So DoD did offer them all TERA, they signed the agreement, and then DoD said “nevermind?” That is BS if true.

It's too bad the FRT doesn't work on more guns. Looks great! Edit: Just looked up the super safety. Looks like an FRT by a different mechanism. Crazy times!

The shit show with Texas Democrats fleeing the state to block a controversial redistricting bill—House Bill 4—proposed by Republicans that aimed to redraw congressional districts mid-decade couldn't be more embarrassing, especially the support it gets from the liberals down here. The walkout was coordinated with national Democratic leaders. Governors from Illinois, New York, and California offered safe haven and political support. Democrats framed the move as a stand against what they called a “modern-day stagecoach heist” of voter rights. Governor Greg Abbott and other GOP leaders responded with threats of fines, arrest warrants and even removal from office. They also accused Democrats of stalling other critical legislation, including disaster relief for flood victims. The supreme assclown Beto O'Rourke's political organization, Powered by People, was the top financial backer of the quorum break. The group had a $3.5 million war chest and covered major expenses proving it was a planned event. They offered private air transport to Illinois, lodging and meals, logistical support and covered the daily fines of $500 per lawmaker for missing the special session. Abbott and other Republicans accused O’Rourke’s group of potentially violating state bribery laws, arguing that fines cannot be paid using political contributions. The Texas Attorney General launched an investigation into the legality of the fundraising. This wasn’t O’Rourke’s first time supporting a quorum break. In 2021, he helped fund a similar effort when Democrats fled to Washington, D.C., to block election law changes, raising $600,000 at the time. Texas Democrats tried the same tactic in 2003 after Republicans, having gained control of both chambers, pushed through a mid-decade redistricting to replace a court-drawn map. They did the same in 2021. Texas Democrats have supported redistricting when they controlled the process such as in 1990, often using it to their advantage. That effort was ultimately labeled as a “masterpiece of gerrymandering.” It helped Democrats maintain power despite growing Republican strength in the state. However, in the modern era, Texas Democrats have become vocal opponents of Republican-led redistricting, especially mid-decade efforts, which they argue are designed to entrench GOP power and suppress minority representation.

Rt4 and glidepath to Rwy33 gave less than 100ft of vertical clearance. Allowing ATC to give that clearance was poor design. Actually clearing traffic on that section of Rt4 while landing airliners to 33 was a huge error on ATC, imo. The crew biting off on the wrong airliner for vis sep was the final nail. I think it's obvious the designer of the HRC was thinking about Rwy 01 ops vs 33.

The DNC continues to be dominated by lunatics and with their grip on mainstream media, it spews out everyday on what used to be influential networks. Recently Dr Neil Degrasse Tyson was being interviewed on CBS about Trump's plan to build a moon base as part of continued space exploration. The interviewer had to find a way to say something negative about Trump and his policies so he tied a moon base to the evils of western colonization on earth. "We know how the age of colonialism worked on this planet," the host said. Degrasse Tyson who is a very liberal dude could not help but quip back - "Well, the — the real problem with the colonization history in Western civilization is that there were people already there," Tyson said. CBS host frets Trump admin plans for moon base could usher in new 'age of colonialism' in space

These people are caught in the middle of a political fight. TERA was there and offered for ALL 15-18 years as a force shaping tool. DoD changed the policy on their service AND took TERA away, this punitive and we are better than this. I, like Biff I don't understand transgender and I tend to believe there is more disruption from their service than there is good. That being said, we don't have to rub salt in the wound as we push them out there door.
-
Excuse me, excuse me. I'm just going to insert this right here... US Air Force to deny retirement pay to transgender service members being separated from the service https://federalnewsnetwork.com/air-force/2025/08/us-air-force-to-deny-retirement-pay-to-transgender-service-members-being-separated-from-the-service/ Didn't they RIF a lot of majors who were twice passed over with around the same amount of time of serving that was roughly 15-18 years?
-
Honestly it's anybody guess what the board is looking for. I imagine there has to be some sort of expectations based on rank. Not sure a senior captain with all the boxes for major is comparable to an lt when getting selected but the board has taken both. I'm 99p/99pcsm no ppl but did IFT as an RPA guy. 100 pt test 4.0 MBA from a small private school (applied to OTS while in grad school). Have a 6 month "combat" deployment and letter of rec is my 04 deployment commander. I was 4/4 in my squadron so dont know if I even made it past the group. Coming out of existing rated I'm just hoping I make it to the board as my wing typically has double digit applicants and they have gates up to limit those from trying to crosstrain. The rumorint was if you're scores arent in the 90s dont bother.

Why should they get retirement when they’ve done less than 18 yrs? They haven’t performed the requisite amount of service and therefore haven’t earned it. And they’re not getting medically discharged, so that angle is N/A. Those 18+ YOS are getting it, which again isn’t earned, but good for them; I won’t hate the player and don’t blame them for getting it. I imagine there are some dipshit leaders who stupidly made promises they couldn’t back up, but that’s not the DoD’s fault.

Hey everyone, I'm a new applicant looking for a reality check with my package. I'm not sure whether to be optimistic or not and I'd like help setting my own expectations for the board. Graduated last year from AFROTC with a technical degree, 3.29 GPA Straight to AFIT where I'm getting a graduate certificate (not a master's), 3.2-3ish GPA, no DG program, no education ADSC 94 Pilot AFOQT, 99 PCSM, Private Pilot License (finished while in grad school), fully qualified medical, decent extracurriculars I went straight to AFIT from AFROTC, so I have no operational experience. My mentor who wrote my letter of recommendation (O-6 fighter pilot) and I tried to leverage my leadership experiences from AFROTC to make up the deficiency in this category, but obviously that's not going to compare to a deployment, exec experience, etc. I'm really hoping for ENJJPT, but realistically I'm doubtful about getting selected at all. Thoughts?

It sucks to give TERA then take it away, regardless of the person's sexual orientation. I don't necessarily understand the trans movement (probably never will). That being said, if they were promised retirement and it was taken away, then that's bad form.

Initial Pilot Training and Future Pilot Training
Clark Griswold replied to LookieRookie's topic in General Discussion
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt but the only way you get to that level, skill, awareness I think he is implying is by training and flying a lot and in several different types aircraft with good instructors, good equipment first in well crafted basic training situations then progressing to challenging, non-rote situations… Rinse lather repeat or Fly train fly… this is how it’s supposed to be #choirpreaching -

Initial Pilot Training and Future Pilot Training

it was a holdover from when the requirement was significantly higher. It also allowed units to waive hours to less than the previous requirement, which was deemed insufficient given the UPT cuts combined with FTU course reductions pushed to the squadrons. -
Baro alt variations amongst the fleet in that airspace is very interesting. This accident was going to happen no matter who was piloting at some point if it was allowed to continue.

Well Leard is wondering why T-6s have specific go around procedures or why SPs get graded on it, because he didn’t do it that way in the C-17. He wants “military pilots,” not “T-6 pilots.” He has never done ab initio/undergraduate training so he’s out of his element Donnie. -
Bro, the hog dudes have some of the gucciest shit these days. They're running scorpion whilst the rest of us are using JHMCS or no HMCS (raptors) at all.
-
To be fair… doesn’t that meet or exceed the technology in the Hawg? Maybe these new trimmers are awesome, I dunno, everything is xeriscaped out here in the land of entrapment. 🍻
