Am I reading this right? AF will no longer move your family when they tag you for a 365? zb https://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123307526 6/26/2012 - WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- Air Force officials announced a change to transportation and travel allowances for Airmen tasked with 365-day extended deployments, commonly referred to as an indeterminate TDY. Effective July 1, the Air Force will no longer refer to a 365-day extended deployment as an ITDY since there are definitive TDY tour lengths, officials explained. The policy change will better align the Air Force with the Joint Federal Travel Regulation guidelines regarding ITDYs. Previously, Airmen tasked…

I would really like to get a local chapter of Women in Aviation International up and running in San Antonio (the only other WAI chapters in TX are in Dallas and Houston). To do so, we would need at least 10 WAI members in the greater SA area. Also, does anyone know of any other aviation-related websites where I'll have a chance of reaching potential members in the SA area? Thanks, VCQ

I want to start the exercises but I need further explanations. My issues are concerned about the position of the elbows, hands and shoulders during push-ups. The issues about the starting position. In the starting position, are my shoulders, elbows and hands in the same vertical line? If the answer is yes, that means that the distance between my hands is the same as the distance between my shoulders. If not, that could mean the distance between my hands is bigger than the distance between my shoulders. It could mean also that the line that would link my shoulders is behind the line that would link my hands. Is this right? The issues about the final position. In the f…

Hey guys, Goto Postgazette.com right now ( a pittsburgh newspaper website) and they have a photo on their front page of a "former" marine. Am I the only one finding something strange with his uniform?

If someone wants to post up the link from the AF Times, but they're finally doing something about the worst placed sewage ponds in the world. Over the years I've logged over a year and a half smelling that crap at Kandahar! Finally fixing it hopefully.

My wife has a job opportunity that is too good to pass up back in the city we moved to our current base from. I posed the Tricare question to my local office and they were, let's just say, less than convincing they knew much about the benefits. My wife and I have no children. Does anyone have experience with Tricare when your spouse lives 2000 miles away from you? Are there any "gotcha's" with her coverage since she wouldn't reside with me? I plan to relocate back to said city when my ADSC expires in 18 months (hoping for the Reserves).

Is it possible? I've heard some people say it's definitely possible and others say don't bother until you're within 1 year of your ADSC.

Had a question about cross flowing. I know we can go to other AMC platforms once we are in AMC, but can we cross flow to other platforms outside of AMC? Also, if we flew T-38s in UPT, are we allowed to go to a fighter or would it be easier? Get re-spun up on the -38, go to IFF, then RTU? Just curious if anyone has heard of someone doing this before. Only things that come to mind is either going to the U-2 or B-2. Thanks.

Once upon a time a pilot found a beautiful princess and asked her, "Will you marry me?" The princess said, "No!" And the pilot lived happily ever after and flew jets all over the world and drove hot cars and chased skinny long-legged big-breasted flight attendants and hunted and fished and went to topless bars and dated women half his age and drank Weihenstephaner German beer and Captain Morgan and never heard bitching and never paid child support or alimony and kept his house and guns and ate cold leftover meals, potato chips and beans and blew enormous farts and never got cheated on while he was at work and all his friends and family thought he was frickin' cool as…

Recently, I had an interesting discussion with a future OG regarding the future of the Air Force, in general. It should be known that this guy is a career fighter pilot. His philosophy is this: in order to take back our Air Force, we have to be willing to play it's game. He argues that too many aviators are shying away from staff jobs that will help them become the generals of the future. He sees too many current senior officers taking non-rated dudes on their staffs because the SO can't get any aviators to join the staff. The future OG notes that one indication of the aviator losing his foothold in command positions is the creation of the maintenance group. Soon,…

Heard today that the 6th will be losing its FID mission. Sad if it's true, very unique capability just never seemed to fit.

Considering the discussions on the course at the JFSC and the kid getting all bent out of shape about not being allowed to wear the flag, I figured this deserved its own thread. Summary: the SQ had been the Crusaders for 50 years, changed to the Werewolves over concern that pictures of Crusaders wouldn't win hearts and minds, changed back to the Crusaders, then back to the Werewolves. https://usnews.msnbc....back-again?lite

Today, AFPC released the results of the RPA Crossflow Board. Our WG/CC will discuss the actual numbers with us tomorrow. But I know of at least one dude who has been released back to AMC for a move in FY12. I do know that it was only about 10% that were released out of the 500+ eligible.
