  3. The damage "experts" like Fauci have done to the credibility of the government in general and expert opinion is vast and will be a wickedly hard problem to correct.

  5. Not directly related to your post but I wanted to point out that as all deployed locations move away from the reflective belt insanity of last decade, there has been no epidemic of people being hit by cars. No passengers mowed down by fuel trucks on the flight line, no one hit by a car walking to chow. In fact it looks like the entire justification for the authoritarian reflective belt polices and enforcement is total bunk. Time has proven that generation of leadership as completely wrong in their risk assessment. Every O-6 who sent chiefs hunting aircrew without reflective belts really was a total moron like we all thought; safeguarding us from a theoretical but overblown threat, and making life miserable for no good reason at all. It was all bullshit from the get go, and they were all idiots at implementation. One day we’ll look back at this mask phase with the same conclusion. Why can’t smarter people lead?

  6. An Illinois county that he doesn't even represent voted to censure him. Which shows how seriously we should take county party organizations. Maybe the 4H club two counties over will censure him next! It's refreshing to see a true conservative refuse to go down with the ship. He also won his district by a substantially higher margin that did Trump, so his constituency is clearly well represented. I hope he's the future of the party. If not, God help us all.

  8. Reminds me of when I log a pay card, just to log pay cards. What used to take less than a minute, has turned into a 15-20 minutes minimum, IF the network is running good. It was bad enough at one point that one of our pilots wouldn't start his debrief until he successfully logged his pay card. Either way, he left work at the same time.

  10. Oh don’t worry, we are still F’ing with soldiers at unprecedented levels. For instance “quarantine” in a literal warehouse during movement to theatre with no food/showers/etc for 36 hours waiting on the C-17... the crew was in the hotel at Rammstein. Hooray we prevented COVID or something. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  11. I think some aspect of the moronic adherence to wearing glow belts stemmed from the Army's example. As I understand it, glow belts were first a thing at the Army locations (i.e. Bagram, Kabul, etc.) and metastisized to elsewhere. That is not to excuse AF leadership for following the Army's lead, though. My assignment at an Army post and working with Army folks now convinces me that no one can perform the moronic quite like the Army.

  12. To be fair, there is a pretty massive difference between saying you are going to boycott a product, service, person, sports league, etc.. (even if some of the reasoning seems silly or ridiculous) by not buying or partaking in what they are offering; vs a concerted effort to smear and ultimately remove and destroy a person, business, idea, symbol, tv show, book, movie, etc... Example: I personally do not watch a second of NBA basketball and have not for years now. My reasoning is based not only on the ridiculous woke, political, and pro Chinese crap the league has spouted in recent history, but also the fact that it’s absolutely garbage basketball. However, my choice to not watch is my own and I don’t give a shit if someone else absolutely loves to watch the NBA, that’s their choice and they have every right to do so. By choosing not to watch, I don’t have to see the stuff I don’t like (imagine that!) and if enough people ultimately start to feel like I do, it will hurt the league in its pocketbook and they may actually make a change that adjusts to the demands of their customers. Which btw, actually seems to have happened with the NBA when their ratings went in the absolute toilet last year, and magically this year they’ve reduced a large amount of their political messaging. Maybe the next move they can make is raising the shot clock to 30 seconds and making them play defense. I digress... What you won’t see me doing is throwing a temper tantrum through social media and interviews on CNN about how the NBA doesn’t prescribe to my cultural norms and needs to be removed from the face of the earth, damn the rest of you!

  13. Plus the guidance that you'll still be expected to quarantine if you are exposed even after the vaccine. And they're still quarantining troops prior to deployments, even with 100% vaccination AND the virus already established at the destination. Tough to think of a better example of the brass doing something that actively hurts the military members and the mission simply so they can say 'look! we're doing something'.

  15. Probably right, but then you also have the CDC telling people they need to keep wearing masks and social distancing even if they've had the vaccine. I still plan on getting one... but they certainly aren't offering a lot of incentives to people on the fence by saying nothing will change if you get vaccinated.

  17. Adam is a great American and I hope he wins another term. He has done a LOT behind the scenes to help the men and women who serve....many of you on this forum have benefited from his efforts and don't even know it. He was right to vote his conscience and stand on his principle.

  20. So much disagree with this post... I wish more people would read the Federalist Papers and the reasoning and logic behind what the framers built in the Constitution. They had a longer view of government based on history and study of the great philosophers like Locke, Plato and Socrates. They understood the extremes and challenges as presented by Machiavelli. They were great thinkers and did not resolve every concept to a 30 second sound bite. One thing is certain, the framers in an attempt to build a "more perfect union" wanted their to be debate, discussion, consensus. They did not want rapid change or Crazy Ivan's that reacted to public opinion. Time as a function of legislation served to let tempers cool and logic persist. The filibuster serves that purpose along with many others. Going to a simply majority in the name of timely legislation is a gross misunderstanding of what our system is supposed to be. Again, SLOW change, build on logic and consensus. That was the intent of America.

  21. The same guys who ironed fishing line into their BDU sleeves, cut off buttons to sew down their pockets and put weights in their bloused pants are the likely the same people now writing the AFI. Goodluck!

  22. Don't know him personally or professionally as I'm not in his district, hope he's an ok guy in person and will accept those testimonials about the many things he's done for service folk. Appreciate that. However, his constituents, the ones he's elected to represent seem to disagree with his stance rather strongly to include at least one county, I believe two but stand to be corrected, GOP committee censuring him for his vote to impeach Trump. The one county I am aware of is LaSalle County which is part of his district. Other county so censuring Iroquois which is also within this district. His choice to roll the dice to see if they either forget by next election or whether his district gets dissolved by the Illinois legislature as is likely if the state loses a congressional seat due to redistricting. I do take issue with his vote to strip the bat-sh1t crazy Georgia congresswoman of all her committee assignments. He helped deny her constituents their effective representation that they knowingly elected her to. As always in politics, IMO, it's a case of follow the money. His just started anti-Trump PAC combined with his many appearances on liberal media looks like a way to set up a comfy post-congressional lifestyle, either via K Street and/or TV gigs. Don't blame him a bit but it just strikes me as the B-model Scarborough. edited to add the specific counties which is in the district being discussed.
