Hi, Could someone tell me the minimum runway length a KC-135R needs for a landing at an away base for an airshow? Thanks.

I was wondering if anyone knows if after completing PIQ at ALTUS if I am able to get my 707 type rating. After UPT my whole T-1 class was given a BE-400 type rating. I called my local FSDO today and they said I had to be a AC with at least ten hrs in the left seat as a functioning AC in order to get typed. If thats true then how come another FSDO is giving T-1 studs a type after UPT. Im going to try to call another FSDO that is closer to my unit and see what they say. Thanks for any feedback.

KC-46 boom severed, hoist cable snapped during AR with F-15 over CA causing the KC-46 to land with half its boom in trail at Travis AFB and F-15 to divert.

From the searching I've done on this forum, I've noticed a trend. "Good family life" tends to be associated with the KC10, and "gone all the time" seems to be associated with the C17. Can anybody confirm or deny this observation? Thanks in advance.

Just a new pilot musing here, but why wouldn’t the Pegasus have some form of winglets or raked wing tips? Although they would probably add some weight and development costs, it’s been done before on 767s and seems to be a cost-effective measure to increase fuel efficiency on all kinds of commercial aircraft. Given the thousands of hours these aircraft will fly, wouldn’t the extra cost be recouped in fuel saved quite easily? Is there something I’m missing here? Appreciate any input.

This is a question I've always had: I know a guy who is a retired Air Force pilot. He has his old helmet (complete with oxygen mask) on display in his office. Does the Air Force typically allow you to keep your helmet or at least let you buy it or is this not done anymore?

I'm a few weeks away from receiving my UPT assignment and have found out we have the opportunity to put down a preference for our FTU location after IFF. I've been unable to find anyone at my squadron who's spent any time at the Guard FTU in Klamath Falls, and was hoping I could get some first hand information from some of the guys on this board. Is that part of Oregon a nice place to live for the 6-9 months you'll be there? How does it compare to the "Redneck Riviera" that is Panama City? Appreciate the info.

Anyone on here been to Northwest Arkansas Regional? I'm thinking it would be a Vance-type person or perhaps from Little Rock. The reason I ask....I'm trying to go there on an out-n-back (my bro goes to school there) but as far as I can tell they don't have a UHF freq for their tower. Yes, some of us still fly a/c that only have a single, UHF radio. Can anyone confirm/deny this? The reason I think it might be a Vance person is b/c they have a volume-training letter of agreement with Vance....so maybe its just for T-1s?

A PowerPoint brief from AFPC trickled down to us junior folks today regarding the number of rated officers in the AF and the various "bills" that AFPC needs to pay with our warm bodies. The bottom line of the brief was that going to staff was probably not going to be in the cards for the vast majority of folks as due to the number of other obligations (UAS, ALO, RAS, etc, etc) that take priority. I don't really have a dog in the fight as to what these priorities are, but I could help but wonder what happens to these staffs without the rated people.
