In the first of what may or may not be a weekly installment of the weirdest thing I heard at JSUPT this week, we have... TFOA - this is filed in lieu of a dropped object report you AF folks may have heard of. Acronym? You guessed it, Things Falling Off Aircraft. Simple and to the point, but somewhat entertaining nonetheless.

I am a Navy veteran, Air Force brat and avid enthusiast for airpower of all branches. I was privelged to serve in the Navy as an enlisted aircrewman in helicopters, and everything I learned there I have applied to how I conduct myself as a civilian and as an airline pilot now. I grew up as a "70's" child looking thru fences, standing on the flightline or riding my bike to the end of the runway. My heroes were all pilots, mostly Air Force at the time. The Viet Nam era was winding down when I started high school, and I recall vividly the POWs returning from North Viet Nam. I read about the F-105 pilots that flew over North Viet Nam, and the obstacles that they faced beyond …

The SQ/CC pulled aside the mayor last week and told him to pass along the WG/CC imposed ROE on songs, stories, and things that would be uttered in the squadron bar. We are to no longer sing songs that have 'girlie bits'. NSTFS - we can no longer preface our songs with "How does every good fighter pilot song start?" I can no longer sing to the world that I love my wife, yes I do, yes I do. Any stories that are told must conform to the same standards. I should hope that this frightening trend does not extend past Seymour Johnson. Please, young SNAPs, continue to sing the beautiful songs of dead whores by the roadside. Hold on to this tradition or soon we will a…

Well I am just starting college and I decided to do my research on becoming an Air Force officer early. After college, I plan to go to law school. After law school, I'll hopefully(God willing) get an OTS slot with a pilot/nav slot upon commissioning. I know it's possible to then do an intraservice transfer to a JAG position after 4 years of AD and before 10 years of AD. I talked to a few AF recruiters about it and they don't know anyone who has done it. Some didn't even know it was possible. Has anyone here done or plan to do such a thing? Any tips or hints in general? Also, being a pilot requires a 10 year commitment(after UPT) and being in JAG requi…

Got this from one of my bros in the 90th up at Elmendorf. Apparently, they've been getting a slew of calls to their Ops Desk from folks in the greater Atlanta area wanting to get in touch with "1Lt Adam Moore" who is selling a vehicle. The vehicle varies with each phone call, but they are insistent that the individual provided an Elmendorf e-mail address (adam.moore@elmendorf.af.mil) in addition to a civilian e-mail, but that they've been unable to reach him via the military e-mail, and their phone calls have gone unanswered. So they make a call to Elmendorf, get the number for the 90th, and ask for this guy, who is not assigned to the 90th. The Dicemen finally got ti…

Just a thought that popped up in my head with the AF being short on pilots and all. I mean, they already have the reserve units at UPT bases which helps but I'm sure there are plenty of qualified pilots out there who wouldn't mind being a civilian flight instructor for T-6s.

At UPT, how often can studs either plan cross-countries to other UPT bases (to see buddies or something) or to bases near their families or something?

Gents-- Approaching a decision in a few short years and wanted to get the correct answers without derailing other threads. I've looked through the separations AFI, and the best I can make of that nightmare of tables and notes is 12 months max time from telling big blue no on an assignment or TDY. I keep hearing about sanctuary at 18 yrs. how does it work? What is the reference/source document? (since if it becomes an issue I will undoubtedly have to learn how to do a personnelist's job in intimate detail)

PC-12 Crash I expect this thread to go something like the rest of them... Some people know details. Nobody can talk about it. Something will be out on SIPR soon. Everyone is glad they are ok. We are reminded to wait until the AIB releases more details. So, does anybody know what happened here? What kind of mission were they flying when they crashed? I keed. But seriously, I'm glad they all survived.

I've been reading a lot on here lately about non-continuation for passed over majors in the flying arena, and this is a topic addressed to the rated community only. I would love to see the reaction and hear the great stories of individuals who choose to be the best in the jet, and forego all the queep. A few questions to consider. - How did this individual affect morale in the squadron, and were they actually credible? - Would they have been better leaders if they had promoted based on flying ability and officership instead of exec strats and PME completion (in-res selection, etc...)? - Would it have been better for these individuals to help "run the company" f…

Because the people who made my TV won't answer my question.... I purchased a Vizio VW37L HDTV20A about a year ago and would like to bring it to Germany with me. I saw on the back that it's 100-240V, 2.5A. Does this mean that my TV is dual voltage and I can use it on the German power system? (with just a cord adapter and not a transformer) Another question on this subject is that of NTSC vs PAL. I know here in the US we use NTSC which is 60Hz, 30 per second, but in Germany they use PAL which is 50Hz, 25 per second. Does the 50/60Hz marking on my TV indicate that I can use it on the PAL system? Anyone here have an idea? I've been searching the net, emailed Viz…

I've heard of some sweet assignments flying C-12's for the State Department in Africa and South America. I know about the remotes to Korea, but that is not what I am interested in. I searched the AFPC website, but found nothing. Anyone know where I can get some gouge, or any good people to talk to?

Good morning all, Board results were just announced and I was one of the unfortunate ones that didn’t make it. Had about 24hrs to soak up this information and I think it’s time for me to start thinking about what’s going to happen next in my life. Here’s some info about my career so far. Commissioned 2015 and went to a non-rated career field. In 2019 I decided to apply for the Late-to-rate boards and got picked up as an early Captain. Currently in a flying unit flying the best MAF aircraft out there (IYKYK). A basic AC with about 1000 total time (UPT/Current MWS). I had an assignment to be an instructor for UPT leaving for PIT in a couple of months, bu…
