The KC-130 and KC-10 were easy, provided there was no turbulence. If there was turbulence give me that heavy ass 135 basket any day. But you definitely had to put that kink in the hose or you'd fall out continually. The 135 had/has a bad rap I think because it was more difficult to stay in once you plugged, and there wasn't much room for error once you were in the basket vice the 10 and 130 which could prove problematic given the heft of the basket. The only thing odd about tanking on the 130 was you were flying 230KCAS in the high teens, so much higher AOA and less throttle response.3 points

Either you don’t know the definition of high income earner or you’ve got some serious write offs / offshore banking going on. If it’s the latter, please share how you’re both making $200K+ each year and only paying 17% fed. We’d all like to know!3 points

Since we’re in the Russia/Ukraine thread, I’m not going to debate taxes here with you. However, if you feel the answer to helping the crack addict to get off crack is to buy him more crack then we don’t have much to debate anyway. Certainly more need to pay their fair share, certainly more need to quit dodging the law and most certainly people need to quit taking advantage of others and contribute instead of leach off the system. But to increase the burden on law abiding, rule following citizens isn’t the answer. Lastly, I’m glad you feel you paid too little in taxes last year. Once again the fed, will be happy to take whatever you’d like to donate. I personally paid double your rate. That seems like plenty, wouldn’t you agree?3 points

Look what you made me do, I said I wasn’t going to argue here, but maybe us stupid people just need a leader to show us the way. Put your money where your mouth is. Pay more taxes, who knows maybe some folks will join you. It’s kind of hypocritical for you to be preaching that we all need to be taxed more, but you’re unwilling to do that out of your own benevolence, wouldn’t you say? And as for asinine arguments, you stated the at you’ve grown up enough to know Uncle Sam won’t make any sound financial decisions, so we better just keep giving him more $. I’m looking for a better word, nope…asinine works just fine.2 points

stoker here's the problem of your logic...you think throwing more money at DC will solve the problem. wrong. these jokers will happily take more of your tax dollars and light them on fire. maybe these entitlement programs need to die a very painful death. also stop derailing my thread i'm currently torching CH and lawman and you are stealing my spotlight2 points

I don't remember the airspeed but we did the standard tanker rejoins in the AAR track like the Phantom and had no problems staying with the tanker. I gave all my Dragonfly stuff to Huggy so he might know. All ours had the AAR equipment when we received the planes from the Guard/Reserve (that was a first) and put the O-2A's in the Boneyard. For the younger guys, in the late '70's there were massive AF DOS's as the airlines were hiring...think deregulation. But then almost overnight all the airlines began furloughing ('81) and the AF wanted us back. We could almost write our own orders...I didn't want to go back to Recce and thought the OA-37 at DMAFB would be cool. I was right and after a 4 year commitment, went back to the airlines.2 points

Where’s the signed, ratified treaty to defend Ukraine? I actually produce sources. It’s a proven fact the US promised to not advance nato via the sec state James baker. Don’t be ignorant.2 points

Well I'm definitely not voting for you. We absolutely do NOT need to raise taxes on working individuals (i'm open to the discussion of raising or restructuring capital gains tax). you're not wrong that entitlement spending, although problematic, is also a sacred cow and politicians are unlikely to be elected if they cut entitlement spending. but how about we cut some government agencies in half or completely before we discuss raising my already 30% taxes even higher? We really need a new headquarters for the FBI after they've proven themselves totally feckless? Does the ATF need to exist? How about the NEA? What about the park service, could we just cut the entire thing? Or here's an idea germane to this thread, what if we stopped funding unaffordable foreign wars that only make the world worse? until we start trimming some of the excessive government fat raising taxes should be off the table.1 point

I thought you knew...Putin wanted the Crimea so he would have access their deep water port to the Black Sea in order to move grain for export. When Ukraine’s Kremlin-friendly president was ousted in 2014 by mass protests that Moscow called a U.S.-instigated coup, Putin responded by sending troops to overrun Crimea and calling a plebiscite on joining Russia, which the West dismissed as illegal. Then President Obama then capitulated when Putin threatened and gestured about nuclear weapons.1 point

Something snapped in you a while back dude, DON'T make it personal. There is not a ratified agreement to defend Ukraine, I previously shared the SIGNED agreement. You shared an internal memo of a conversation, which others dispute... Your memo also overlooks the fact that Putin Invaded Ukraine and took the Crimea in 2014.1 point

Yes, from both the -135 & KC-10. Only USAF a/c at the time ('80's) that did probe/drogue, fun but challenging. Once plugged you had to offset the a/c left or right to put a "S" bend in the hose to keep from disconnecting. Early on we were getting poor connections with massive hose leaks. On one flt with a student the leak was so bad we went IFR...he pulled back without realigning. When we disconnected the hose aligned with the right intake pouring fuel into the engine, flaming it out. Down we went. Huggy has connections...bet he can get tanker support for his trip to OSH. I can be his IP, no charge. Navy F18 doing the same offset:1 point

So you’re for cutting wasteful spending for our children, but all for spending 100 Billion (and I’m assuming more if needed?) for Ukraine? That’s one of the first place we should be cutting spending. That’s why I don’t believe you’re for cutting waste. As for raising taxes—by how much? And I’m sure that won’t also affect economic growth.1 point

If I remember correctly, the one that crashed at NFW was an AF guy as well. For his sake, hope it's not the same guy. 1 ejection per career is bad enough.1 point

You have great scores. Reapply and keep applying. You’re only 23, so you got some time. See if any units will let you come visit on a drill weekend, bring a bottle of booze for their bar, face time is key. When a unit tells you to enlist, it’s because a guard unit wants to know who they’re going to be stuck with. If you enlist there, it gives the guys a chance to get to know you. If you don’t want to enlist, then you’re going to have to get to know them some other way. The ANG pilot hiring process is still the very best hiring process in the DOD. We can be picky, and that’s a good thing. If you don’t know any pilots there, better start trying to make some friends.1 point

No shit!! My taxes are plenty high, thank you. I’m certain the IRS will be willing to take however much more of your $ you feel is appropriate. What we have, here in the US, is a spending problem. Not a tax revenue problem.1 point

Thinking around 690 nm as I flew regularly with WG/CC between DMAFB and Bergstrom (Austin) with 4 drop tanks. Never flew it in any other configuration. Carries more external fuel than internal. Flew non stop New Orleans to Honduras (see pic) but we AAR'd on the way. Huggy is going to love the plane. I felt comfortable in it after one flight. When down to internal fuel it would fly up it's own a$$hole. Closed patterns were basically Immelmanns. UPT grads were getting FAC (OA-37/OV-10) assignments with a guaranteed fighter afterwards. Guy in pic went to F-15's, retired DAL CA now. Good looking guy on the right flew RF-4C's prior. What's an IR/VR route? 🙂 Fun times back then.1 point

Leave it to the Jack-of-all-trades Marine Corp to design an MWS that is a plane, a helicopter, and a JDAM all in one unaffordable package. They really are the America's Swiss army knife!1 point

I know I shouldn't feed the troll but this quote...wow. Seriously? Geee...I wonder what might have happened in 2014 that would cause the US to start giving them weaponry.1 point

That's my opinion. Just get a conviction for anything regardless of whatever rule or procedure has to be bent BEFORE the election knowing that an appeals court will likely throw it out. Just watched "Empire of Terror" on Daily Wire. It's a series by Bill Whittle documenting the rise of communism in Russia. Complete disregard of a fair judicial system was a hallmark of that process..... So we have that going for us.1 point

You can hate Trump, but if you believe is true justice, this should bother you. Not only did they have this trial in a place where its citizens are overwhelmingly against Trump politically, but the judge is clearly biased against the defendant, and the charges are being twisted to say, “well, it would be a misdemeanor with expired statutory of limitations but now how he did it somehow makes it a felony”…and for the final act, the judge now tells the jury that they don’t have to all agree on what the same crime is/was committed for there to be a conviction. Not even to mention that the media keeps calling this a “hush money to a porn star case”, which is not illegal.1 point

Two things can be true at the same time. We waste a lot of money because, thanks to deficit spending, we don't need to prioritize one program over another. Very different than balanced budgeting. I spent five years with a front row seat to a state budgeting process, programs get racked and stacked brutally because you just can't fund everything. And yes, we need to tax more as well. We're about to be strangled by entitlement spending in the next 20 years and if you think the solution is as simple as cutting those programs, you don't really have a very good view of how the US electoral and political process works. We need a grand bargain that raises taxes across all income levels, cuts wasteful spending, raises retirement and benefit ages to realistically track the growth of life expectancy in the last fifty years, and drives us in the general direction of a balanced budget in a decade or two. You gotta give a little to get a little. Or you can dig in your heels, say "taxes too high, no new taxes," and await the inevitable collapse of the US financial and political system. If you're lucky, it won't happen while you're alive, but your children won't thank you.-1 points
