The one Zelensky fucked up? I'm one of the more pro-funding-Ukraine people here, but that was an absolute dumpster fire. What did he think his job at that meeting was? Just because your flag is raised to the same height doesn't make you peers with the US. He knew the starting positions of Trump and Vance, and he should have known Trump's disposition towards flatter, and he decided to press. I'm not saying he's factually wrong, but his job at that meeting wasn't to be the debate champion. I wish this was just Trump playing 4D chess to get the Europeans to take over funding Ukraine, but it's not. Trump's first impeachment made Zelensky the enemy, and he's looking for any reason to embarrass him. Zelensky failed the test. However the end result may still be that the Europeans finally take ownership of their sphere of influence.5 points

So a "known racist" has a POV on a topic unrelated to race, and it's "not ideal" that a similar POV aligns with this? What? hope you don't like vegetables, because Hitler liked vegetables and we know how that turned out.5 points

Fine, but I'd also like to Q3 the requirements branch that bought the R model engines without flat bottoms. The AF decided it was cheaper to Q3 people than add some breathing room to landing a, looks at calendar, 80 year old airplane. So if we hold the pilots responsible than I also want everyone else in the stupidity tree to be held to the same standard.4 points

I'm sure it was all 4d chess because trump is such a generational negotiating talent /s Definitely not him getting into a shouting match because he's an easily offended boob with no filter3 points

I quoted that person because after responding myself multiple times I felt perhaps their words would make the point I was attempting in a way which resonated better and added details. If you feel my own points were inarticulate I welcome that feedback. I did watch the video. In fact I posted a 10 minute clip of the video. If you have feedback on something I said, I’m ready to listen. If you have additional inputs on the quote I added to assist my point, I’m not interested, it’s boring. Didn’t know you were waiting? Here’s my standard: if the quote is cogent and concisely articulates a concept I find true, I will use it. I have a whole list of quotes, and many of them from people with moral failings including Ghandi (who beat his wife), Socrates (who was found guilty of corrupting the youth) and Sun Tzu (who was a racist mercenary). I try to judge ideas based on the ideas, rather than dismiss them because the speaker has other failings.2 points

I think the more relevant point is if the only people you can find to support your position are racists, there aren't enough people supporting your position. Just find better supporters. It's the Internet. Sure, the line between eugenics and racism is fuzzy, but he was using a pseudonym, so let's not pretend this clown is like Charles Murray. He did also apologize, and young people say dumb shit. But, find a better spokesperson2 points

On that note, our A-37... the only one flying in North America... will be at the March ARB Airshow on 12-13 April. Although I'm one of the two pilots, I don't fly it in airshow aerobatics, but the guy that does is absolutely top shelf. And the jet has the best smoke system of any jet out there. It is currently spending the winter in the Warhawk Museum at Nampa, ID. It has a unique history in that it was captured by the communists, who then flew the jet in combat against the South Vietnamese. Yes, it flew on both sides. It's one of 10 A-37's that were bought from the commies by an Aussie, and finally purchased by the current owner who spent 20 years restoring it himself. He has photos of his jet with both the North and the South, and it looks exactly the way it did in 1972. If you make it to the March Airshow, swing by and introduce yourself. I'll be wearing the bright orange flight suit with the HUGGY name tag. I look like a traffic cone, only bigger. Hard to miss. And yes, those fuel drop tanks actually work. The jet is thirsty and you need them to go anywhere. But that thirst translates to a lot of power. It puts out in MIL what a T-38A puts out in MAX.2 points

Side note - they bought CFM 56s with the aforementioned lower accessories drive unit because the good idea fairy thought they could quick change them on the ramp because airlines that do 20x more flying than the AF does just weren’t that smart and couldn’t see the need for that capability1 point

He’s done a few episodes with Preet Bhara’s podcast, Stay Tuned. Here is his latest one which was right after the election. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/stay-tuned-with-preet/id1265845136?i=10006777499191 point

Nah, just pointing out bias in the highest order. It would be no different if I posted a Breitbart article being negative towards Biden. But if you don’t think The Atlantic is severely biased against Trump then we’ll just have to agree to disagree.1 point

So the Ukrainians are fighting for fake freedom from Russia? Please elaborate on when it's OK or not allowed to fight for, what you phrase as "freedom." Its an interesting point to ponder. Coffee, then beer.1 point

I haven't heard much about Hanania before, and I didn't post his tweet originally, but here's another tweet from Konstantin Kisin, a co-host on Triggernometry, expressing the same thing. There isn't even much of a "position" here to support or object to. People just need to listen to the whole Trump / Zelenskyy interview for context...1 point

Why not deal with the content of his tweet straightforwardly as opposed to parsing it through the lens of whatever "racism" a wikipedia editor accused him of? Don't we make fun of the progressive left for pre-screening ideas based on ideological alignment?1 point

Don’t avoid the answer. There’s no path to victory for Ukraine. How would you realistically push the Russians back?1 point

So for clarity, how would you achieve this humiliating defeat Putin deserves? I don't disagree he deserves it, but it's not happening. Would you just continue more of the same? I understand your emotion, i'm hoping for a practical answer.1 point

So if European countries don’t pick up the tab, is it because they’re pro-Putin? Honest question.1 point
-
Good question (and fair reply in 1st paragraph). No that was an embarrassing display on all sides. But honest question back: what should Trump have done when Zelensky went out of his way to pick a fight in a public setting? It was very rude and inappropriate, how would you have played it?1 point
-
With Putin’s forces walking back across the sovereign border in the humiliating defeat he deserves; certainly not with the POTUS using Putin’s figures and arguments in public to force “peace.” Russia can end this anytime. Putin is using Trump to achieve his ends, and you argued above in favor of that. F that.1 point

I see you lack the ability to convince others or defend your thoughts, that's unfortunate. I'm sure relationships are difficult. For the record I don't, he is an evil dictator. But as a thought experiment, how do you think the war will end? You'd advocate for more UKR funding and close yourself off even further to discussion. Ok, we've tried that for many years and UKR is slowly bleeding to death. Do you have any ideas on how to solve this conflict?1 point

What’s embarrassing is the hundreds of billions of dollars (that we’ve taken on as debt) that we’ve given to support their cause.1 point

I don't mean this disrespectfully, but that line of logic is not intelligent. For starters, Russian talking points are how Russians feel. If you want to negotiate an end to conflict, you must take into account how the Russians feel. Secondly does labeling something "talking points" mean the perspective is invalid and not worthy of discussion? That's what's implied whenever I hear that phrase: a complete dismissal of the argument. I'm sure it makes you feel immune to propaganda, and it's fine if you hold all the winning cards and you're in a winning position. But if you're losing, like Ukraine is, then you kinda have to engage in diplomacy with other people, and that means an outright dismissal of their perspective is infeasible. Finally imagine if that conversational technique was used against you, would you appreciate somebody dismissing your opinion and refusing to answer the concerns you raise because they categorize your thoughts as illegitimate and talking points from the other side? No, you would not appreciate that, in fact that would be a very dumb way to engage with you or anybody. Because it's dumb.1 point

monopoly? on what? cars? superior tesla car orbital internet? superior product spacex? superior launch platform at a cost savings from other competitors. elon is the richest man in the world he doesn't need more money. the dude is driven to fix problems and his resume is evidence of that. https://www.fool.com/investing/2022/06/05/did-spacex-really-save-taxpayers-40-billion/ "General Hyten, [then] the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, told me last year ... the fact that we have competition now on going to space -- just for the military -- has saved them $40 billion in launch costs." Now, $40 billion is a big number, and it's not entirely clear how Hyten came up with it. Still, SpaceX has been launching government satellites at significant discounts to the prices charged by space companies such as Boeing (BA 0.46%), Lockheed Martin (LMT 1.12%), and Northrop Grumman (NOC 1.12%) for about a decade."1 point
