Trends in Air to Air Combat
disgruntledemployee replied to Clark Griswold's topic in General Discussion
The intricate stuff they can make with additive process is amazing, that and the advances in materials makes this a fascinating field. Anyone got a teen looking into STEM, point em this way for a looksie. -
Its called a Hipster these days.

And the Airbus A300/A310, A330, and Boeing 767. Oh, and in a ton of military marine applications (Spruance, Kidd, Oliver Hazard Perry, Ticonderoga). The CF6 class of engine is all over the place.
-
It is and that is aided by additive manufacturing which scares the crap out the OEMs. Hopefully the trend continues and we can distribute the manufacturing process to smaller companies that can 3D print key components and drive down costs while speeding acquisition.

2 Plus, let's bring back the muttonchops. That's a statement.

I want to be a pilot (ideally fighters) in the Air Force or Navy. I’m currently entering my freshman year of college at a school that has AFROTC. Keep in mind, I was accepted to this school for spring semester this year, so if I do AFROTC I’ll start a semester behind most of my classmates (not sure if that changes anything). If I want to fly, should I join AFROTC when I get to school in January, or should I wait until after college and try to get a pilot slot through OTS/OCS? I wasn’t sure where my chances would be higher. I have a non-technical major, but I think I will do well in it. Thank you!

For all the history nerds here, I watched the Netflix movie Death by Lightning, the assassination of James Garfield. The first installment is how party politics was in the GOP convention. I recommend it.

Search the USAF waiver guide for anaphylaxis, but it seems like if you can eliminate the trigger there is good waiver potential.

If you give the government the power to feed you then you give the government the power to starve you.

Won't matter soon, free/cheap beer at all those soon to be city owned/run grocery stores.

My post was regarding Mandami freezing rent, which was part of his campaign (also thought I saw a video of him calling the city to lower rent?). Currently less than 1% have rent controls, and as you correctly stated, less than 50% are rent stabilized, which yet still allows rent to be increased year after year. But I agree with you that this will be a disaster.

Being a pilot wasn't enough reason for them?? 😁😆

About 50% of NYC apartments are rent stabilized or controlled. And the mayor appoints all 9 members of rent guidelines board. So yes, he will have significant power to drive the supply side further into the shitter.

So Russia could take over the Ukraine? This is such a loser chode opinion. But I do think you could make a lot of money as a podcaster

So he can’t influence vendors to charge less for a beer at the dude’s own event…but…come Jan 1st he’ll be able to influence property owners to reduce/stop increases when it comes to charging rent.

Newsome's troll game is getting entertaining. But hey, he learned from the OG poli-troller. Orange hair would have been better. PS, more appropriately, it's their staffs making this stuff.
-
Well, he didn't charge $13 for a shitty Bud, the vendor hired to do the event did. See, Mamdani isn't a commie, he hired Capitolists to work his party. That tweeter should be happy and buy a round supporting the vendor.

I have always dreamed of being a fighter pilot in the navy or Air Force. I was going to try to get into one of the academies, but I was diagnosed with a fish allergy when I was 13 that I needed an EpiPen for so I just gave up, knowing that the allergy was disqualifying (I finally got tested for the allergy after a bad reaction, but had a history of reactions to fish when I was little). Fast forward a few years now, I just had an appointment with my allergist and we did bloodwork to see where my allergy was at. I tested negative for every type of fish except still slightly positive for cod. We then did a cod food challenge where I ate a whole cod fillet and I had no reaction at all, so my allergist said the allergy was resolved (I grew out of it). I then ate cod everyday for two weeks as instructed and I was completely fine. I’m now entering freshman year of college and am considering AFROTC (or potentially OTS/OCS after college). Do I have any chance of getting a waiver? I know I was diagnosed after the 12 years old cutoff, but I find it hard to believe I’d be DQ’d for an allergy I genuinely don’t have anymore. Thank you!

Break break from previous post: Has anyone here put their airplane in an LLC and leased to a flight school? A good friend owns the school and is very meticulous with aircraft mx, cleanliness, etc…he likes nice things and does everything possible to keep them nice. I’m not really worried about the wear/tear - someone jacks it up, that’s what insurance is for. So I’m good with that part of the conversation, more interested in what ways have you seen agreements work well vs. don’t recommend. Things like who pays for what (directly vs. reimbursed), how does money flow between the customer/flight school/your LLC, etc. If you have any firsthand data on this subject, please DM me (or put it here if you think everyone else wants to read it).

You are not far off the target, my time in tankers 01-05 had a LOT of one to a full stop at the Died flying essentially the same mission 2-3 days in a row. Complacency and expectation bias was a real CRM / ORM issue. Variety is the spice of life and necessary in the development of a military aviator
