From the early 1960s to the early 1990s, AF UPT consisted of a 1 track system of T-37/T-38. Helo only training from 1971 to the early 1990s. In the 1980s the military was focus on Jointness between the services. The AF decided on the Naval track system in which you could have exchange student pilots in the early 1990s. I was informed the days of the exchange program for flight students is in the history books. That being the case, should the AF return to the 1 track system regardless of EXPENSE in the T-6A/T-38C or future T-6A/T-7A? What is your opinion?

I am on the path to a good and rewarding career, but for the past year I have been debating dropping everything I am doing and try to get hired by a unit. Had a talk with a couple of fighter pilots and told me that it is only worth it if I can't see myself doing anything else. The adult me says that I should stick with the medical field career I am pursing, save up for an aerobatics plane and go cloud surfing when I want, and I would also have the time to do other things, travel, go camping, just do nothing. But the 20 year old me says tomorrow is never promised, why not go cloud surfing in the best aircrafts ever created and get paid for it, travel, drop some bombs…

Can anyone say with any authority how much having a type rating helps when interviewing for an airline? Before I drop 6-9 thousand on a B737 or A320 when there is a good chance I may not be assigned to said type, does it really add that much to my military background in Strike Eagles?

Just an opinion question here. Do you think MX is inadvertently torpedoing efforts to modernize and upgrade older aircraft by reporting a higher than actual mission capable rate? Not to take anything away from MX, those guys are miracle workers; however, from a bystander's perspective, it seems like it is a lot harder to pitch "we need new engines" when on paper your aircraft is reporting an 80-100% mission capable rate. The obvious retort to the request for new engines then becomes "well, if your airplane is functioning so well, why do we need to spend the money on new engines?" I have a strictly ops oriented point of view, with no real grounds in MX or acquisiti…

I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything new on this topic? Rumor mill says that the avionics upgrade package got declined (which will lead into the KC-10 not being able to fly in Europe past 2015), so I did not know if that was the nail in the coffin, or if that was just bullshit. No offense to -135's, but the -10 is WAY better in terms of multi-role tanker / cargo jet. It'd be retarded for them to cut the -10, AND the -46 won't be able to the same amount of work as one -10 can. Thoughts / opinions / comments? Thanks

I had heard from a T-1 Bud who went to the retirement event at RND that the T-1 is gone from all UPT bases (not counting the CSO training) A few old friends don’t beleive this is the case.

I found an interesting article that shows the poor funding US has ran into for the fundings of the F-35 and F-22. It touches on how the F-16 and F-15's are in some situations not usable for battle and more than the "ok" amount would be lost. I find it interesting how it talks about we will fall below the estimated "safe" amount of fighter jets to have on hand around 2013. It also touches on how are goal of over 200 F-22's a year was cut short by the Bush administration because of the wars in the middle east. Idk... just check it out. Post your opinion. I'm interested on some outside opinions rather then of those in the article. https://www.airforce-magazine.com…

I'm currently at a well known undisclosed location close to the AG. All of the chow halls do ethnic food nights on any given day of the week; Monday=Taco Bar, Tuesday=Gyros, Friday=Pasta, etc... At the chow hall closest to ops someone has put up a white board welcoming people to the chow hall and then letting people know the menu of the day. No problem except recently there are drawings to accompany the ethnic menu nights. Taco Monday has included a Speedy Gonzalez and a luchadore mask. Italian Friday had Mario and Luigi with the words "you'sa welcoma to our-a Pasta night-a" and just yesterday the Curry bar had a picture of the Taj Mahal with the classic Apu/7-11 …

This is what happens when your government becomes rotten at the core. Your military services lose faith. Today, another 10,000 Israeli reservists announced they'll join the hundreds of Air Force pilots and quit. We had better start paying more attention to domestic issues in the US. “We’ve got to fight for a country that our children will want to live in,” they said, opposing “a leadership with unbridled power and an extreme agenda.” Many reservists have been warning in recent months they will not be able to serve in an undemocratic Israel, which some charge the country will become if the government’s overhaul plans are realized. “Legislati…

While everyone has their panties in a wad arguing about Trump and Russia, the Syrians just shot down an Israeli Viper...Massive response launched. The plane made it back to Israeli territory before it crashed, the pilots was recovered and taken to the hospital, one in serious condition. Another Iranian Drone launched from Syrian entered Israel...this could get ugly.

I'm going to be doing supt with the Air Force very soon, and as I'm not in the AF, I have a question that I hope ya'll could answer. I was issued my HGU-68 TACAIR helmet the other day, solid dark green overall, yada yada yada. The question I have is when non-Air Force types do supt with you all, do your PR's put white reflective tape on them for us, or will we typically go without until advanced? The reason I ask is because I know the AF doesn't use reflective tape, and the primary VT's for the Navy tape them up for everyone else the first week or so of Primary, hence my question. What has everyone here seen? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have first-hand knowledge of any Aircrew people being issued Glock 19's? I have a buddy (retired Sec. Forces CATM) that heard that aircrew people were being issued Glocks, instead of the usual POS M-9's. Both of us thought that sounded strange (knowing how much drama is involved in getting people qualified normally, let alone on a whole new weapon), just wondering if anyone else had heard of such a thing.

It's official, OCPs are coming. 2-piece flight suits for non-ejection seat aircraft and it sounds like they are going to eventually test the 2-piece flight suit for ejection seat aircraft down the road. https://www.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/1520066/air-force-transitions-to-a-single-combat-uniform/

I finally read about the conspiracy theory on this exercise, other than imposing martial law on Texas to pave the way for theft of precious bodily fluids and prepare the population for mass brainwashing, what's the big deal? OPSEC considered, is anybody here going to support this LFE? Ok, Wolverines...
