The discussion of moving CSAR from ACC to AFSOC is alive and well again at HAF. I am curious what the actual customers of our “insurance policy” think about this move. I would also love to hear from the AFSOC folks in the room if this is actually a mission you want to execute?

Our SQ/CC told us that the CSAR-X will be announced tomorrow, and since there are a number of fellow -60 guys on here figured I'd start a thread about it. General feeling around our squadron is that it will be the -47, which has met with pretty general disapproval.

I heard that instructors can use the planes to fly wherever they want on the weekends.Does anybody know if this is true.

First time post, I searched and didn't see any other threads that were even close to this but if there were and I missed it, I apologize I'm looking for the study, or any information on the background on why we(AF)/the FAA have currency/ recency requirements. I know what the numbers are, and know good and well why we have minimum takeoffs/landings etc. I'm looking for the document that says pilots abilities decrease by x with x amount of time out of the cockpit or something to that effect. thx much

What is the current status with ‘hawg retirement? I have heard various opinions such as they are re-winging all 281 aircraft (implies non of them are going to be retired). I’ve also heard that they’re planning on retiring about 40 or so aircraft, and several of those will be from guard units. Any concrete answers out there? Or is it a constant variable depending on politics and current day events? Fingers crossed they’ll keep all 281 🤞

I'm getting ready to fill out my dream sheet here in a few weeks for the T-1 drop in early July. I know it differs from base to base, but I was wondering if anybody knew a rough estimate of the current ops tempos on the heavy side. If you could throw in specific examples (ie specific base deployment rates) that would help out a bunch. Just want to make an informed decision of what jet I put down and I have a feeling that those out there actually doing the mission could give me more accurate info than the brief we're going to receive from those who have been around the training squadron for a while. I was hanging out at the airport on Tuesday in my AFROTC service dress. It was only 1300 so I couldn't take them off yet. Anyways, two Lt. Cols. walked into the flight school in uniform. I jumped to attention and they both started joking with me. Leaving, re-entering etc. So I was wondering, are you supposed to come to attention if you are not on a military installation when officers enter a room? I did because its better to be safe than sorry, but I was wondering if I should have. :confused:

Hello all, This is more of a "curiosity killed the cat" post, and a post that may have been answered somewhere I cannot find on this forum, so my apologies in advance for the weak searching capabilities. Cutting to the chase, how does CV-22 Osprey assignments happen out of pilot training. I have read that dropping the Osprey only occurs out of the newer HTN training pipeline, but I have also read that you can drop the Osprey from the T-38 and the T-1 through the typical T-6 UPT. Could a UPT grad for example, drop the Osprey from say the T-1 track? I look forward to reading any and all information given, -Random

Anybody out there know what the current story on the Osprey is?I know they are back in testing, saw one flying around Edwards two days ago, but what is their proposed IOC date? If you have got any info I would appreciate it.

I just track selected, Laughlin 08-07, and was chosen to fly UH-1 at Fort Rucker and was wondering if anyone knows the chances in going to CV-22's upon completion? Also, any good advice for what to expect at Rucker would be appreciated too! Thanks!

Just got reclassified cyber (failed the new computer color test at my FC1). Anyone have a current read on the cyber pipeline? The only info I've received from my AFROTC cadre is that it is at Keesler, and info I've scrounged via google is inconsistent. How long is the training? Phases? Content? Is there anything I should be preparing for in the meantime? How long are LTs waiting between commissioning and EAD? What PCS options are there at the end of the pipeline? Any other SA is appreciated
