Squadron Bar
Off-topic discussion. Keep it civil, don't abuse this forum.
1 – Keep it civil
If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed. If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.
2 - Listen before you speak
A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."
Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force. Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.
3 – UTFSF
Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.
4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.
After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"
5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense
This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".
6 – No unpaid advertisements
Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed. Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum. For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

I'm going to buy my first handgun sometime this week and am torn between the USP .40, Sig P229 .40 and S&W MP .40 (slight favorite). All have received great reviews, and after shooting them, I'm swaying towards the S&W. I'd appreciate it if any of you could share your experience(s) with these pistols...or if you have any suggestions for other pistols you think I should look at, fire away! Thanks guys, check six!

Ladies, The past few months have seen some heated discussions from both sides of the aisle and tomorrow night we will likely know who the next president of the United States is. Let this serve as a reminder that after tomorrow, regardless of your opinion of the person elected, there are regulations that govern the military and comments on the Commander in Chief. As military members we give up some of our rights in order to serve as protectors of this great nation. I urge all of you to become A-Political tomorrow night and remember the oath you swore to protect and defend the constitution.

All too many threads have become politically charged (guilty myself), so let's have at least one thread to lighten things up.

I found this disturbing and had to disturb others. I also though we needed a thread to post all those things that make you say "WTF?" Ft Pierce Woman Accused of Shoplifting and Brandishing a "Special Weapon."

Well if we’re going to have a conversation going about soccer, for the love of God we should have at least one for this year’s college football season! It’s been a hell of a great year. Lots of upsets, surprisingly close games, and some old power houses awakening from their slumber and making some waves again (UT, USC, etc) and the “playoff” not including Alabama or Clemson and including TCU?! I wasn’t too excited about the transfer portal initially, however, I think it has led to some extra excitement. And speaking of playoffs, can we get a 12 team bracket now, please?

Maybe some of you eat this stuff up. Perhaps, you're confident your horse will win. I'm actually nauseated for our future. I'm turning off the TV and watching some Netflix. I'll wake up tomorrow and maybe I'll care to see what happened. I need a beer. Out

I am a flight commander in charge of a section of 8 people. Half are civilian. 7 out of 8 are outstanding workers. I have 1 that's always been a been of a problem. He is a difficult individual. I won't get too deep into the details but he's constant undermining authority, doing what he wants, and making consistently negative comments about other shop members and myself when they're not present. He loves to gossip, spread rumors and pit people against each other. He just creates a very poor, toxic work environment for everyone else. He's been doing this before I started. He is generally awful and has been a problem since I started the position a little over a year ago. As …

So I thought about something, if UPT is maxed out and there is a portion of students that know they are going back to heavy units (a few guys sometimes do very well and switch to fighter units and vice versa but that’s the exception and not the rule) why not establish an ARC only program, half contractor half mil instructed to alleviate waiting in the regular UPT system / boost productivity? Adopt the 141 based training for pre mil instruction, but a stand alone program, then 1 or 2 locations for the multi engine mil based training. No T-6 time. GA based PPL with INSTM training then AMEL and x-country. Tailwheel, upset recovery and acro basics. No formation in this phase…

A thread for guessing what’s gonna happen https://www.theblaze.com/shows/glenn-tv/3-blazetv-hosts-give-their-top-2026-predictions-and-theyre-wild Based on the article, Clark’s prognostications: Geo political: Ukraine War ends by summer, tense peace, Russia continues grey zone actions but shifts to Baltic shenanigans. China does more encirclement exercises but does not invade. Venezuela destabilizes further but does not fall. Oil and China keeps regime a float. Iran cracks down and survives, IC navel gazes and allows brutal repression. Turkey gets refugee influx, they ship them to Europe. Europe intakes them reluctantly and governments get wobbly but order remains. Oth…

After maxing-out Roth IRA's and placing a small mint in TSP, the wife and I are wondering where else could investment money go? Ideas out of ordinary? Heard these: Rental house, raw gold before in case of economic collapse, weekly stock trading, savings deposit program, bullets & assault rifles, lottery tickets We've also gleamed some info from previous threads on the Roth, SDP, and TSP. But haven't seen any good direct comparisons of those common methods or much beyond those common methods. What about a small side-business? Or something else? What is something different you all have heard/seen active duty do as an financial investment outside the norms?

Article on seaplanes being discussed and potentially considered, not sure if this is the new light attack platform being "considered" but enjoy: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/40694/amphibious-mc-130j-transport-is-on-special-operations-commands-wishlist Ok, would this really be useful or just damn cool or both? Expeditionary logistics to remote islands or ships at sea, long range maritime CSAR, ISR, Patrol & Attack, probe and drogue AR (helos), etc...

Hundreds, maybe thousands, of these videos around. My ex had a case dropped when dash cam showed a completely different story than the cop wrote up. I don't necessarily believe in "defunding" cops but I do believe in reform.

Not sure if you all saw that Senior Chief Petty Officer Britt Slabinski was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions at Roberts Ridge back in 2002. The interesting part is that TSgt John Chapman is also being awarded the MoH for the same battle. The controversy is that some think Slabinski left Chapman behind and the NSW community tried to block Chapman’s MoH to protect the reputation of the SEAL community. Thoughts? https://www.newsweek.com/2018/05/18/navy-seals-seal-team-6-left-behind-die-operation-anaconda-slabinski-chapman-912343.html?amp=1

I was listening to some, kind of old school but not really, rock while doing homework tonight and It made me wonder what some of your guys' music taste is. I am looking to broaden my music preferences and understand the culture (what typical mil pilots would listen to). I am sure y'all have some exceptional gems that I haven't heard of yet. so, what was a repeat song of yours while serving/ flying or now? I know this kind of relates to "things to listen to while drunk on BO", but I can't possibly see myself drunk posting on a forum to people I dont know about music. no disrespect intended Biff, keep doing you brother. 😁 this one of the songs ive been listening t…
