The squadron bar is kinda like a social media platform. You say something dumb enough in the bar and you’ll get shouted down by the bros. Keep saying dumb shit, and they’ll change the door code and not let you back in. If the Bobs who own the bar decide not to change the door code and keep letting the clown talk, the bros will eventually leave and nobody likes the bar anymore. Either way, the Wing Commander isn’t coming to arrest you for just being a douche in the bar.

So when I was a casual Lt back before ORE/ORIs ended having a forklift license was useful multiple times as opposed to waiting on loggies or MX folks to move our gear, and it even helped during a short notice ONE tasker. This was back when C-Models started coming apart and where grounded UFN and we needed to pack a bunch of stuff right before Christmas for a CONUS deployment. Honestly, I think it would be awesome if all the Lts waiting for pilot training got trained to drive buses, fork lifts, etc. Because then the ops squadrons can just go to transportation check out the equipment, use it, and return it entirely on their schedule. Plus then it would be easier to screen for buffoonerous personnel before people bend airplanes. If you can't drive a bus or a forklift do we really want to trust you with an airplane?

Standard post Covid RTFS. Expect an EKG and a 60 second sit - stand exercise with a Pulse O2 sensor on. It basically can’t drop more than like 5 percent from baseline during the 60 second exercise. There was also a smell test, made me close my eyes and tell them what they had in their hand

Truth, but don’t mistake the cynicism for aspects of it not being worth it. Everyone’s calculus is different, and may change over time. I have plenty of bros who were CSO types that managed UPT (and one even in RPA) slots that are enjoying it. The flying is definitely a highlight.

I send guys to get all manner of licenses before we deploy- forklift, 10k truck, etc. We go to austere locations and it’s been a huge help to have this capability organic to our unit. That said, I empathize with the overall sentiment that line instructor pilots are tired of being forced to add non-flying responsibilities to their duties in order to cover for an organization unable to generate sufficient support. It’s true, the AF sucks at helping you. If you extend your ADSC, expect more of the same. Posture future plans accordingly.

Similarly there’s a significant portion of our populace that thinks it’s prudent to regulate free speech, criminalize so called “hate speech”, believe in cancel culture and whine like a bunch of third graders when they hear an opinion different than what their gender studies professor told them. It’s pathetic. Absolutely true though, free speech has consequences and only protects you from the government.

Sounds like us RPA guys are getting the short end of the stick with regard to the bonus but maybe that just means our career field is finally healthy. Either way, I hope we're all selected for our first choice.

WTF? Is this “process” standardized at all? This was back in Jan, but when I had the covids I never even went DNIF. I showed up to work after symptoms plus 10 days and threw the JFS switch. Smell took months to come back. If they’d have put a peppermint candle in one hand and BQZip’s mom in the other, I’d have never passed the test. Is the smell test a required part of getting off DNIF?!?

I may have one more chance to apply after this board but Itl be close to age limit. On a side note I’m Not trying to be the Debbie downer or bearer of bad news, and not sure which rated job you currently have, but rumor is at least for us RPA folk….that bonus is going away for those coming eligible in FY23. Now this is rumor mill intel so let’s all take it with a grain of salt. But more importantly let’s hope we all get picked up for whatever new job we are gunning for on this board!

No. Most people listening to a foreign language are capable of realizing they don’t understand most of it. What’s going on here is more akin to a non flying civilian perusing your dash 1 for an hour & then promptly declaring himself an expert in your weapons system.

No one here is arguing for this guy to be locked up. They are arguing that this guy is a douche, and that everyone should think that he’s a douche. Big difference. While the first amendment let’s you say almost whatever you want with a few caveats, it only protects you from the government. Private citizens, private organizations, and private businesses have all the rights in the world to never interact with this guy in a positive way again based on what he said if they want. We can judge his speech harshly. We can denounce him and convince others to denounce him. We could petition Twitter and Facebook to deplatform him right now with no real constitutional recourse - and before you tell me I’m wrong, they already did it with Trump. Twitter/Facebook could choose to do that on their own! I can even openly advocate for other free citizens to legally boycott this guy based on his beliefs. I can tell everyone else that this guy is a shitty dude, if I want. I can try to convince others of the same. As long as I don’t lie about facts, I am absolutely protected, and you should embrace that no matter how much you dislike it. It’s a common misconception that the first amendment gives you any more protection for yourself than freedom from gov persecution. It’s not freedom from societal judgment. Not even an iota. Also, arguing tolerance of all free speech could be what brings us back to the middle is a ridiculous over generalization. Would you have been the one arguing for tolerance of the American Nazi Party’s platform in 1946? Sure, the gov shouldn’t do anything if it’s not criminal. But private society choosing to harshly judge someone for being a childish douche? Sorry bout ya.

So much nonsense with this post. First, by nature of being office people are going to say some nasty things about you, par for the course. I think the issue many had was just how far the negative stuff against Trump went. I know some horrible things were said about Obama but I don't recall any pictures of famous people holding his severed head. Regardless, when did the mods stop people from saying negative things about Trump? Second, warning military members is completely valid. Volunteering to serve means you surrender some of you basic rights as an American including parts of the 1st Amendment. The perceived anonymity of the internet some times causes people to skirt the line and thus the legality of their service. Third, and most importantly, a large portion of the mods are no longer in the service and have the full protection of the Constitution to say things like F*** Joe Biden. Trump is a horrible human but in my opinion as a President he did a FAR better job than Biden. He endured a full onslaught form the mainstream media, the same media that is holding up this empty meatbag of President Brandon.

So Trump killed 220,000 people due to China virus last year. But Biden's plan to beat the virus has killed more than double that this year. And, supposedly, we're gonna get told to learn to live with the virus, but those who aren't vaccinated yet will still die tonight. Quite the reuniting of the country. Exactly. "F Trump" in 2016-2020 was met with "How dare they insult the POTUS that way???" And mods on this site warned military members about criticizing the POTUS. Then, no more than 2 months into the Biden Presidency, it's "F Joe Biden," and the same mods joining in. ...Gee, what changed? Total hypocrites. BOTH Trump and Biden are absolutely terrible and a disgrace. Why not at least be consistent?
