Squadron Bar
Off-topic discussion. Keep it civil, don't abuse this forum.
1 – Keep it civil
If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed. If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.
2 - Listen before you speak
A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."
Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force. Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.
3 – UTFSF
Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.
4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.
After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"
5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense
This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".
6 – No unpaid advertisements
Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed. Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum. For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

Anybody else watching and enjoying the soccer currently being shown on ESPN? I grew up in Pakistan and Taiwan so played soccer my whole life and really love it when we get some good soccer on ESPN. I personally think Croatia was screwed with the extra time in their game/match against Turkey. But how can you not be excited about Turkey and their 3 come from behind victories so far. If you like soccer you've no doubt enjoyed some great soccer so far!

So, anybody? Furthermore, do any of you see moral/ethical dilemmas in doing so?

"Perhaps the best Air Force recruiting commercial in history was posted to social media on Monday, but the Air Force recruiting service had nothing to do with its creation. The 14-second long video shows a pair of pilots making their way down the flight line at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, flight-suited up and carrying their helmet bags. The thing is, one of them is not walking: he’s rolling on a skateboard while holding what looks to be a cell phone to his ear..." https://taskandpurpose.com/mandatory-fun/air-force-pilot-skateboard-flightline/ 1504528583_AirForceamnncosncoonFacebookWatch.mp4

Article on seaplanes being discussed and potentially considered, not sure if this is the new light attack platform being "considered" but enjoy: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/40694/amphibious-mc-130j-transport-is-on-special-operations-commands-wishlist Ok, would this really be useful or just damn cool or both? Expeditionary logistics to remote islands or ships at sea, long range maritime CSAR, ISR, Patrol & Attack, probe and drogue AR (helos), etc...

Article copied from Fox News but they lifted it from the Wall Street Journal (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/08/08/sell-f-fighter-jets-saudis/). I thought these were reputable news organizations? I mean really? And I guess nobody thought it would be good to check and see if Saudi Arabia already owned any F-15's...I mean they only have 82 C/D models and 71 S (E) models...

Hey all - There's a group putting together an order for the custom Breitling F-15C Aerospace 1A watch. PM me for details, the order is about to go in - I believe we're 1 short. This may be the last time to get this iconic watch for quite a while, as the Breitling US rep went to bat for us to be able to order with only 15 folks. Cost is in the $2500 + $25 shipping.

A buddy of mine is taking orders for a Breitling F-16/A-10 combo watch and the A-10 watch. PM me and I'll pass his info. I do know the combo watch will be the first of its kind for those of us who have flown both. Two for one. 'Attack' will not be on the combo watch. He will pass more info later. $2500 per watch Rated only. His request, not mine.

Interesting...but glad he's OK! (source) An F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet piloted by the son of a candidate to be the Oklahoma attorney general crashed in rural Louisiana on Wednesday during a training exercise. Gentner Drummond, a former Air Force captain and Republican seeking the top law office in the Sooner State, said in a Facebook post that the plane was flown by his son, Alexander, a captain major in the Oklahoma Air National Guard 138th Fighter Wing who ejected prior to the crash... A colleague who is F22 pilot for the Virginia ANG had honor of flying a Phantom at Eglin. He flew the aircraft we had at the reunion. Here is the F-22 pilot’s thoughts on flying the F-4: I flew your jet a couple days ago (see attached). I had a little trouble getting the engines started, so I climbed out and shoveled some more coal in the back; after that she fired right up. Ground ops were uneventful, although I couldn’t figure out why the cockpit smelled like body odor, Jack Daniels and cigars…and that was BEFORE I got in it! By the way, what’s with the no slip crap on top of the intakes, it’s like you have permanent icing conditions due to that spray on rhino t…

Anyone see that Ford F-150 commercial this last Sunday? They supposedly dropped a truck out the back of a Herc attached to a bunch of cables and the truck proceeded to stop the aircraft. At first I was thought no f'ing way that would ever happen, but then I thought of all the false advertisement chit that could nail Ford if it wasn't true -- I still think there is NO way the AF would agree to that, maybe I'll bring up the lawsuit... True or not, I figured this would be a good time to hear some cool stories of other sweet stuff you crusty old guys have done.

https://www.wired.com...drone-grounded/ The state of Hawaii spent $75,000 to purchase a drone to conduct aerial surveillance over Honolulu Harbor, but the aircraft has been sitting in storage since it was delivered last year because authorities have been prohibited from flying it. https://bcove.me/ew8gzx1y

Any mil comp experts here…specifically regarding type ratings. If so: is the 10 hr requirement solely PIC, or can it be SIC or even OTH?
