I always thought the Air Force was the one place where equality and fairness actually meant something. Boy was I wrong. I knew this all along after I sat in on my first court martial. I thought if the kid who was being court martialed had a REAL lawyer he would walk free. If your defense counsel breaks out a PowerPoint presentation you should fire him/her or expect to be found guilty period. I told the Lt Col for JAG I will not be apart of another court martial due to the AF being just as biased as the civilian court system. He told me the WG/CC really wanted me on the board. Does anyone else feel stabbed in the back by this? Instead of fixing the problems that make people want to get out, he wants to make it harder for his pilots to get hired by the airlines? What a low blow...or am I reading this wrong?

why is the t-38 so hard to land? I heard thats the reason most students drop out of 38s.

Spending the night in Tampa so I can brief one of the muckity mucks at SOCOM. These tanker boys got it made. It's been a while since I've RONed here and the place looks great. New housing, new facilities everywhere and they even program the rental cars for you. I got in mine and it went right to Mons Venus.

I have always carried that type of mindset playing basketball and aspiring to become a pilot. It paid off, but working ten times harder than others will burn you out at some point. Guard member, PCSd from HOR to UPT base in Feb 2015. Got paid for PCS in April 2015. October 2016, I get a nasty gram in the mail from DFAS saying they paid me twice for my PCS, and are collecting the debt. No phone number or person to call, just DFAS mailing address. I also got a 'Travel Voucher Advice of Payment' online, showing a travel voucher debt. Jan 2017 they collect the 'debt' from my paycheck. The AF never paid me twice.. I have all the bank statements to prove. When I submitted my voucher, I believe finance modified the voucher to remove UHaul insurance, and refiled it. Current Army C-12 aviator here. Since the demolition of the Air Force FWQ, I'm assuming that on occasion you get some high hour Army fixed wing bubbas and/or prior helo guys in upt. I was just curious if they go through the exact same curriculum/same hours/etc as the regular students (Seems silly that I'd need the full academic curriculum/the full flight hour load if I already had 1000+ hours in a C-12 and 500+ in a Hawk). Also curious how many guys you all see going through UPT above age 30. Thanks!

I already searched but couldn't find anything helpful. I'm PCS'ing to Edwards this winter and am trying to find some info about the area. I've already read the AF Crossroads info but it wasn't much help. From what I've heard, it's best to stay on base to avoid the crime and long commute of the local "communities" like Boron and California City. Any truth to this? Any other advice for adjusting to living in the Mojave desert? Subscribe to Netflix if I already haven't? Thanks. - BK

I realize I am sacrificing some anonymity here, but I feel it's worth it if it helps one person. I was the co-pilot on the C-17 4-engine flameout on 17 Sept 2010 in Pakistan. An SIB was conducted (anything privileged won't be discussed here), a CDI was ordered, and I went to an FEB. The board decided I should return to flying the C-17. AMC/CC non-concurred and disqualified me from aviation service. I then got a referral OPR D2 that decision, which limited the AFSCs I could crosstrain to (Acft mx). Ok guys, serious post for once (yeah, shut-up haters; you loved it the past couple of years). Tony recently published an article on his site about dealing with toxic leaders to fix the Air Force. I look around my aviation community (remaining unnamed to protect the guilty), and I just don't see it. Guess I'm either lucky, clueless, or one of the culprits (again, shut up haters.
