Trying to get some info on this. Just received an informal notification from my commander that I will see one drop with my name on it in the near future. Any info is appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hopefully, if you are searching for an answer to a question that you have you will find this thread. On the top of this webpage, which allows access to ALMOST every reg civilians should be allowed to view, you'll see a "Long Title" search. You can search the title of all the air Force regulations for what you're looking for. www.e-publishing.af.mil/ Good Luck! BENDY

I am just curious if ANYONE has heard of a Flyer getting a Civilian Institution slot from AFIT at any point in their career. Trying to put together some facts to take with me and see how far I can get. If you know of anyone that has gotten the 18 months off to go do this, PLEASE let me know!!! I want the Air Force as a career so I don't know why it would be a big deal, as I would continue flying afterward???? Can anyone offer anything. Thanks

I was asked a question today by a fledgling aviator regarding instrument approaches. Instead of shooting from the hip, I decided to fire up my iPad and open up the AFMAN 11-217, but alas, it (the AFMAN 11-217) was not there. I went on to e-publishing and it’s not there either. I found a copy from 2019 on the Columbus AFB site via Google, but what am I missing here?

Hi there, Curious how long it's taken folks to receive AFOQT scores. I took the new T version of the test March 27 so it's been basically 4 weeks at this point. My recruiter doesn't have any contacts to check in on this but he said he's seen it take 3 weeks in the past. On the other hand, a helpful guy from my PCSM testing center (I took the AFOQT and PCSM at separate locations) said he'd check in with folks at Randolph but has not called me back. How long did it take to get your scores? Is this unusually long? Thanks

Anyone got the skinny on this program? I've got plenty of articles from google that speak of the program's greatness but these all have that Public Affairs flavor (spouting the company line). I was "unofficially" notified that I've been selected. 90% leaning towards 3-day opting out.

  12. For those on AD, I take it you saw the AFPAK Hands solicitation we sent out today. I hope you give strong consideration to volunteering. We are ramping that program back to full capacity, and A1 will facilitate. ISIS is altering the battlefield and we must have many, many more air power experts on the ground with long-term continuity, earning the trust and respect of the tribal leaders, especially in the remote mountainous regions of both countries. Many amazing carrots to participating: attend NIU for IDE, work at the Pentagon with some of our greatest minds of our time, free language training, and likely early promotions to both Lt Col & Col. Finally, a real sh…

I recently volunteered for a UPT assignment after receiving an email from group leadership saying they were looking for volunteers. I told my Sq/CC I was thinking about it. Before volunteering, I emailed my functional to ask some questions about the assignment (timing, ADSC obligation, etc.). The functional asked how interested I was. I said I was, and would think about it. She said to let her know if I wanted the assignment. I emailed her back a couple days later, saying that I was volunteering, and that she should hear about it through my chain of command soon. I emailed my Sq/CC and let him know I wanted to volunteer. He said ok. Well, today he pulls me aside…

"Air Force Reserve Command Public Affairs Office 11/26/2012 - Robins Air Force Base, Ga. -- A new proposed Aviator Retention Pay program for Air Force Reserve aircrew is expected to begin in 2013. The ARP plan focuses on retaining aircrew officers to meet basic mission requirements for the reserve. The offer will target only locations where significant shortfalls in rated officer manning exist and will offer a $30,000 bonus over a three-year span. Pilots and combat systems officers who have completed their initial training commitment including those eligible for retirement but excluding those in the 16 to 20 years of service wil…

Hello, I was just wondering what a CSO would maybe major in. I am currently a Senior in High School and have received an AFROTC Scholarship. A CSO interests me and I’d really just like to know more about it. Any information or personal preference would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I read some stuff on weapons school the other day and the term "w prefix" kept coming up. I know it probably has something to do with your AFSC, but what does it physically mean? Example: F-16 - W11F3H? [ 16. November 2004, 23:21: Message edited by: Dirt Beater ]

40 out 110 AFSOC O-6's hit the eject button, including a few HPOs (at least one a multi-year BPZ sitting Wing/CC). Some might see this as a good thing, but that is still a lot of experience walking out the door all at once.

Didn't make the news but a AFSOC OA-1K had an engine failure that resulted in an off-runway excursion. I am told the aircraft had a chip light the day prior. Maintenance changed the oil, did an engine run and signed it off to fly. The next day the crew was taking off when the chip light illuminated, followed quickly by a low oil pressure warning and the engine seized shortly thereafter. The crew did a great job of getting it down but ran off the end of the runway...no one was hurt. The thing is a beast, looks like they could bang the dents out, wash it off, bolt a new motor on and go fly. The bigger concern is the PT-6 failure, one of the most reliab…

A good friend of mine (seriously) recently suffered a Q3 in the heavy world. First ops assignment type, young and with an otherwise clean FEF. Sounds like a 1 item bust with a ding or two tossed in for good measure. I've been trying to give some advice and all but I really don't know what the short or long term effects are, and I imagine they are different than they would be for me in the fighter world. It sounds like it happens a little more in the heavy world than the fighter world from what I've heard from people already (not talking any sh!t, just a no kidding observation from those I've talked to). Assuming the re-check and everything is fine, what are the ramif…

I am sure there is a post on this somewhere, but does it take to become an Aggressor Pilot? That sounds like a neat job. Do you apply after you have flown say an F-16 for a few years or after your an IP, or even have a high amount of combat hours? How competitive is that? Id imagine it would be almost as hard as making the Thunderbirds..am I wrong? Im bored, so thought I would ask so it gave me something to do. Yeah guess you could say Spring Break sucks in pittsburgh..lol id almost rather be in school. Lastly though, does the USMC still use Kfirs as aggressor type aircraft, or have those phased out? thanks, just wondering.. [ 26. March 2005, 17:27: Message e…
