  1. Just saw this. Implications could be huge, if Japan is willing to pay the tooling/restart cost for an F-22A while we bring online an upgraded F-22 as a result. The question is, will Congress/CSAF/DoD ever be able to tear their eyes away from the F-35 to seize the opportunity? Lockheed Should Restart the Raptor Line If Japan Wants An F-22-F-35 Hybrid Geopolitical trends, security concerns, and industrial and combat aircraft capability needs, could give birth to an American-Japanese Raptor 2.0. By Tyler Rogoway Osakabe Yasuo Reuters has published a report that came as little surprise to us at The War Zone regarding Tokyo's intere…

ATD-X makes its first appearance as Tokyo's warplane plans advance A little bit more on Japan's home brew fighter. Timeline for IOC is a ways off but I am sure Japan could speed that up if things got even more tense in their neighborhood.

Here's a kiss-my-butt/goodbye posting from a jarhead aviator. I'm not going to comment on it, but it sure is an interesting read. https://austin.craigslist.com/about/best/wdc/118782492.html [ 04. April 2006, 20:56: Message edited by: LJDRVR ]

For those of you who train, I am curious if there are any good places that some folks may recommend to train at during UPT? Or are there any academies/training facilities on the bases?

Does anyone know if AMS is excluded from participation at JMAC? Also, can anyone offer a reason why I shouldn't compete at JMAC if given the opportunity (i.e. perhaps OTs that compete have to play catch-up when they return)? I'm assuming it's a positive experience.

  11. There is relentless discussion on this board about getting out of the military, but I don't hear a whole lot from the guys who got out and are making a buck in the civilian world (outside the airlines or guard/reserve). With that being said, I have been looking at the headhunter firms and honestly cannot determine which one, if any, is better than the other. From a completely uneducated perspective, I would think that quality of interviews is a fine balance with quantities of looks you get from companies. Does any one have any experience with Cameron Brooks, Alliance, Bradley Morris that would make you definitively say that one is better than the other?

https://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_serials/usafserials.html I’ve randomly perused this guys stuff for almost 10 years. He digs up some interesting data on these war machines and didn’t see him posted on here before so I thought i’d share. He catalogs most if not all public military aircraft bureau numbers and their associated history. It’s pretty thorough (imo) and is updated regularly. On a cautionary note...i’ve literally “wasted” hours of my life on this site because i just kept going down the rabbit hole. It is a deep one... Enjoy.

Regardless of your political views, this certainly gives us all food for thought. Sen. Glenn was so quick on his feet. When you speak from the heart and with passion, you never know what comes out. -------SENATOR JOHN GLENN SAID: Things that make you think a little....... 1. There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of January.....In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American City, about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq. 2. When some claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war, state the following .. FDR...led us into World War II. Germany never …

Random question/probably not uncommon situation I just got picked up for OTS to be a pilot (hooray!) and my soon-to-be-wife is leaving for OTS to be a pilot in a couple of months as well. We’re both Prior-Es. We’re very optimistic we can both get the same base for UPT, so that’s not the issue, and even if it were, not the end of the world. More importantly, in all of yours guys’ experience, how does Join Spouse work for two pilots starting out? She’ll be ahead of me in the pipeline about 6 months. We’re *hoping* she gets an aircraft and then I can just get that same one at drop night 6 months later, but I’ve been in the Air Force far too long to get excited abo…

My wife goes to college with someone who would like to join the AF through OTS and become a PJ. Anyone have any insight on if this is even possible or how difficult it would be? I have no idea how the recruiting process/pipeline is for this sort of thing.

I was in an at-fault accident almost 3 years ago when I tapped a car in front of me and the lady decided to start a lawsuit (a total BS frivolous lawsuit btw). My recruiter told me that he believes a current CIVIL lawsuit is disqualifying for pilot applicants. Does anyone know if this is true, and is it possible to get a waiver for it? Any advice is helpful.

My unit has been involved with a few deployments to USAFE in support of various Operation Joint etc's. I have to submit my crew for a Joint Service Medal. Does anyone experience doing this? I've reviewed the DOD reg and the AFI. It doesn't look very easy to start and submit on my end. Has anyone done this and made significant progress?

I think joint basing would work and save money if independent auditors were allowed to select the most efficient way of doing things. Either combining the AF and Army way, choosing the best process from either branch, or doing it a completely different way. Imagine airmen having having to cut grass in front of their respective buildings like the Army. What are your experiences on joint bases and does it work?https://www.google.com/amp/www.military.com/daily-news/2016/10/06/army-chief-calls-for-joint-basing-review.html%3Fvariant%3Dmobile.amp

I just watched a MAD video of Swiss mirage pilots hotshotting around the alps, and it awesome. Silly question, but are USAF pilots ever allowed to go joyriding from time to time (solo, or with a flight?) Or, does every single flight have a clear, tactical purpose? Not to sound like a 13 year old... but I was just wondering. Thanks

I was wondering if anybody has any first hand information on flying for the US Marshall Service (Justice Prisoner & Alien Transportation System) other than the typical Google search? I have an interview with them next month to fly with them out of Oklahoma City and have done extensive research on them but was just hoping that somebody had first hand knowledge b/c of course, the internet doesn't lie. Thanks. https://www.usmarshals.gov/jpats/
