    That explains things somewhat! Back around '97, D-M hosted an ACC Crud tournament. It was sponsored by Hiram Walker and the winning team got $10,000. Every ACC base but one sent a team. It was awesome. When we got there, the Wing CC Colonel gave a talk to all of the teams in the Club. Cynical me was waiting to hear the usual spiel, blah blah blah. Instead, he gave a great but short talk about keeping the traditions alive and to make the most of the weekend. I don't remember the specific worlds but it was so refreshing to hear someone tell us to push it up hard and leave exhausted.     Probably goes a long ways to explain why we as a country can't win wars, build roads in a reasonable amount of time, why our biggest manufacturers (Boeing, Ford, etc.) have lost their way, etc.

Air National Guard Tests F-15 Fighter Against Helicopters An HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter deploys countermeasure flares as an F-15D Eagle maneuvers overhead during a joint over-water test flight, Aug. 20, 2025. (U.S. Air Force) Two helicopters faced off against an F-15D Eagle fighter aircraft above water in an unprecedented combat defense test conducted by the Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and U.S. Navy. The test saw an HH-60W Jolly Green and an HH-60G Pave Hawk defend against attacks by an F-15D in a maritime setting. The attacks were staged to simulate real-world scenarios in which U.S. rescue helicopters were fired upon at sea. “The HH-60W has never undergone this type of evaluation. This test data will help us determine how effective U.S. countermeasures are against fighter aircraft over water,” U.S. Air Force Lt. Col.     I have nothing to add other than I toured the F-35 production line in Fort Worth a few weeks ago, and it's pretty cool.

    F-35 pilot held 50-minute airborne conference call with engineers before fighter jet crashed in Alaska "An Air Force investigation blamed the crash on ice in the hydraulic lines in the nose and main landing gears of the F-35, which prevented them from deploying properly." "At that point, the F-35’s sensors indicated it was on the ground and the jet’s computer systems transitioned to “automated ground-operation mode,” the report said."     Gen. Fogleman is a first class act. I had just left the AF out of DMAFB when he came in as the new 1 star ADO. Moral was bad. First thing he did was to host Crud tournaments at the O'Club.

    From what they told us in RPP, the LOR should be coming from someone that has firsthand experience of your character and leadership. I understood this as it could be anyone in your CoC or someone who you worked closely with. My LOR from an O-6 I worked with had a lot of statistics of things I've done for my career field and the wing but I'm worried it sounds too robotic or just not personal enough if that makes sense? Like it sounds genuine but not heartfelt? I honestly am not sure what the board is looking for but my buddy who got picked up last year told me to avoid general, broad statements (fluff) for both my LOR and rater comments.

    I was notified that my package was received and will meet the board in September. The program managers I’m assuming reached out to all wing execs telling them whose packages were received in anticipation of wing execs sending word down the chain. That’s not how I found out how mine was received but then again, those who applied from my wing don’t even know where they stratted.

    Ahh Florida. I think I mentioned this in the past. Family member some years back was accused by crazy and now very ex-wife of DV in an attempt to get a leg up in the divorce. 3 deputies show up while he's taking out the trash and detain him along with an order to remove all his firearms and ammunition. Took 6 months and a lot of time and money to get them back though no ammunition. I think he finally paid the last of his substantial alimony earlier this year. Guilty till proven innocent.

    Yeah I did, and also had my letter of rec from a retired O-6 that I did all of my flight training with (probs a big misstep since they want to see someone from your chain of command to vouch for leadership). I will say that FY23 was pretty competitive with only 69 pilot slots. I wouldn’t be discouraged either way, if the rumors end up being true and we have solid numbers I think we all have a good shot at getting picked up.

    Did you have PPL and those scores when you applied for FY23? I'm a young LT with pretty much the same scores as my only qualifications but no experience--trying to gauge my chances

Wanted to know, did anyone receive their receipt of submission from the UFT board team? It’s been 7 days so I’m not sure if it’s just me or it’s a common thing. Thanks in advance

    ART's used to get a second CAC (not sure if that's still a thing) and they would leave it in the computer and go home. Genius.

    It’s waiverable, but no idea on the chances of that happening. Probability of success will likely be linked to how bad the AF needs pilots (my guess is not bad enough to regularly waive TBI). Hopefully a flight doc can chime in with better info.

    Another gem. Dude is deaf, the police KNOW he is deaf but beat the F@ck out of him for "not listening." They mock him and his hearing aides, then charge him with resisting with violence. He bails out immediately which angers the cops so the add another charge of assault on a police officer which revokes his bail. Dude spends 58 days in jail with no bond.
