  1. You're right, landing (on the right runway) with two out of the 3 gear is a win in the 17 community.

  2. Highest employment numbers for Americans. (with whatever hyphen you might want to add) EVER. RECORDED. You can argue that the rich made money but the rich always will and people who were making ZERO money were making dollars.

  3. This morning, I waited 1.5 hours outside in the rain, in a line that stretched around the courthouse to vote early. No one in line was wearing political gear, but many were wearing red. Around the town square, people were in chairs under umbrellas holding Trump signs while the passing traffic honked, gave thumbs up, etc. I got inside, got my ballot from the clerk who said it had been like this for days. ( I know, I stopped by two other days last week and the line was too long). As I'm voting, the clerk explains to the 50-60 year old man immediately behind me that he could vote a straight ticket if he wanted. He said "What's that mean? I'm sorry, I've never voted before." That's just my little corner of the world, but I have never ever seen anything like it, and neither had anyone around me in line I was talking to. I do agree with your point about the economy. We're f'd six ways from Sunday. We're in a false recovery. Whoever is POTUS will have one of the biggest economic meltdowns ever on their watch.

  4. Do you honestly think there is ANYONE left in this country who hasn't had their mind made up and then some? Trump could shoot someone in the street and his base wouldn't care. Biden could be found feeding pigeons in Central Park not knowing who he is and his base wouldn't care at this point.

  5. Ok. Well you’re missing out on some pretty funny bias compared to what 60 min aired

  8. Let me get this straight. You're turned off by people lying to your face and simultaneously you're sure that your vote is going to a person who, if they played a character in a Hollywood movie meant to be a pathological liar, you'd complain that their rendition was too cartoonish and over-the-top? Welp, I guess you've got that all sewn up.

  9. This could go in the other thread but the AF did give me, average joe, non shiny penny, IDE via correspondence only a shot at running a squadron a few months back. So far so good. And for the record you have no idea until you take that guidon what it truly is like.

  11. Rallies aren’t a good example my friend. The fanatics are the ones that go to Trump rallies, so that’s not anymore enthusiasm than normal. I’ll eat crow if this comes out and is all verified. Like I said before, it wouldn’t surprise me, but everyone acting like Trump et al is biding his time to release these bombshells is ignoring the fact that Trump has never been able to sit patiently and wait. Don’t act like he listens to his people either because that isn’t true. Everyone claiming some vast media conspiracy sounds just a little tin foil hat, but whatever. Could all be very true. The counterpoints to those arguments have been made, I can’t make you believe them. As for the economy, Look at the numbers, economy was basically a wash between the questions of who did it better, and it is incredibly disingenuous of Trump to claim the greatest economy in our history. Clinton, Reagan and Johnson’s were better. Republicans/conservatives (myself included in a distant past) like to claim trickle down economics when things don’t go their way, but ignore it when they look good. By that logic, Obama turned the economy around after the recession and Trump continued to benefit from the Obama admin’s actions. I’m not saying that is, in fact, what happened, just pointing out more hypocrisy. Also, to say we’re on a trend towards economic recovery is ridiculous. Who’s doing better? Middle class? Nope, the poor? Nope. The rich? Yep, they’ve made a killing during the pandemic, and are continuing to do so. All while there are hundreds of thousands of households freaking out for when eviction moratoriums end. Let’s not ignore the 2nd and 3rd order effects of all the poor communities that didn’t have the money to continue college from home during quarantine, and how many generations that will take to recover. To say otherwise, would seem to intentionally ignore the facts. So, if your measuring stick is the rich, ok, yep, they’re better than ever... Sorry if that is disjointed. I’m in a rush... 12. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2020/10/27/biden-becoming-president-not-make-everything-suddenly-normal-column/6042756002/ Screw both Trump and Biden. It’s up to us as individuals to stop treating the other side as if they were some kind of fully-functioning mentally challenged person simply because we disagree with their ideologies... 14. Yep, not continued but my ADSC was up in Nov '19. Everyday past that was because I wanted to be there. Felt like a weight off my shoulders (doubly so since I hit 20yrs in Jun '19). Come PCS time got Stratcom as LNO (basically) from 16AF...hard pass.

  16. Fuck that, if they don't put it out, it doesn't exist. So far the only interesting part of the story is the dude who is publicly claiming that Joe Biden was aware and a part of Hunter's money-making schemes. That should be pursued. The sexting and other shit is just noise. There's no shortage of screwed up politicians' kids. However I personally think it stretches the imagination to claim that Joe didn't know his kid was using his name and position for personal gain. If there was ever an argument that Joe wasn't fully a swamp creature, and I don't think there was, it should be laid to rest.

  18. Joyride??? Are you freaking kidding me? Plan a 4 ship TOT Involving airspace issues and ground coordination. That's a real world requirement. Park in airspace that deconflicts with a variety of threats and restrictions. Been there, done that. Work comm issues with a ground party to hit a TOT and solve weather, threat, and last minute changes to accurately arrive when and where you want to be. Easier said than done but part of the job description. No doubt TOTs have been missed and formation positions have been atrocious but the answer is more training not less. If you can't master the basics, the complex mission tasks aren't going to be any easier.

  19. Sure. 4 years. 2024 election will be between Harris and Nikki Halley. Mark the tapes.

  20. So I'm just curious, what happens when the election comes and goes and no one ever substantiates any of this stuff? Not saying that will happen, but I think we can all agree this, or any administration in recent history isn't necessarily trustworthy. We're a week out, and everyone with all this proof, except for the super reputable sources quoted by torqued, are mum. And who knows, maybe they're going to drop all these bombshells. At this point, nothing is surprising... What are all of you die-hard Trumpeters going to say? Wait, I know, you'll say #fakenews... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Yes, this is what's right with the Air Force. In the midst of a political, social, and military stupidity, a C-17 crew landed an emergency airplane in the combat zone and NO ONE noticed. Dear crew: well done.

  23. I wonder if this is one of those things where I'd watch it and come to a completely different interpretation.
    1 point
  24. No, it's not. It has very little transferable skill to combat effectiveness. It doesn't mean we shouldn't continue doing them though. We live in the greatest country in the world where you can have 50,000-100,000+ screaming fans cheering for 'merica! It's good publicity, it's something different for the pilots to do and is usually a morale booster for the guys involved. I've never walked away from a fly by thinking, man those were some good lessons learned. Are demo's good training? How about the thunderbirds or the AF band (if that's still a thing). There are plenty of advantages to projecting airpower to the masses, training doesn't need to be a requirement.

  26. That’s probably the most interesting part to me, I see this two ways. 1 - no attempt or 2 - non-successful attempt. Either way, it’s a sad situation for their families and the Whiting Field team. The IP’s truck at VT-2, as it currently sits.

  27. Um, John Q. Public here. I love a flyby as much as the next guy, but sorry, I'm not paying taxes so that you can go out and have a unique joyride in the jet. I pay taxes to maintain a competent fighting force. Training (or recruitment objectives) damn well better factor into every flight you take. You want to go joyride? Buy your own $200M jet and offer services to the NFL on your own time. And yeah, a flyover might be light on legitimate training objectives, but if you can't learn something from one, you're doing it wrong. Based on some of the atrocious TOTs I've seen on TV over the last few years, most of the guys flying them need the training.
