  1. Started by LFA7Roundabout,

The jungle drums are beating in the UK planespotting community with the rumours of some USMC F-18's that are visiting Lakenheath to fly through the "Roundabout" in LFA7 in the coming weeks If anyone would be kind enough to confirm this either way then please can you drop me a pm Thanks in advance Alex

Does anyone have any experience getting a CONUS-based ALTREV coordinated? I’m trying to figure out how to set up AAR off track and the local knowledge how to do that has departed the fix.

  4. I saw the openings on the 365 list, and was pretty interested - anybody know someone I can talk to who is actually doing it. I've lost my contacts since leaving the T-6 awhile back... Same goes for anyone doign Kinetic Caravan...

Anybody else have their Services Squadron merging with the Mission Support Squadron into "Force Support Squadron" "The new squadron will have five flights: Force Development, Manpower and Personnel, Airmen and Family Services, Sustainment Services and Community Services." Great, so now we can have the limited hours of the MSS combined with the daily e-mail spam of the Services squadron. It's the best of both worlds!

While I certainly agree that OPSEC is tremendously important, the MilitaryTimes article cited as reference seems to indicate that LtCol Shower did nothing wrong. Further, take a look at the (very long) reply to the original article here: Defense for Dozer You have to scroll down past the original article. To add one further....we received a 2nd briefing today at work that seems to back up some of the comments in the article. Namely, that the briefing wasn't a multi-agency investigation, as the shield emblems on the front of the brief suggest, and that OSI might have violated a number of their own rules in releasing a brief that publicly identified an active …

I'd like a template of a lineup card for formation flying. Something from the T-38 or T-6 is probably the best for what I need, but I'll take anything. I'd rather not reinvent the wheel. It needs to be editable. PM me for an email address to send it. Thank you.

Does anybody have any experience as a school alternate? When were you notified of your selection (or non-selection)? Did your CFM communicate with you at all during the wait?

I've heard a lot about work days typically running to the 12-hour mark. That's all well and good, but when do you AD guys find time to go to the gym?! I'm not even commissioned yet and I find it a struggle to fit in an 8-hour work day, all of my daily responsibilities AND an hour or two at the gym. When do you guys work out? (And if this has been answered before, searching the forum didn't reveal a single post that contained the word "gym.")

Hey guys I was just wondering what the rules are about going out of town for the weekend on Active Duty. In about 4 weeks I graduate and commission and then I'm off to ASBC on 29 May and then to Columbus for Casual on 14 July and then I start UPT 26 Feb 08. You see I'm thinking about getting into standup jetski racing and I was wondering if this would be possible with my career? I would basically like to attend races within 5-7 hours of my base occasionally on the weekends. It wouldn't be another career or something that I would be trying to make money at. It would just be a weekend hobby type of thing. What are the rules about going out of town for the weekend on …

I don't have any and apparently I need them here. Where can I get them with the least amount of hassle? Can you just order them online someplace? Or is there some hidden shop on most bases that will make/issue them to you?

Do most bases offer language courses? If not, are there any options for officers to learn a 'high value' language besides on their own time? Thanks

  15. Fill in the blanks: "In the [insert Military Branch], you're actually a ______ first, then a pilot second" and give me a reason why this is the case I've seen it on multiple posts here and there, decided I may want to try to coalesce these answers all together under one. For example, marketing tells me that going Warrant Officer Army Pilot all you'll do is fly helicopters. I find this a little too good to be true as with any leadership position there comes a bevy of staff duties to fulfill. Like making sure the fridge is stocked. For example: In the Marines, you're actually a rifleman first, a pilot second. Because "oo-rah kill". So let's hear it! Wha…

I am currently at PIT and planning on taking leave during the week of Christmas. Will I still get per diem while I am on leave during that time? I have asked the finance office here at RAFB and one person said I would and the another said I wouldn't. I was just looking for anyone that has dealt with the same thing. Thanks.

  18. The Air Force MARS Phone Patch Net has been operational since the Vietnam War. Hundreds of patches daily were handled through the early 80’s when bases starting closing their MARS stations. Today the net is tasked to handle DoD patch requests in support of transports, tankers, bombers and other aircraft and ground units handling routine weather, ETA/Customs, maintenance, etc. calls as well as emergency support. Morale calls are still happily handled. For more information see the website below. In the fall of 2014 the Chiefs of AF & Army MARS approved joint operations with AF and AR MARS stations participating. Chief Air Force MARS has approved a re-d…

Just taking a shot in the dark to see if anyone else has done this. I'm getting ready to load up PFPS on my intel-based macbook and was wondering if anyone knew of issues, drivers, etc. that I might run into. Also, if anyone has used Parallels vs. Boot Camp and can make a recommendation as to which would be better for this purpose, that would be helpful. JSM edit: Realizing that this will apply to a very small group of people, witty and sarcastic responses are welcome
