In general, I'm strongly against "political signaling" by way of military action, but in this case, I'd say it was used appropriately.  Doesn't feel like they actually thought through the second and third order effects though. 

I feel like Tom Clancy already wrote this this story line...but @uhhello beat me to it...

The American forces opened fire, killing all those aboard the small fishing vessel...".  Well, coming from Reuters and the New York Times and "Citing unidentified sources...", I'm not convinced.  Also, sounds a little sloppy for SEALs to "splash" ashore.

It's less gross than what Pritzker is doing. And that's not a joke. So far this year, nearly 300 people have been killed in Chicago. And while that number is "down," I find it deeply cynical for people like him who prefer to survey the mayhem and rule in hell while attempting to deflect attention from their utter and total failure as the responsible parties, instead pointing to a cartoon depiction of Trump as the "real problem."

I'm sure when your average south Chicagoan heads out of their hooch tonight to grab whatever they need for dinner, or the family, or whatever, that person will be far more worried about the likely criminal who isn't in jail vs. some made up concern about a meme. And that points at the real, underlying dynamic at work - not a tasteless meme. That's (one of) Trump's secret weapons he uses against the Left. The point of memes like this is that Trump can point at something true - that Chicago is a wasteland - and the dems will expose their galling lack of empathy for the people who are actually suffering by scapegoating him. He is their ultimate totem. Their panacea to every ill. That's the root of TDS. A less cynical question you might consider is what crime has the national guard committed? If you can't think of one, I submit, you too, are suffering from TDS...because it's not Trump patrolling the streets of Chicago, himself. Right?

But getting upset at cartoons is one of those things that the left has an absolute lock on. So posts like this are right on brand. It's identical in form to January 6th. Call it an insurrection. Call it WAR on Chicago. Cook your narrative soup at any temperature you like. I won't have any. The bottom line is that NONE of what the national guard has been called in to do has been illegal, or could even be considered problematic.

Imagine living in a crime-ridden city and your governor is more concerned about this than about your public safety...ehh, I digress. Whatever.

Let’s be honest, democrats don’t care about Chicago and other once great cities that have become shitteholes because it’s mostly black Americans killing other black Americans. If the murder rate significantly increases in white and areas where politicians live, it’ll be more important. They’ll still yell “racism”, but they’ll start to care when their lives are in imminent danger.

Is it a provocative tweet...absolutely, and intentionally so.  It forces the Democrats to continue defending the wrong side of an 80-20 issue to most people on the streets in big cities run by Democrats over the last century.

It's curious how the last 2x times the Trump 2.0 sent in troops, in Los Angeles and D.C., Karen Bass and the LA City Council, Gavin Newsom and the CA Congress, and Muriel Bowser and the D.C. City Council, all remained in power and continue to this day in D.C. to exercise their rights and responsibilities as the duly and freely elected civilian government.

I mean, if Trump wanted a takeover, he would physically remove the government and install a puppet local government,  ala Iraq in 2004 under G. W. Bush in the immediate post-OIF op.

I think Johnson and the fat billionaire Pritzker will be physically ok as their lie of "what else could we do?" is exposed against crime.  Emotionally, they'll be slaughtered, but physically, they and their families will be fine.

This experiment in freedom didn't turn to shit just because G. H. W. Bush, Lyndon Johnson, JFK, Eisenhower, Woodrow Wilson, Grover Cleveland, Hayes, Grant, Lincoln, or Jackson sent in federal troops to local municipalities since 1807...lots of precedence in support of it.

Until there's a direct and actual threat against elected governments, I'm less than concerned about troops moving in.

I get it, another renaming of a department so someone can put their name on something and say "hey, I did that!" I don't disagree this is exhausting in and of itself.

However, I think a change of mentality is needed. Everyone is telling us to prepare for war, and they're even throwing out dates. Yet, at all echelons no one seems to be acting accordingly. If that's really what we're collectively supposed to be focused on then we need to get in the right mental state.

Is a name change going to do that, no. If the name change is backed by actual action, forcing people to make decisions at all levels w.r.t that end goal, then I agree. We need to get on the same page as a military.

Chicago's last GOP mayor was in 1931, Big Jim Thomson, I enlisted in Chicago in 1980 in the southwest side Mount Greenwood where the majority of Cops and Firemen live my cousin being one of them. I went to two of High School reunions there and both times it gets worse from the economic downturn I see in the old neighborhood. The progressive politicians whose base is on the Chicago's north shore white affluent liberals keep electing even more out of touch Democrats who are running the place into the ground. I bet if Da Mayor old Richard J Daley was still alive, they would consider him a Republican. It still makes me tear up when our class president was murdered by 3 POS's from the west side because she couldn't open the safe at our local McDonalds in 79. The trigger man is still doing hard time for it, today he would have beat the rap due to the Cook County DA being hyper liberal.
