  2. https://video.msnbc.msn.com/nightly-news/50749586/ $1 billion wasted on Air Force computer system The Expeditionary Combat Support System, designed to save money by combining hundreds of existing computer systems, has been deemed a failure. Sen. John McCain described it as ‘one of the most egregious examples of mismanagement in recent memory.’ NBC’s Lisa Myers reports.

  8. Serious question. How do you pilots deal with serious problems at home while deployed or on duty (for lack of a better term). Serious problems such as terminally sick relatives or perhaps idiot family members who are always in trouble or perhaps financial trouble or other relatives who are going through hard times? Does it add to the stress? How do you deal with it exactly? I guess I'm one of those guys who likes to be in control and I get frustrated when bad things happen that I have absolutely no control over. I kind of wonder how an Air Force pilot would deal with this.

  9. 100 T-45 IPs are apparently refusing to fly because of fears over the safety of the jet's OBOGS. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/04/04/navy-instructor-pilots-refusing-to-fly-over-safety-concerns-pences-son-affected.html I am curious to know, is there something about the effects of this OBOGS issue that somehow makes it different to the Raptor's OBOGS issue? While I appreciate that one is a training asset, the other a front-line operational asset, it just strikes me that response from the two communities is startlingly different. In one case, an entire community refuses to fly, prompting a 3-star Admiral to publicly state that there is no policy of 'F…

  12. Good Morning, I have been lurking here for a while. I am your typical stars in your eyes pilot select getting ready for OTS. Looking forward to flying. I am an accountant and have been in the professional world about 6 years, and no work is a 4 letter word just like Sh**. I read through the discussions here and read about some of the things you guys are going through. As someone who has a pie in the sky view of what flying would be it is a dose of reality about the lifestyle and that is healthy. Would you recommend for others to join the AF and fly? Would you do it all over again? What are some of the pitfalls that I will face as a young officer and how would you nav…

  13. I remember hearing that if you get stationed at Mildenhall or Lakenheath you have to put your pets in quarantine for X number of days/weeks. Is this still in effect? What's the story on this? I'm hoping to get stationed at Mildenhall, so I'm curious as to how this works (I've got 2 dogs). [ 09. April 2004, 18:39: Message edited by: backseatdriver ]

Went to the altitude chamber today at Fairchild, and when I had the mask on (12/P), after about 5 minutes, the mask really started putting some hurt on the bridge of the ol' schnoz. Is this normal? If so, does it go away, or do you just learn to deal with it? I had a good seal, but I'm thinking, and hoping, that it might have been too small. Any thoughts?

If any othe Lt's are goin let me know and if we can live off base, we can get rooms near serority row

Ok.. I know that I should know this one, but my memory has slipped me and I can't track down the answer anywhere. How is the elevation derived for the min altitudes in each sector on the TPC chart? I know that an actual chart has this posted in the legend, but seeing as how we rely totaly on CFPS I have no actual charts. Any help would be great!

I know that getting selected to Phase I is tough and Phase II is even harder to pass. But does anyone have any more info on these guys? I'v been to specialtactics.com. How often are they getting deployed? Are the Combat Controllers deployed with the Army and Navy? Thanks for the help. [ 22. June 2006, 17:34: Message edited by: ralph ]
