This message just got sent out from the shirt and I'm curious from the enlisted perspective if this is really going to change that much? In 14 years I've only known one person to get affected by HYT and she dug her own grave when she lost a stripe and busted to SrA at 11 years which instantly put her over HYT. With the new policies are these the people we should be getting rid of anyways? Are your Airmen ready for HYT changes? Posted 8/21/2012 Updated 8/21/2012 Commentary by Dr. Todd Fore Executive Director, Air Force Personnel Center 8/21/2012 - JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas -- Most Airmen affected by high year of tenure changes…

So did she get the job because she's sh*t-hot or because she's got tits? Becoming Thunderbird is dream come true for Nevada native by Verla D. Davis 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs 7/6/2005 - ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England (AFPN) -- She was only 5 years old when she saw an F-4 Phantom fighter jet soar and maneuver through the clouds during an air show. It was then she knew she would someday do the same. Now, 26 years later, Capt. Nicole Malachowski is getting her chance to do just that and enter the history book at the same time. The 494th Fighter Squadron flight commander and F-15E Strike Eagle instructor pilot here was recently selected to be the fi…

I was reading about some of the Thud pilots in Vietnam having specialized "party suits" and wondered where they all went? I saw this post but I have not really seen any pilot wear one. Has the PC-Shoe influence caused the party suits to fall by the wayside? Seems like it would be a good way to show that bit of rebellion in the AOR while still maintaining that "professional" appearance.

Another baseops guy asked me to share my experience/knowledge of the Career Skills Program. If you're looking to get out early and get setup as you transition to the civilian world the CSP is definitely a great alternative to Palace Chase and a lot less bureaucracy. Once you have a date of separation in the system you can apply for the CSP but at a minimum you have to apply 30 days prior to when you want to start. You can do the CSP for up to 180 days. You will work for a civilian company as an unpaid intern (some other unpaid options available too) while getting all your normal pay and benefits from the AF. Basically you're on PTDY to anywhere you want (and your CC…

"Air Force Reserve Command Public Affairs Office 11/26/2012 - Robins Air Force Base, Ga. -- A new proposed Aviator Retention Pay program for Air Force Reserve aircrew is expected to begin in 2013. The ARP plan focuses on retaining aircrew officers to meet basic mission requirements for the reserve. The offer will target only locations where significant shortfalls in rated officer manning exist and will offer a $30,000 bonus over a three-year span. Pilots and combat systems officers who have completed their initial training commitment including those eligible for retirement but excluding those in the 16 to 20 years of service wil…

Anybody catch that show on the History Channel the other night? Pretty interesting stuff. Most of it speculation I'm sure, but cool nonetheless. Is the B-1R something that is actually being considered? Cool concept, liked the V-tail it had. I had heard they were possibly going to re-engine the BONEer with Raptor engines, but I didn't know they were going to make it an AMRAM truck. Screw the BONE, lets put a bunch of 120s on the BUFF!

Some guy in California was just convicted and sentenced to 30 months for lasing aircraft. https://edition.cnn.c...l?iref=obinsite We'll see if he actually serves any of that time, though. I'm sure some slick lawyers are lining up to make a name for themselves appealing the conviction pro bono.

This is pretty cool... https://www.startribune.com/local/230375891.html SUPERIOR, Wis. — Two planes carrying skydivers collided in midair Saturday evening in far northwest Wisconsin, but no major injuries were reported. Mike Robinson, an instructor and safety adviser for Skydive Superior, said he and 10 others escaped relatively unharmed after one plane crashed into the other during what he said was a common tandem formation. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Roland Herwig said the collision occurred about 6 p.m. at about 12,000 feet. Robinson said he and four others were preparing to jump from the lead plane with the trailing plane hit their craf…

New O-5 here with lots of C-5 and airline time and bad habits going to Altus early next year and transitioning to the C-17. Do any of you C-5 guys that have transitioned have any thoughts on how to make it easier? What's important to study? I've heard all the horror stories about back side flying. How's Barney behind the tanker? Is the HUDD wierd to get used to? NVGs? Assaults? I liked the C-5, but it was pretty much big concrete to big concrete. I'll sit back with a J/C and read your replies. Hi guys, I've applied to 2 guard units so far and no luck...but going to keep trying for now. If I didn't have a good paying job I would totally apply for AD. I know it is difficult to get into pilot training no matter how you go about it, but I imagine it would be easier to get picked up if you went the AD route instead of the guard units. I'm considering going AD for a few other reasons. Browsing through this forum I have read account of AD pilots who have just had an absolute blast in their AF careers. They got to fly numerous different airframes and traveled to all sorts of interesting places. Along with that they work with a great group of guys and form…
