  1. I'd really like to know how the average Russian citizen feels. I feel like we (or maybe just me) is hearing about the protests followed by mass arrests. But I figure that has to be a small minority. How does generic Ivan (Joe Shmoe) and Anastasia (Plain Jane) really feel about Putin?
  2. Agreed, but you can't train for every malfunction or contingency. Just like the KC-135 crew that flew depressurized for several hours with pax in the back passed out. At a certain point, you have to have the skill, knowledge, situational awareness, and leadership to safely operate the aircraft as a professional aviator. Should the aircrew have been able to handle a runaway stab trim/MCAS malfunction situation? Yes. Should Boeing have included that system in the pubs? Yes. Foul on both parties. Is Boeing responsible for aircrew not setting the altitude window correctly on takeoff and taking a B777 low level through a city? No...but it is really popular to villainize the company now (for good reason).
  3. Granted I did my 737/C-40 training and type with FTI at Boeing in Miami, but we did a stab trim runaway during our initial in 2017 (so before the Max accidents). My sim partner and I both flew the tanker before so it was basically a non-event and we treated it exactly like the 135. I do forget if it was in the syllabus or if the sim instructor just thought he could catch us sleeping.
  4. I still don't know what an assault rifle is and at this point I'm too afraid to ask. (just kidding...nobody knows what an assault rifle is).
  5. Audio from said event: Any 777 drivers here to ID the alarms in the background audio?

During the part with the Su-57 Felon they were in an F-14. Which makes total sense timeline wise... There is also an SR-72/Aurora looking thing at one point (or maybe that was an older trailer). But it's in there.

The Batman...Best DCU movie since Nolan (which is also before the DCU).
  8. Except we aren't talking about sanctioning/halting Russian energy exports. Sure, maybe Germany is putting a "pause" on it's pipeline...but it's just a pause. And our actions are none-existent for probably the worst reason...political. Biden knows his popularity would tank even more if gas prices went up higher (justifiably). So, instead, for domestic political points he avoiding really putting a rear naked choke on the Russians: I'd be willing to bet there are no long term US/Western sanctions against Russia (at least crippling ones) and Putin is betting on that COA as well. Temporary pain now for Putin, but he will still be supplying the LNG to Europe for decades while enjoying the view from his new loft apartment in Kyiv. And cutting out of Swift won't happen because everyone still needs to pay for that Russian LNG.
  9. Well, technically, isn't inaction a form of appeasement? And I'm not advocating for conflict...I've enjoyed my 6.9 weeks of "peace" since leaving Afghanistan in such dramatic fashion (but not Iraq/Syria/Africa/etc).
  10. I'll be impressed if they rebuild the one from this latest incident: Source: https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/fighter-aircraft-crashes-while-on-routine-mission-near-luke-air-force-base-officials-say Glad the pilot got out though.
  11. Just curious what has soured you at SWA?

    Isla Fisher for scale.
  13. Question: Why would you not be on terminal in this situation? Because how are you going to go back to your AD job after indoc/sim? Or start flying the line while still in the military?
  14. Update: Back up to $35k. "Additionally, the Air Force is working diligently to further improve the AvB program to meet the needs of both the Air Force and those of its Airmen as the defense and civilian aviation environments continue to evolve. Some significant and positive changes are on the table starting in FY23." Not sure what that means...it's capped at $35k...or at least that is all they are willing to ask for. FY22 AvB Update Letter_final.pdf
  15. I mean...Demi Moore's character quit BUDs in the movie GI Jane and still ended up graduating...so it only makes sense.
  16. Copy. What's scary is it seems like a realistic thing the brass would try.
  17. Wait...Seriously? Is that really a COA they are pursuing or is this speculation/sarcasm? I know a lot of different programs are bringing back ADSC's (TPS, WIC, 89th, etc) but that's the first I've heard of upgrades.
  18. Well, I swore I wouldn't get it on a weekend and instead get free days off work...but here I am. 2x Moderna (no booster, been too busy to be DNIF 2 days) and I wear a surgical most of the time but still go out to bars, restaurants, and have a social life. Everyone enjoy their NYE! I'm gonna save a bunch of money and calories by staying in I guess. 😷 Symptoms: cold, achy bones. Otherwise nothing significantly worse than the flu at this time.

Spiderman No Way Home: Really good. Would suggest seeing in theaters. Matrix Resurrections: They should have left the series dead and not brought it back. Entertaining...maybe. Overall meh. Seemed like a cross of Free Guy (sans humor)/Ready Player 1 with John Wick, but worse. Their quest to bring back characters confused me also. How did Morpheus end up in it? I don't get that since everyone else was either a human or a program. And, to not spoil it, the main bad guy didn't seem very much like a computer program. Very human/humorous dialogue for an "analyst."

  21. Just dancing faces...I hope. Never know with the internet these days though.

  23. Why is it that aliens can figure out how to travel across many millions of miles, over how many thousands of years, through an extremely dangerous and complicated environment...and they always fuck up the landing?
  24. Not saying the other 5 commanders weren't turds...but at any point is someone (leadership) going to look at the bigger picture here and ask WHY this happening so frequently?
  25. So nobody cares that Biden is limiting flights from South Africa? It's only racist/xenophobic when Trump does it, right? https://thehill.com/policy/international/africa/583204-us-to-restrict-travel-from-south-africa-and-seven-other-countries
