December 26, 20195 yr It rips me apart to post this, Matmacwc flew west peacefully Christmas morning after a long fight with cancer. He bravely fought it to the end. He was truly a good man and a great fighter pilot. If your inclined to pray please pass a few on to his family. Nickle on the grass my friend. 🍺
December 26, 20195 yr Wow. Prayers to the family. I am ashamed to say I didn’t even know he was fighting through this. How old was he? Any kids or ways to make a donation? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

December 26, 20195 yr @matmacwc was an amazing IP that helped teach me how to fly the Viper. A real class act and he'll be greatly missed by all.
December 26, 20195 yr Sara posted the following: In lieu of flowers he would have wanted donations to MD Anderson cancer center or USO. ❤️ https://www.uso.org/donate/donate-in-honor/?sc=WW14IMOIHO
December 27, 20195 yr If anyone is in AZ and interested in the service information, PM me your email and I will forward. A viewing is planned for Sun night and the funeral is Monday morning in the Tucson area.

December 27, 20195 yr We had pm'd a few times planned to get together when he was coming out to visit relatives near me. I had no idea he was dealing with this. I will pray for him and for those that knew and loved him who have lost a treasured family member and friend. My condolences to those that served and flew with him. p.s. I never asked him what "Matmacwc" meant. Any idea, CH (or anyone)? Edited December 27, 20195 yr by HuggyU2

December 27, 20195 yr Did not know him personally but we had quite a few good PM convo's. I noticed a few posts here and there about being out on medical but he never brought it up. Terrible! Nickel on the grass!
December 27, 20195 yr A baseops original. I remember reading his post when I was still in HS, wanting to be a pilot, and I found this forum one day. Never knew him in real life, but sounds like he was a hell of a guy.
