  1. Truth. I gave an I-ride to a crew chief, briefed him exactly what we were going to do and he was gung ho and normal as shit for the whole experience........ Riiiiiiiiiight up to about 5 seconds after brake release. Full AB and off the ground shortly after that, 5-bills at the end of the runway and into the vertical. He's hyperventilating for the acceleration which didn't seem that abnormal. At the start of the pull up he starts "ohhhhhhhhh" and then as we're vertical he says, "Sir, I want to go back." I level off at 10K and offered to just be an airliner and we could do some sight seeing and take it easy. He just kept repeating that he wanted to go back in a scary, panicked way. I started to get pretty concerned he was going to do something crazy, so I told him to put his hands under his thighs, don't touch anything and I'll have us back on the ground in 5 minutes. Should have done a straight-in but I wanted to get down fast. He almost lost it when it put some G on the aircraft in the pitch out. I figured out he no likey the Gs. Not an experience I'd care to repeat. Absolutely no fun having a panicked human trapped in your back seat with access to some fairly "reactive" handles and actuators. 0.1 KPAM-KPAM 🙃

  4. For this? Why? Because you don't like his beliefs? I don't agree with them either, though I haven't taken the time to listen to the complete interview. I'd rather we just close off the pipeline of unfiltered reactions to every stimulus in the world. Our leaders should not have social media. We shouldn't know what they think about everything. You guys are acting like you still haven't figured it out. They're all crazy. They're all idiots. If you expect these people (or any people) to have the right views and the right ideas and the right responses and the right actions to every possible situation, then every single one will be a let down. Vote for what matters *now.* Women are not going to be forcibly impregnated and kicked out of the workplace, losing their suffrage in the process. The signal thing was bad. 100% understand calling for removal for that. I don't think RFK Jr should be removed for thinking he has a worm in his brain, nor do I think Hank Johnson should be removed for thinking Guam could flip over. I don't think they should be voted for, but that's not the same as calling for their resignation. Cancel Culture indeed.

  5. I know incentive riders can do wacky things and I have no idea what happened in this case... but you're fucking up if you don't put the fear of god in them regarding the ejection handles and the seat in general. I don't care how much egress training they got, every incentive rider I ever flew with got another cockpit fam brief from me and I personally helped them strap in.

  6. Video without having to go to Facebook. Looks like the canopy landed on the back of the jet...still sitting there as he taxied back to parking. Rear seat still smoking...I guess he/she got the full ride! AQMaJyCMc_233nvxeiAODeOwwEuAiq9Vri1TK7WR2uG0yGiaLhNPl4cLUy5A8BhYrqls1nYnW_bw4UCOY0sbKPVLxkFKid3TAVVesf5PAr4FAg.mp4

  7. And his path to doing this is to abdicate the majority of the training to the civilian Part 141 world… We have a hard enough time right now making these young officers into military pilots. So yes, let’s take away more time spent in a military aviation training program….that’ll do it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Completely unsat. The Signal crap should have been enough but this is WAY over the line. And before my fellow GOPers get your panties in a wad, we wanted Swalwell to resign after falling into the Fang Fang honey trap. And, recall the statements the right made when Obama associated with Reverend Wright and all of his nonsense. If we say everyone should be held to the same standard, lets do it. Hegseth should resign.

  14. Good buddy of mine was a T-6 FAIP at Laughlin; he got tagged to do incentive flights for some ROTC cadets going through Field Training. A friend of his was doing the some thing during the same Vul and taxis out first. As my buddy taxis into the hammerhead and catches up to the other airplane, he realizes something doesn't look right; low and behold the other airplane is now a convertible. The IP in question told the cadet in the backseat to put the ejection selector in command forward; cadet pulls the wrong handle and blows the canopy instead. Needless to say incentive flights were put on ice for a while after that.

  15. In the F-15E, the ejection sequencing valve wasn't put into AFT INITIATE until the before takeoff checklist anyway.

  16. Are they better? Yes. Does it take some getting used to/practice, also yes. Do what Busdriver suggested. Best practice suggestion I have is, in addition to finding the front sight first (then you also find the dot), make sure you are bringing the gun to your eyes and not your eyes to the gun (e.g. hunching or manipulating your neck/head to alighn your eyes to the sight). With some practice, you’ll not even notice the iron sights.

  17. nunya's comments are good. But would you like to know more?.... Red dot is target focused (your eyes) at all times. If you have trained your index correctly, it is much faster and more accurate. If you don't train your index, it's pretty easy to lose the dot. The larger windows are nicer to use, but it doesn't really make a performance difference assuming you don't lose the dot. If the back side of the reflex glass gets misted over, or a water drop in the wrong spot, it is possible that the dot will stop working (doesn't reflect correctly). That's where the various enclosed emitter dots come from. Actual suggestions: Setup your pistol with back up irons that co-witness in the lower 1/3 of the window. They're useful for finding the dot as you learn how to use the setup, and a backup if the glass gets foggy/misty. Practice the draw to presentation/index, A LOT.

  20. I think we need to stop kidding ourselves that anyone in senior leadership is concerned with actual skillsets or experience. What is happening is very simple: We can't maintain the jets we have and we can't acquire new ones in a reasonable timeframe. At the same time we must keep the slides green at all costs. The only answer left (short of offloading the entire operation to the civilian world) is to retcon what a UPT grad is. It costs AETC nothing to churn out crap and dump it into b-courses across the other MAJCOMs. B-course instructors will still wash out the weak swimmers, but at that point finding them a new home is an ACC/AMC/AFSOC/AFGSC problem. AETC's hands are clean (on paper) and the brass at Randolph have figured this out. They can even pitch the UPT cuts as #innovation and cost saving to keep the (even more out of touch) GOs in the Pentagon happy.

  21. I can only infer that you're making reference to his irresponsible use of unsecure messaging apps to communicate secret information. Of course that should be punished / not tolerated. And here is me, a guy on the right, plainly saying so. Whether or not that deserves prison is a whole different discussion though. Probably boils down to intent. The difference between what he did (irresponsible) and what Schiff attempted to do is a universe of difference though. If you can't see objectively see that, you're beyond redemption. Now, if you can look at what Schiff has done and say, yeah, that amounts to attempting to illegitimately undermine the president of the US and that is wrong and should be severely punished, then there's probably hope for you. If all you can do though is point at Pete Hegseth, and go "what about this guy?" then I got nothing for you.
