looking to fill with each particular one. You will fill out your top 5. Note: applying for certain AFSC's depends on your college degree. Intel is open to everyone. 4) Look out after yourself, follow-up on shit and be persistant, know the deadlines for EVERYTHING. I've seen a few guys have their re-class packages completely lost among other adminstration mistakes that can put them in limbo for a very long time (over a year in a couple of cases ive seen). Hope this helped.
  12. You are focusing to much concern on obtaining a LOR. I'm not sure how far you are in the commanders review process but your commanders review letter that goes before the board with have the greatest weight to it. He or she will end it with a recommendation to either reclass or not reclass. I have yet to see a person who had to be dropped out of UPT for legitimate medical reasons, who wanted to stay in, and wasn't a complete screw up not be re-classed.
  13. 3 main points. 1. Don't feed the troll. 2. sweet I'm SOF: Lets assume you are actually are in some command position. If this is true I have 3 things to say; 1) Thank god im not in your unit and I feel sorry for the people in your command. 2) If you spent a little less time on a pointless internet forum and more time focused on your people or "doing the mission" you keep saying then maybe the AF would be a slightly better organization; but given your communication skills and rationale I seriously doubt it. 3) Just because a dude is retired doesn't mean he doesn't have a wealth of knowledge to share. 3. I just fed the troll. ######.
