Never take a single day for granted. Losing someone unexpectedly is the worst thing a family could suffer from. Godspeed to the crew! We'll see each other again!3 points

It should also be noted that the "committee" kept FSU in the top 4 even after the injury. They then won all their remaining games. Yet the "committee" comes out today and said that the injury to Travis was the deciding factor. The injury happened weeks ago and didn't impact the rankings until it looked like an SEC team was going to be left out. It's all a corrupt scam.3 points

Prohibition doesn't work, and I'm sick of the knee jerk reaction to ban things for promises of safety. The same GO restricting booze sales to "keep Airmen safe" doesn't think twice about dropping a tasker at 1700 on Friday and sending those Airmen home to a furious wife after the kids are asleep. In my experience senior leadership should look in the mirror when trying to understand rising suicides in their force. Instead, they hit the easy button of restrictions & claim a halo for their duplicity.3 points

My heart breaks for these families. Air Force Special Operations Command has released the following update to the aircraft mishap: AFSOC Aircraft Mishap - UPDATE 6 - released 0507CST Today, the combined Japanese and United States teams working diligently in the search for the CV-22 mishap aircraft near Yakushima, Japan, on November 29, 2023, had a breakthrough when their surface ships and dive teams were able to locate remains, along with the main fuselage of the aircraft wreckage. The dive teams were able to confirm five additional crew members from the original crew of eight that were involved in the mishap. Hours after the aircraft disappeared, Japanese first responders located and recovered the first known casualty from the mishap. Currently, two crew members of the five located today have been successfully recovered by the attending teams. There is an ongoing combined effort to recover the remaining crew members from the wreckage. The identities of the members located today have yet to be determined and will be released at a later date. The coalition of military, coast guard, law enforcement, mariners, and local volunteers remain steadfast in locating and bringing the US Service Members back to their units and their families. The military has also turned to dispatching professional support for the care of the families. As efforts persist for the location and recovery of the entire crew, the privacy of the families and loved ones impacted by this tragic incident remains a great concern. Further information on the recovery and details of the search progress will be released as it becomes available. Additional inquiries and questions have been directed by officials to contact the public affairs section at United States Air Force Special Operations Command at org box: afsoc.pa.org@us.af.mil. Additionally, for family members, military and government civilians seeking assistance whose lives have been impacted by the recent events, they are encouraged to contact the Emergency Family Assistance Cell at 850-884-4494.2 points

One thing is for certain, Travis Jordan has to be the Heisman winner...He is obviously the best player in football because they dropped an undefeated power five conference champion because he was injured.2 points

Oh I hear you man. I don’t agree with many of the changes over the last few years wrt to UPT, but until the bobs get serious about retention, it’s all about production…and they’re not even doing a good job on that piece.2 points

You can blame TCU’s ass whipping in the Natty last year on why FSU was left out this year.1 point

Like I said, I’m a fighter pilot. Things I love, I take personal. Even if I don’t have a direct effect on the result. That’s how it is, for better or worse. 13-0 > 12-1 Fighters > Helos1 point

Hit me up if you’re ever in San Diego. First three rounds on me. I get the sarcasm, but we’re similar people. Cheers.1 point

But that hard work and discipline doesn't matter if the on-field record doesn't. I think it's becoming it obvious neither of us will be swayed by the other's arguments, we'll agree to disagree and move on. And since this is my last post on the 2023 CFB Playoffs, I'll leave off with what @Rainman once posted that applies here: 1) Life isn't fair 2) Timing is everything 3) Bloom where you're planted and 4) Boo Corrigan can get fucked.1 point

Alabama was a 9 point favorite when they played Texas...just sayin. And when you LOSE to the #7 team and save a Hail Mary almost lose to a 6-6 Auburn, I think that speaks for itself.1 point

I'm not betting anything...and that's the issue. Enough people are betting, as well as TV just throwing money at the sport in an effort to turn people's emotional connection to a college into dollars down the road, that the chase to maximize the $$$ is the deciding factor. As a team, FSU is one of the 4 best teams in the country....look at the undefeated record in what used to be a Power-5 conference. Hell, ACC has dominated the CFB Playoffs just as much as the SEC has....yes it's mostly Clemson (Go TIGERS!), but other than UGA's recent run, it's been all 'Bama in the SEC. If it's down to who you feel as deserving in the playoffs, why didn't the Big-12 put OU in over OSU in their conference game? But the record is what fucking matters...not how you feel about it. 'Bama's on field record doesn't warrant a Playoff spot...they lost to a team (t.u.) who lost to a team (OU) who lost to Kansas. They also needed Auburn to implode...a team that lost to NM State lost the Iron Bowl instead of 'Bama winning it. I'm not the CFB Playoff Committee chair, and I haven't been paid by anyone to vote...but Boo Corrigan can get fucked. BONUS Mention: Kirk Herbstreit, Joe Tessitore, Jesse Palmer, and any other ESPN & CBS on-air talent that sucks from the teat of CFB Playoff money...can get fucked.1 point
-
Since we’re asking rhetorical questions that have no bearing on the actual argument I’ll throw one out. Alabama goes undefeated, FSU has one loss, who goes to the CFP. Bonus round: Since everyone knows Alabama and Georgia are better than Washington, Michigan, and Texas, why don’t we just crown the SEC champion the national champion.1 point
-
Yup that's right. With the legacy bonus, prior rated UPT students have always been able to take their respective bonus while in UPT up until the day they graduate and get their pilot wings. Just wondering if the same is true for this new bonus program.1 point
-
Going undefeated, on the road, and with backup QB #2 & #3 speaks for it self...unless you're not in the SEC or Big-10.1 point
-
Well, I think you landed on the real reason...more money will flow with 'Bama being there. But, I won't be surprised if FSU and Clemson bail on the ACC...ESPN has a clear bias for the SEC (which has a losing record overall to ACC this year) and proven it's the P2 +2 Notch another mark in your belt boys...killed the PAC-12, and will probably kill the ACC. Apparently winning all your games doesn't matter any longer. Boo Corrigan can get fucked EDIT to add: changed P3+1 to P2+2. Once that school in Austin leaves, the Big-12 is just as screwed over as ACC is. Just what the college football tradition is all about...2 super Conferences and everyone else. Boo Corrigan can still get fucked1 point

Alabama beat Auburn in a last second 4th and 31. An Auburn who lost to New Mexico State. They also LOST to Texas. They deserve to go? Only SOME games matter? Is this fucking WWE?1 point
-
...and that is the reason helo-only is a thing again. It's also the reason we are giving LTs wings with 115hrs total time. Not quality, quantity.1 point
-
You guys barely beat some average at best teams. You also lost your QB. And there are some better one loss teams. I think Ohio State is better than FSU as well, but Ohio State didn’t deserve to get in either. If FSU beats Georgia later this month (possible, but not likely) then I’ll entertain what could/should have happened.1 point

Being a retiree and a washed up pilot, I don't have to participate in the woke games. It's actually fun. I'm using my 80s and 90s vernacular and it's very liberating. Nothing feels as free as calling things "gay" and liking to look at a good set of tits. Live free, like it used to be. Fuck wokeism.....that shit is gay!1 point

As much as I think it’s kind of messed up for FSU to go undefeated in a “top” conference (ACC is pretty weak these days), I definitely don’t think they are one of the 4 best teams. Good on the committee for getting it right this year.1 point
-
Clearly they learned nothing from the UCF debacle a few years go. The "strength of schedule" argument is BS and is an argument from silence. Until they get to the larger playoff format, the only focus should be determining on who is the best. No one cares who is second or third best. There should never be a D-1 undefeated team left out of the playoffs. I'm light years away from being a FSU fan, but they got screwed. I cannot ever think of a time that I would have ever even remotely considered cheering for FSU, but I hope they win their bowl and make the NCAA show themselves to be the bunch of clowns they are with a third (and completely avoidable) shared national championship.1 point

So let’s not address the real causes. Overworked, under resourced, constant pressure to do more with less, ops tempo that’s higher than it was when we were actually fighting a war…nope, overnight beer sales are the cause.1 point

Had to double check this wasn't Chang.🙂 Unnecessarily burdensome? No. Unnecessary useless bullshit? Yes. This was done at Hurbie, 2008ish?, to stop DUIs, lasted a short few months. How about this idea. Reverse the hours and stop selling during the day because it promotes day drinking. Same logic eh. Planning is cool but you do get a bit of the stink eye walking out of the express at 0630 with a 30 rack of natties on your way to crew brief. That being said I lived in Santa Rosa county for many years with alcohol sales restrictions. You learned to plan around those. Got to the Navarre Winn Dixie one night after a flight at 1155 got to the checkout at 1159, just made it. Not saying you agree with the restrictions1 point

Because f*ck anyone that doesn't work a normal day shift schedule. No more late night beer runs — AAFES to end overnight alcohol sales in 2024 In a move aimed at suicide prevention. stores on Army and Air Force bases worldwide will stop selling alcohol after 10 p.m. Beer, wine, and spirits will only be sold between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. at all Base Exchanges, Shoppettes, Express shops, Class Six, and other stores run by AAFES.1 point

Hinting at employing the military implies some sort of martial law...seriously bro, that is ungood. I agree the optic of allowing the riots go on and federal property to be attacked and burned is very bad. That being said, there were more than enough federal assets to employ without rolling in the military. The federal government certainly has a responsibility to protect the citizens and federal property but even hinting at employing the military is 3rd world banana republic type stuff. If they didn't have enough Marshalls, FBI, ATF and other federal officers perhaps they could use the Guard under Title 32 but even hinting at the active duty military is complete and utter non-sense.1 point

Oh right because the support services on base are supportive of Aircrew schedules! Can’t count the number of times I’ve landed in RODN for example late in the evening only for every eating establishment to include the shoppete to be closed; or better yet, deployed ops, land and chow hall is closed. Heck I’ve had to haggle with AMOPS to keep the runways open for our HHQ missions. It’s an Air Force run by nonners for nonners.0 points

When you beat the #1 team in the country for the conference championship , I think that speaks for itself lol.-1 points

How much are you going put on FSU beating Georgia since you’re so confident they’re a top 4 team, when Georgia isn’t? VMFA refuses to answer the question lol. I said in my original post that I think it’s kind of messed up they went undefeated and didn’t get in, but that I don’t think they’re one of the 4 best teams…if they are, then they should be able to beat Georgia...but I don’t see that happening. And without their 1st string QB, how are they going to be one of the best 4 teams?-3 points
