Squadron Bar
Off-topic discussion. Keep it civil, don't abuse this forum.
1 – Keep it civil
If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed. If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.
2 - Listen before you speak
A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."
Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force. Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.
3 – UTFSF
Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.
4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.
After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"
5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense
This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".
6 – No unpaid advertisements
Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed. Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum. For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

Anyone have an idea of when you are supposed to receive your follow-on assignment after getting class dates for being a boom? Is the process the same as doing your dream sheet and hoping you get what you want or is it the usual "military needs?" I already have class dates for BBOC EAUC SERE and Water Survival but no word on what airframe I will be on (is that something we find out during training and do you have a choice in the matter). I am also a retrainee (IFCS or GAC for short). Need any good or bad aspects please

Went to the Dos Gringos Wikipedia page today, apparently it was deleted in October because they don't meet Wikipedia's standards for being an artist. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Dos_Gringos "Although these guys have an interesting story, I could not find any reliable sources at all about them. They have an All Music entry, which reveals that all but one of their CDs was self-released, with the exception of one released on the Viper Driver label. I don't think this meets WP:MUSIC standards for inclusion. Deprodded."

Hey all - There's a group putting together an order for the custom Breitling F-15C Aerospace 1A watch. PM me for details, the order is about to go in - I believe we're 1 short. This may be the last time to get this iconic watch for quite a while, as the Breitling US rep went to bat for us to be able to order with only 15 folks. Cost is in the $2500 + $25 shipping.

Interesting...but glad he's OK! (source) An F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet piloted by the son of a candidate to be the Oklahoma attorney general crashed in rural Louisiana on Wednesday during a training exercise. Gentner Drummond, a former Air Force captain and Republican seeking the top law office in the Sooner State, said in a Facebook post that the plane was flown by his son, Alexander, a captain major in the Oklahoma Air National Guard 138th Fighter Wing who ejected prior to the crash... Updating my military photo is a pain in the ass as I promote or get some new trinket awarded to me. (yes.. I have to actually update my service photo. Maybe some of you are lucky enough not to) Would anyone find value in a service that lets you upload a photo, state what needs to be changed, and you get a new military photo back that is up-to-date? I'm thinking about starting a small business based around that concept, but I'm not sure if there's a solid need.

Anybody in the Dallas area catch this gem on the news recently? Apparently black holes are a racial thing now and not a phenomenon in space that sucks in everything including light and not letting it escape. People like this really piss me off. https://www.myfoxdfw.com/myfox/pages/Home/D...mp;pageId=1.1.1

From an undisclosed secret comm facility somewhere in the NCR: To: All HAF customers Recently, there has been buzz (bzzzzzzzzzzzz) concerning new DOD guidance allowing USB removable media devices (i.e., thumb drives) back into the network environment. The Air Force is studying the rules and information contained in the guidance regarding mandatory training, accountability, documentation, checks, auditing, and other constraints. For now, the existing policy stands: Personnel cannot use thumb drives on the HAF network. AFSPC is diligently working with the communications experts from 24th Air Force and SAF/XC staff to develop new standardized policies, procedures a…

So I'm sittin' in another fine training class today learnin' all kinds of great stuff. Fortunately, we have our laptops with us and are encouraged to take notes and look things up on the internet. As the blah-blah-blah goes on in the background, I work on answering my piles of e-mail and trying to get caught up on my OPR's. After I run out of real work, I notice an e-mail from a woman with the last name "Beaver". I chuckle and then get an idea...what other cool names are in the global directory? Here's some I found (look 'em up...they're all legit): Anita Hoel Anita Johnson Beate Cox Max Koch Doug Graves Hai Ho (Hai Ho, it's off to work we go...) Thai Ho (no sh!t…

Need a little help. A bud of mine was just commissioned in the Navy Reserve. There was a Simpsons episode where Homer joined the Navy Reserve that had a great commercial that went "Daybreak, Jakarta. The proud men and women of the Navy are protecting America's interests overseas, but you're in Lubbock, Texas hosing down a statue, because your in the Naval Reserve. Once you complete basic training, you only work one weekend a month, and most of that time your drunk of your ass. The Naval Reserve: America's 17th line of defense, between the Mississippi National Guard, and the American League of Women Voters." I am trying to find a video clip of the commercial from that…

Holy fvck, this thing... Bacon Explosion Friends of my little brother created this monstrosity for a local BBQ contest. In a few short months, the thing went viral, and now they're being given $250K to write a cookbook of recipes just like this one. WTF--how can I get that job?! Thought you guys would enjoy...if anyone makes this, post and tell us how it turns out! This may be the best justification I have for finally purchasing a smoker.

This luggage tag, presumably owned by "Viper Driver Tweak" was found by an associate of mine at the aeropuerto in Erie, PA. It is currently being held hostage by the Swedish Bikini Team, who are threatening to suffocate it with their boobs and/or thighs if ransom demands for its return are not met. If you know Tweak, and he cares enough about this $15 bag tag to save it from certain death from overexposure to soft, delicious Nordic flesh, contact me to help arrange to get it back. Photos/video of the bag tag torture threats unavailable at this time.

Military to Pledge Oath To Obama, Not Constitution Conservative News and Reporting "News for the Rest of Us" Michele Chang Secretary of Defense Robert Gates is extremely frustrated with orders that the White House is contemplating. According to sources at the Pentagon, including all branches of the armed forces, the Obama Administration may break with a centuries-old tradition. A spokesman for General James Cartwright, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, states that the Obama Administration wants to have soldiers and officers pledge a loyalty oath directly to the office of the President, and no longer to the Constitution. "The oath to the Const…

From WOR: BENDING THE PRINCIPLE OF MASS: WHY THAT APPROACH NO LONGER WORKS FOR AIRPOWER Worth a read IMO; if you accept the article's premise that facing potential foes, China namely, that will soon likely combine mass with peer / near peer capabilities that will inevitably attrite and confound asymmetric capabilities used in lieu of actual mass, we will have to add mass to offset this. We have the quality per platform / person covered now we have to have more. Groking a bit on this, does this mean mass in platforms, weapons, weapons/sensors delivered/carried per platform, etc...? Probably some combination not in equal proportions and likely a platform/sy…
