Squadron Bar

Off-topic discussion. Keep it civil, don't abuse this forum.

Forum Rules

1 – Keep it civil

If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed.  If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.

2 - Listen before you speak

A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."

Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force.  Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.

3 – UTFSF

Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.

4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.

After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"

5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense

This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".

6 – No unpaid advertisements

Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed.  Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum.  For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

  1. Went to the Dos Gringos Wikipedia page today, apparently it was deleted in October because they don't meet Wikipedia's standards for being an artist. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Dos_Gringos "Although these guys have an interesting story, I could not find any reliable sources at all about them. They have an All Music entry, which reveals that all but one of their CDs was self-released, with the exception of one released on the Viper Driver label. I don't think this meets WP:MUSIC standards for inclusion. Deprodded."

Directly related to the 'Deid thread, but it deserves its own. I don't think it's already in there, but I may have missed it somewhere in the 70+ pages. I normally don't join these, but I had to support the cause.

I figured everyone could use a good, light-hearted laugh at the expense of a complete dumbass. https://www.foxnews.c...test=latestnews SEATTLE — Seattle police say a man who thought he was a ninja was impaled on a metal fence when he tried to leap over it. An officer who was looking for an assault victim nearby Monday night heard the man screaming for help. Policesupported him to prevent further injuries until medics arrived and tookhim to a hospital, where he was in serious condition in intensive careon Tuesday. Police spokeswoman Renee Wittwrote in a department Web site posting that officers thought the manmight ha…

Sounds like a giant booze-fueled sex romp... https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2011/04/MONDAYair-force-sexual-relationships-rampant-in-wing-041811w/ and https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2011/04/MONDAY1air-force-ig-details-conduct-botchie-041811w/ I wasn't around during the Air Force of the 70s and 80s, but I imagine this environment was very similar to what took place back then. There has been a lot of this going around lately it seems like...I don't know if it is happening more or big blue is cracking down more, I am guessing it is the latter.

They should, there are more fucking Muslims in France then there are French! But as much as I hate to say it, maybe we can learn something from the French...we can start by pulling our heads out our asses when it comes to putting civil liberties blindly ahead of domestic security. It is not that I am against the former, it is just that no one seems to realize that if you are truly innocent, you have nothing to worry about when it comes to domestic surveillance targeting potential terrorists. I would gladly sacrifice a few of my personal liberties for the greater good of this country...I've already done that my entire adult life! Cheers! M2

Inactivist Party VI. Make Your Voice Heard Marching is for filthy hippies, writing your representatives is for toadies, and volunteerism is for college students seeking political-science credits. The only correct action is to complain about whatever bothers you, insistently and repeatedly, on internet message boards. And, as a member of the Inactivist Party, there is one main issue that you should focus on above all others: How society is filled with a bunch of whiners who never shut up.

  15. A flight carrying the Auburn basketball team had to declare an emergency after a fight between player broke out while airborne. One player was "bloodied." The initial report was "roughhousing got out of hand." The message forums are hilarious saying it was the result of a three way love triangle where two of the players were hooking up with each and one got caught with another dude. Whatever happened mist have been quite a brawl to declare an IFE and ask for police to be waiting when you land.

Tonight, 10pm EDT on National Geographic channel is a 6 part documentary on CSAR, specifically PJ's, but you get a look at the whole operation. I figured to plug it, I'd start a new topic. Mods can delete it whenever they want as long they're nice and wait a few days so people can get the info.

Bartender, a round of beers on me! Hello all, wanted to post an intro and the bar seemed like a good place to start! I was a member here before, but I can't find my old account info. I am CH 47 pilot currently deployed to the Iraqi Theater. I used to be in the Air Force as an enlisted man, and I crossed over to fly as a warrant. Thanks for having me, and bottoms up! (Man I do miss my beer...)

  22. After maxing-out Roth IRA's and placing a small mint in TSP, the wife and I are wondering where else could investment money go? Ideas out of ordinary? Heard these: Rental house, raw gold before in case of economic collapse, weekly stock trading, savings deposit program, bullets & assault rifles, lottery tickets We've also gleamed some info from previous threads on the Roth, SDP, and TSP. But haven't seen any good direct comparisons of those common methods or much beyond those common methods. What about a small side-business? Or something else? What is something different you all have heard/seen active duty do as an financial investment outside the norms?

Who has switched from iPhone to Android lately? I’m thinking of making the jump to a Samsung b/c they just seem better. I get it, no iMessage, but who really pays for texts anymore. Specifically the Samsung S9+, maybe the Pixel 2 or 3. The next question will be stock Android apps or the Samsung skinned ones? Apple just seems so limiting, thoughts?
