    I've gotten a few letters from a flying club in the local area. I'm wondering if this seems like a good deal to you. A C-172 rents for $80/hour (roughly) in this area so in my mind I'd only have to fly 1 hour a month to break even. $1000 up-front to buy a 1/36th share in the club (which can be resold later) $40/month dues C-150 - $39/hour wet C-172 - $52/hour wet Citabria - $49/hour wet

    For those of you who have flown the Tweet... About how many rides until you were proficient and comfortable flying the Tweet? (basic aircraft control, keeping in your area and all radio work, etc...? I've been flying for a couple of weeks now and some basic aspects of it all are still kicking my ass. I'm sure I'll be fine - just wondering about others...

    One of my biggest gripes with UPT is that I have only two rides [EDIT:] in Phase Two [/EDIT] to teach the student "everything he/she needs to know" about flying VFR. We military pilots love to brag about how much better we are than most of the civilian flying world, but god help me when I tell another pilot that I didn't "back-up" the VFR flight plan on the GPS. If you made it back without incident, your check pilot should have gotten a swift kick in the jimmy.

    A couple weeks ago Charleston came out with a new policy that requires the following when flying with WG & OG leadership: - Crew BIOs submitted in advance. - AC and SQ/CC brief flight (local or mission) profile to the WG/CC or OG/CC three days prior. - AC meets/salutes WG/CC or OG/CC at the aircraft door. - No "excessive" FLIP or PRO gear allowed in the cockpit or crew rest area.     Hey gang...new to the forum. Our base is looking for a manufacturer of lighted Follow Me signs that can be installed in the back of standard pick-up trucks. Ours were locally made years ago and are becoming their own FOD hazard. I thought we would find some manufacturers out there with a web search of ground support equipment, but no joy.     Many units are able to keep their UPT graduates on steady Active Duty orders to continue their training requirements while they sit and wait to become fully qualified while in the training pipeline! Recent message from the Guard Bureau states: Those trainees who do not have training scheduled within 30 days of finishing their UPT will be cut off of Active Duty Days due to a BIT or otherwise known as "Break in Training!"   21. Long time reader, first time poster. I'm a non-flyer and will be facing the force shaping board in July. Does anyone with experience with these types of things (firing mass amounts of young captains/Lts....smh) have any idea what factors the board will weigh most heavily when they decide whom to cut? I've done all the qeep (masters/SOS correspondence) and stratted well at the squadron, but there are only three of us in the group and the other two strat higher than me (lots of group/wing-level awards). Curious if I should see the writing on the wall and turn down this short tour assignment that just dropped in my inbox....

    I flew my form 8 and got everything but 2 patterns due to an EP. Landed, did the ground eval got commendable and they tell me they want me to complete the entire checkride again because i didn't get the patterns. Isn't that double jeopardy? I've already completed form 8 events on a form 8 check evaluated by an FE and last I checked an EP does not void a checkride. Shouldn't I just have to get the patterns? Anyone know the reg that deals with checkrides, not the vol 2.
