  1. Now that I am kicking around the idea of Palace Chasing I wanted to ask, is there such a thing as "too early"? In other words, I am still a few years out from being eligible so is it worth mine and the ANG sq's time to send them my resume and start contacting them? My thought is, I would rather them have my file on hand for a few years so that when that time comes, the seeds of familiarity have already been sown. However, if a guard bubba says that sending them my information this early will result in my file going to straight to the shredder, then I will wait.
  2. With airline pay and retirement being ambiguous based on many factors, does anyone have a good calculation on the financial aspects of punching at 15 and going guard/airlines versus retiring at 20?

  4. I've been flying for going on 10 years and I love my job. But I am also beginning to look at other adventures I can have in the military before my 20 is up and I spend the rest of years flying for Delta. As it so happens I got a fishing email from the exec regarding the 17th STS ALO position. I wanted to see if anyone had any SA on this job or ALO in general and what the difference may be? I have also heard extreme degrees in job satisfaction for those who went off to be ALOs ranging from "I loved it and want to go back forever" to "Worst years of my life, to hell with the Army!". I've never considered ALO as part of my future but the 17th rings a special bell that may change my mind. Its either this or FTU IP and I'm on the fence and could be pushed either way.
  5. Due to sequestration and general over all crappy timing, I am hitting the VML still inexperienced after my first assignment. I heard a rumor that being inexperienced is an auto ops assignment according to AFPC AFIs'. Is there any validity to that statement? V
  6. Can anyone say with any authority how much having a type rating helps when interviewing for an airline? Before I drop 6-9 thousand on a B737 or A320 when there is a good chance I may not be assigned to said type, does it really add that much to my military background in Strike Eagles?
