Squadron Bar

Off-topic discussion. Keep it civil, don't abuse this forum.

Forum Rules

1 – Keep it civil

If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed.  If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.

2 - Listen before you speak

A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."

Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force.  Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.

3 – UTFSF

Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.

4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.

After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"

5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense

This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".

6 – No unpaid advertisements

Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed.  Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum.  For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

  1. Started by DFRESH,

Was crossing the pond a few months ago and had a Travis KC-10 dragging us. The boomer (or somebody else on board) may or may not have taken a few snap shots for us after we were done AAR'ing. Trying to see if anybody can help me find any info. I think it was a AFRC tanker and crew.

The F-35 thread is the only one I can open without getting a database error. I've tried several threads here and in the other forums with no luck. Also tried logging out and logging back in, again with no luck. Except this thread. Are others having problems? I just tried to post a reply in the F-35 thread with no luck, so trying to create a new thread and see what happens.

Hi all, I plan to visit the Roundabout/Mach Loop next week, but am aware of squadrons flying nights/maintenance/away at the moment. Anybody able to clarify if there is a chance of some USAF lowfly next week please? Many thanks, keep up the great work Alex

  6. https://patriotpost.us/posts/43033 The dumb-fu@kery in this situation is hard to comprehend. The manager said he was "offended by his passion for the flag"...really?! Since when did respecting the flag become offensive or a "political affiliation"? Another gut-punch to my faith in the future of this country... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What is the Squadron's mascot? A part of the 927th ARW, their patch labels them as the "Flying Jennies", but I'm not sure if that's what they go by.

  11. BO brain trust, I usually stay away from surveys, but I'm humbly requesting info from you all. Here's the deal: Left AD, started a business that gives us the latitude to help other military folks start something of their own as they transition, and we're looking for more data about helping the military community succeed in starting businesses. https://bit.ly/militaryentrepreneur I really appreciate it... feedback, spears, snarky comments, ridicule... all welcome.

Good technical details, training philosophy, there I was stories, background, etc... https://www.youtube.com/user/Aircrewinterview/videos?view=0&shelf_id=1&sort=dd Watched the F-111, F-14 and MiG-29 videos and worth the time.

2020 keeps delivering. Phosphine, a significant biosignature, has been discovered on Venusian atmosphere. News was leaked today with a press conference expected tomorrow. 18. Started by HuggyU2,

Odd request... When you go into a classified briefing room, there's usually a storage bin into which many people put their cell phones before they enter the room. Most of the ones I've seen are poorly designed. If you have a picture of a wall-mounted unit that is exceptionally well designed, would you send me a link to where you got it, or at least a photo of it with the dimensions of the storage slots.

Friday night, Beale had a Skillet, Hoobastank and Dirty Hooks concert on the flightline. Skillet was headliner and the performance, lights, stage effect, etc... was fantastic. They told me they were going to Travis (last night), Vanderburg, Edwards, Cannon, Dyess, and Laughlin. I don't think the word got out like it should have... but if you're at any of those bases, don't miss it. Great show! They apparently enjoy doing these military tours. Cory B, who has well over 1,000 U-2 sorties, landed while I was running the band around Friday afternoon, and we got a good shot with him and them.

Hello. Sorry to disturb. My name is Marian Madalin, a male engineer from Bucharest, Romania. I want to build a P51 Mustang Replica for display, I have some sponsors here who help me with free materials and services. I want to use the drawings of mr. Marcel Jurca to do the parts and assembly, but the drawings are in PDF, and I want an assumed, responsible, serious volunteer CAD engineer to help me redraw the drawings from the PDF and put them into DXF files, so it can be easily cut on CNC from plywood, aluminium, steel etc… I have some progress on the frames and formers (pictures in private). The Mustang will be displayed for a new aviation museum project I am currently de…

  24. A flight carrying the Auburn basketball team had to declare an emergency after a fight between player broke out while airborne. One player was "bloodied." The initial report was "roughhousing got out of hand." The message forums are hilarious saying it was the result of a three way love triangle where two of the players were hooking up with each and one got caught with another dude. Whatever happened mist have been quite a brawl to declare an IFE and ask for police to be waiting when you land.
