  3. Those are rookie numbers!
  4. If that's not a real designation, it should be. Think I made it to Oregon only few times, spent 98% of my time hunting. 'Oh, I have space for two pounds of meat, I'd better go shoot a dozen animals.' Designation should be official if you ever powered on the Commodore 64 and then left to go play tag for 15 minutes while it booted up.
  5. AGR-20 has been one of the best weapons we’ve produced in a long time.
  6. They have been employed on most fighters in the fleet now.
  7. Only if you live with bqzip's mom. She calls me the fireman. I turn the hoes on.
  8. Bothe the War Zone and the Mover and Gronky show report an A-10 sporting two drone kills on its nose. The kills were allegedly performed by APKWS II 2.75” (70mm) laser guided rockets. If true this offers a much more cost effective alternative to shooting down drones.
  9. Sorry you feel that way. Unlike many internet boards, my sense is here we have a minimum starting respect for each other based on our shared experience as mil aviators. I trade barbs with others about ideas, but I think if you were walking by my house & it was on fire you'd probably help. I would for you. That's a LOT better than much of the political discourse nowadays; so if someone is constantly pissed it's not bad to mention it & wish them the best. Cheers

  11. Curious how you missed the rest of the mission sets listed that we currently do with 707 or similar massive footprint aircraft. Yeah having one boom to rule them all or a massive grey tail disgorging masses of equipment is great, it also means you need a Ramp the size of multiple football fields and buildings that can be seen from space. In an age of democratized information collection, near real time targeting, and the proliferation of ways to go kinetic from ballistic missiles to things that fit in a back pack, maybe having a giant grey airplane isn’t the sole way we should be fighting. If an opponent like China is willing to get caught sticking stuff in our critical infrastructure that can only serve as a lever to pull in a big war fight, does anybody honestly believe they would avoid hitting things like Honolulu or JBLM with a sleeper capability. 12. Same bro, the condescension from you is palpable.
  13. AF is currently progged to buy Bombardier bizjets to replace C-146 NSav.
  14. Curious how you aerial refuel bombers, airlift, and consolidate into other tankers without being an airliner sized aircraft and still having the ability to give a 40K+ offload?
  15. If we’re serious about disaggregating formations to provide for Survivability, it would make loads more sense to start using things that can be hidden more easily than an airliner sized aircraft. Let alone discuss what that buys in flexibility of ramp space. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Yeah I should’ve caveated that I guess the C-37 is what they wanna replace / supplement My druthers… a new large cabin jet converted for mil use needs to be the basis for a tanker, arsenal, awacs, medivac, vip transport I think a small airliner would work better for all that but just my two cents Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Paywall. But, of topic, I'm curious what VIP aircraft it is aiming to replace...

  20. Considering our "nationalized" federal government is closed for business, I am not too sure an easy fix will be that easy or effective.
  21. Bro I have to ask, are you this unpleasant in real life conversation? I've never seen anything but an angry rant from you. Sincerely I wish you the best.
  22. You poor thing, your life must be so miserable, I truly feel bad for you. In other news, Billy Napier finally got the boot. Florida fires Billy Napier, who becomes first Gators coach with losing record since 1940s
  23. If Trump does something I like, I say it, if not, I say I don’t like it just the same. As for privatizing vs government employee…as we are seeing, it’s a much, much easier to adjust the numbers with a contract employees vs government employees. Just one example, which is all I need since the discussion is on shrinking the size of the federal workforce. As for safety, was I trained more poorly with sim instructors who were contractors vs GS employees? Was my life more at risk when I was flown on a rotator by a contracted company vs on a military jet?
  24. Outstanding! I formally request a quibbling emoji. You know, TDS goes both ways, as in one so deranged by Trump love, you can't think rationally or objectively anymore. As for the topic, what are the benefits of a privatized ATC vs GS employees? Wouldn't it cost more because now someone is now making profit? OK, so ban profits. Now that CEO writes his contract to make $5M. Does said private company have the same oversight and obligation to the FAA/Congress on accountability? Would said company have free reign to set fees, charge more for foreign carriers, cut services to some class D muni, etc? Would that mean no taxpayer funds, thus driving up ticket prices? Would my taxes go down? (I already know thats a fat No). How do you charge that Cirrus doing 30 T/Gs for training? What about the soon to be electrics? They don't buy gas, so how do they pay to play? Do pilots pay by the landing or the vector? Would this drive more VFR flying to not talk to ATC/file a flight plan? Can ATC still give a pilot a ph number to call or is more like a security guard pulling you over for speeding? Most importantly, what effect will this have on safety. And this is stuff off the top of my head. My point is, some things need to be govt, especially items that serve a broad public. While it doesn't mean it can't work, waiving your hand and saying privatize it doesn't equal lower costs to the tax payers.
  25. Well, I am a mod…and your post (like most your others) are noted. Good luck with that TDS.
  26. No…I’m willing to cut some positions, and then privatize even fewer of the ones cut. ATC is needed, just like airport security, but it doesn’t necessarily need to be government employees. National Park employees (as an example)…we can cut some of those and also don’t need to privatize the ones we cut.
